4x Gold Class Movie Tickets for $39 (Save $117), Free Postage - Friday's Amex Connect Deal

1201

Okay, I'll post this a day early. I think I have enough tickets now.

This is today's upcoming deal for Amex Connect (at 12:00pm). I am not a rep, a few of us on the forums figured out how to get this info early.

Gold Class Movie Tickets, buy 1, get 3 free. $39 for 4 tickets, saving $117. Free postage via Australia Post (ordinary, not registered).
Tickets expire 30 March 2013.
Valid at Event, Birch Carroll & Coyle and Village cinemas.

You're meant to need a bank issued (ANZ, CBA, NAB, Westpac) Amex but in reality it simply DOES NOT MATTER.
I have used a non-bank issued Amex to buy a whole bunch of stuff from Amex Connect already. Just select any bank when asked.

I don't know how many will be available but the first batch had 700 lots, the second batch had 400 lots.

So the link was meant to be: http://www.amexconnect.com.au/OfferDetails.aspx?OfferId=47
BUT, if yesterday's deal is anything to go by, it might change so I suggest you simply bookmark http://www.amexconnect.com.au

TIPS for those crying about not being able to purchase anything:
Use a decent fixed broadband internet connection, not some mobile "broadband" rubbish.
Have your credit card number saved in the clipboard so you can just Ctrl-V it (or if your name is really really long, maybe have that saved instead).
At around 11:45, go to the site, click on Your Profile, log in again when prompted by the pseudo-popup, and leave the browser open.
Open up your system clock. It should be sync'ed to an internet time server, just as Amex Connect's server is. When it hits 12:00:00pm, refresh the page. No earlier.
Maybe open another tab loading the page every 5-10 seconds, but leave the current one going. Don't hit refresh.
Once one starts loading, close all others.
Do this for the first click (View Deal), and second click (Buy Now).
TYPE FAST.

T&C will state one purchase per person per account per card per day per whatever.
However, if you have multiple accounts you can purchase multiple times, just use different details in the top box of checkout.
Delivery name / address can be the same, credit card details can be the same.
You will need multiple accounts now as the email address field is not editable as it was during the first batch of tickets. To pull this off, have multiple browsers / computers pre-logged in from different accounts (will likely sell out before you can switch accounts).

This is the last daily deal by Amex Connect (unless they extend it).
Thanks for the great ride, American Express. Cheers for the bargains.

The direct link has typically been:

(substituting 47 following the obvious pattern), redirecting to 48 until 12:00pm SHARP
but today's tablet tricked us by jumping to 118 (random)

      • +1

you can make some better deals than this, DEALFOX!!!!!;)

  • Sold out now. At least I got one. I didn't know about the tablet deal but I'm sure that would have been harder to get.

  • Waaaaaaaaaaaaa! SOLD OUT!

  • +1

Fraud happens when the bank detects multiple "AUTH"s that happens within a short space of time.

So maybe each time you refresh it does that.

    Who knows…

Maybe you'll get calls from your banks soon

    • I think this error presented itself even on the first attempt to checkout. At least for me.

  • Im so pissed off right now
finally got the payment screen and suspected fraud
I called the bank up and they said its not the card, Amexconnect blocked the card for too many refreshes
    WAHT THE F*CKK!

    • I got that on my very first attempt, I think they screwed up.

  • Thanks mate - for once I managed to get through the deal coz of your early predictions !!

    • No worries :)

    • thats where you went wrong, only click once…

    • I did write this into the tips in OP

  • i wonder what they gonna do from next week.

    • The promo has ended. They will go back to their usual work.

Managed to get 1 and when trying to get a second one, got an error saying it was suspected fraud, and here I thought that you could use the same credit card across multiple accounts :(

What a bummer. I had 2 other accounts created and waiting too.

  • The system definitely crashed when I went to refresh each time. But when I got the screen up and 'buy now' it said 'page could not be displayed'. Luckily my order still went through! Hope it worked for everyone too. :)

I missed out but thanks for giving me a shot at it Cooni :)

    • Spoken like a moderator

      • just curious whats your number?
please please pm me if you dont want to share in public :p

        • 202X. Think I was the first OzBargainer to get one lol

        • By the way, you're not accepting emails or PMs. You need to enable either / both

      • like a boss.

  • How many did you score cooni?

    • +1

Just one set this time… Fraud blah blah

  • Hey Cooni thanks so much. I usually miss out on these deals but managed to get one at 12:20pm :) Stoked!

    • No worries mate

  • System kept crashing on me on payments page- finally got through again and it told me I already had one so couldn't buy another. I have no email confirmation, but my card has been charged, so I'm hopeful.

    • if your card's been charged and it says you already got one, YOU ALREADY GOT ONE.
with that much pressure on i wont be surprised somehow they failed to send out the email.
      congrats! :D

  • Anyone else in the same boat as having their credit card charged but no confirmation email/screen?

    • see above ;)

  • got them! no thanks to you cooni =P if it wasn't soo ozbargained it would have been a lot less stressful lol =P cheers.

    • +1

But because it was OzBargained the slow down helped us get them…
If the page was lightning quick imagine how fast the tickets would have disappeared!
Those that bashed refresh all day missed out. Follow tips = success.

  • +1

The confirmation page never loaded for me. When I tried again, I got "Fraud suspected".
I then called my bank, and they said that a payment had successfully gone through from Amex Connect.

So I suspect that all those people who received "Fraud Suspection" did successfully purchase tickets; however never saw the confirmation page.

    • but i have not received any confirmation email.

    • guidedlight: I'm guessing you didn't get a confirmation email either yet?

      • No, I haven't. :-(
Do they email the tickets or post them?

        • +1

          Email confirmation.
Tickets posted via Australia Post regular letter mail. Takes ~1 week.

    • Good to know. My pages kept crashing, when I finally retried I got Fraud Suspection too. Hope thats what it means!

    • I got a 'fraud suspected' error message on my first attempt at buying the tickets, but similar to you, the transaction has gone through my Amex account. I haven't received the confirmation email. I've given my details to the Amexconnect helpdesk and they're going to get back to me.

    • ** UPDATE **

I just received the following email from Amex Connect; in response to the enquiry I sent them earlier.

We are sorry you experienced issues today. We are finding that the offers are very popular and due to high traffic on our supplier’s site, this may have caused difficulty in finalizing your purchase.
We will have our supplier, Pinpoint, contact you via email within the next 2-3 working days to investigate the error in your transaction, and if we identify that an error occurred, we will process your payment for this offer.
Since the start of the campaign we have sold over 2,700 products/vouchers. We have some ongoing offers and deals on amexconnect.com.au for you to take advantage of, and look forward to seeing you again.
Once again I apologize for any inconvenience caused.
      Rgds

      • yeah, I received the same email. :/

  • Got one set of 4 after missing out the previous couple of times this was offered Yay :)
Tried to get a second set on a different email but got the suspected fraud message

  • But no confirmation emails?

  • Got it! My order confirmation is 260X.

  • +2

ok lets move onto dick's myth….shall we, ozbargainers!

  • Could not get it. Server looks like frozen. Does the problem lie with their server or mine? Any1 knows?

    • Server.

  • would anyone be nice enough to share if they got more they they needed :) (of cause pay for it). would be nice to experience Gold class for the first time…

  • LOL got trolled by all the people saying it was mothercare vouchers and didnt bother to check it at midday
come on guys ozbargain doesn't need trolls!

  • I got suspected fraud error - called bank, no pending transactions. Didn't work!

    • Did you ask your bank for authorisations? Pending transactions are a different beast. Got the fraud error too after I repeated transaction as was unsure of the first went through. I then rang my bank and $39 authorisation to amexconnect was charged today, no e-mail received yet.

      • Thanks Minnie.. I did call again and they said it was the same thing!!! Still no authorisations OR pending transactions… NOTHING! Gah… i had a bit of hope for a second :(

  • -5

Just sent them an email pleading for them to block non-bank issued cards, and block multiple buys. If you agree please send your own message with the same message and hopefully they might listen.

    • if you were fast enough and lucky enough you'd get one. Why ruin it for everyone else?

And no i've never gotten any of the offers….yet.

      • -1

Ruin it for people who're ruining it for the intended customers you mean?

        • I couldn't use either of my NAB issued Debit or Credit cards, it came up with an error saying it was the wrong card type. Seems as though no one else had that problem though…..

  • what a waste of time and resources!!

  • Hmmm… mine had a hung page, nothing happened for 20 minutes, but my credit card's been charged. No email confirmation though. :( Not sure what to do now.

  • +1

+ve thanks cooni, finally got 1 deal from these promos… at least i think… since the order confirmation page never came up, but the amount have been deducted from my card, on your amexconnect account there is no way to track orders, hope no dramas
