4x Gold Class Movie Tickets for $39 (Save $117), Free Postage - Friday's Amex Connect Deal

1201

Okay, I'll post this a day early. I think I have enough tickets now.

This is today's upcoming deal for Amex Connect (at 12:00pm). I am not a rep, a few of us on the forums figured out how to get this info early.

Gold Class Movie Tickets, buy 1, get 3 free. $39 for 4 tickets, saving $117. Free postage via Australia Post (ordinary, not registered).
Tickets expire 30 March 2013.
Valid at Event, Birch Carroll & Coyle and Village cinemas.

You're meant to need a bank issued (ANZ, CBA, NAB, Westpac) Amex but in reality it simply DOES NOT MATTER.
I have used a non-bank issued Amex to buy a whole bunch of stuff from Amex Connect already. Just select any bank when asked.

I don't know how many will be available but the first batch had 700 lots, the second batch had 400 lots.

So the link was meant to be: http://www.amexconnect.com.au/OfferDetails.aspx?OfferId=47
BUT, if yesterday's deal is anything to go by, it might change so I suggest you simply bookmark http://www.amexconnect.com.au

TIPS for those crying about not being able to purchase anything:
Use a decent fixed broadband internet connection, not some mobile "broadband" rubbish.
Have your credit card number saved in the clipboard so you can just Ctrl-V it (or if your name is really really long, maybe have that saved instead).
At around 11:45, go to the site, click on Your Profile, log in again when prompted by the pseudo-popup, and leave the browser open.
Open up your system clock. It should be sync'ed to an internet time server, just as Amex Connect's server is. When it hits 12:00:00pm, refresh the page. No earlier.
Maybe open another tab loading the page every 5-10 seconds, but leave the current one going. Don't hit refresh.
Once one starts loading, close all others.
Do this for the first click (View Deal), and second click (Buy Now).
TYPE FAST.

T&C will state one purchase per person per account per card per day per whatever.
However, if you have multiple accounts you can purchase multiple times, just use different details in the top box of checkout.
Delivery name / address can be the same, credit card details can be the same.
You will need multiple accounts now as the email address field is not editable as it was during the first batch of tickets. To pull this off, have multiple browsers / computers pre-logged in from different accounts (will likely sell out before you can switch accounts).

This is the last daily deal by Amex Connect (unless they extend it).
Thanks for the great ride, American Express. Cheers for the bargains.

      I got a few.

      • 28 wasnt it?

        • +5

if he got 28 tabs then i suggest u transfer ur id(turd) to him.. more fitting dont u think? :p

        • Done a brodie…

        • +1

          Broden*

  • Isnt this against the T&Cs? Why bother having T&Cs if people are going exploit a bug/flaw?

Also I dont see a deal. Posting 'deals' before it's actually on is not really the point of ozbargains?
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…

Feel free to neg me but what Im saying is true?

    • +9

So you'd rather find out after 12?
There have been plenty of future dated deals.

Think you need to take a chill pill mate.

As for T&C's, well… they are there. Since when has OzBargain cared?

    • There is nothing wrong with posting a deal in advance if it "will" happen

Oops, didn't see OP can't guarantee it

  • +2

    You are legend man!

  • excited too early

  • LOL.. what happen if you are wrong? Is this post a deal? You are most likely correct but still… There is no "official" ad on the item, so this is forum stuff?

    • +3

I heard Myers are having a 50% off sale at the end of the year. Lets post that up too!

    • +1

      Then well… Oh well.

      Evidence posted in OP

      • +1

It's not evidence or not.. Normally, if it's not advertised. It belongs to the forum. Just my 2 cents. I report to mod already. They can decide. Nothing against the Post/OP.

        • +3

          That's fine.
We do get Coles / Woolies promotions early through similar "exploit"

        • +1

There is no proof that it will be the tickets though, just speculation.

  • Yeh well someone gonna start whinging that you're essentially hijacking this "contest". LOL.

  • what a Legend..well Done mate. Hats off to you

  • isnt ther only 2 days more of this amex nonsense/catch and bate to finish?

    • +1

      Friday is the last day.

  • @ cooni- can you get me some tix?? I think my work link is too slow. :) I will reimburse you!

  • +1

Thanks for the heads up, but with all ozbargainers doing the same thing it should be fun :)

    • Yep, let's bring the server to it's knees lol

  • now amexconnect.com.au is sure to crash tommorow lunch.

  • can you use a visa? .. this is a serious question. someone said you could use any card even tho it does contravene T&C. but so does a non-bank issued amex so just wondering if anyone has tried a non-amex card.

    • I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if it's allowed. Well technically not allowed but their system does not check the first 4 digits of the card to see if it matches the Bank issued AMEX's or not. So it's just a flaw in their 'system' in which case people exploit it.

      • should give it a go then Vic-Turd

        • +1

          Maybe Tan

    • I haven't tried, but the system might reject you based on something as simple as card number length and CCV length, both of which differ between AMEX - VISA.

  • damm, now it's been ozbargained i've got no chance of getting some ticket :(

    • I'm guessing there will be hundreds available.
Just follow my tips and you should be fine.

    • There has been 600-700 orders (4 tix per order) the last 2 times. You will probably have 5-10 minutes to get your order through.

It would be pretty funny if they didnt have the movie tickets, and put out something else.

    Never gonna give you up
    Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
    Never gonna make you cry
    Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

    • We've known each other for so long
      Your heart's been aching but
You're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

  • +5

"+" for the effort. I won't be able to get it as I don't have an AMEX

  • Which cinema are the tickets for?

    • event cinemas- where gold class is available.

    • +1

Event & Birch Carroll & Colye cinemas across Australia.

Feel free to neg this comment.

      • what cinemas are they, i know it's greater union but we dont have gold class in melbourne.
so does it work for village or hotys???

        • -1

          No.

        • +1

it works for village. its logo is on the ticket.

        • I don't see Village's logo there.. All I see is Gold Class.

        • Its been reported by those that got the tickets earlier this month that it has Village written on the back as well

    • Event and Birch Carroll & Coyle.
Surcharges apply for 3D, online extortion (booking) fee of $3.25 per ticket.

  • +3

Nuts! Dont people read! It happens tommorrow!

    1000 clicks @ 2.30 PM AEST.

A good sign of a deal that shouldn't be posted, right?

(boy am I going to be sorry if they do a switch-a-roo)

      • +4

AMEX & Pinpoint Pty Ltd need to be paying you & OzBargains for this much exposure!
Advertising in the back pages of Sydney MX did nothing for them!

Feel free to neg this comment.

Can anyone recommend any free Amex cards to take advantage of these offers? (best one without annual fees)

    Cheers

    • This is the last promotion.
There are several no annual fee Amex cards. Google.

    • +1

Are you talking about AMEX AMEX or Bank Issued Amex?
For AMEX AMEX - The Qantas American Express Discovery Card $0 Fee.
Not sure about Bank Issued AMEX I think they all have a fee of some sort.

Feel free to neg this comment.

      • +1

        the BMW AMEX Gold Card

      • If you have a CBA 'Awards' credit card, you can get an Amex card with no fee.

    • if you are interested in apply for an amex card, first apply for discovery card, then upgrade to bmw gold card, both free of charge. if you give me your email, I can send you a referral, which will give you extra Frequent Flyer points (and 5000 points to the referrer). I referred a few people here before and besides the points, I won an iPad 16G/Wifi from a less well known amex promotion. Thank you Amex.

I have nab debit visa, is that fine?

  • -1

Is this site even legit? Samsung tablet for under $200?

    • Yes it is. They have had MANY deals and people have received their products.

  • +1

*** It appears it is only valid for ozbargainers in NSW, QLD, SA and WA. ***

There are no Gold Class: Event, Birch Carroll or Greater Union cinemas in VIC, TAS, ACT.

    Sad face :-(

    • +1

You can still buy a ticket if you are lucky.

Keep it until you visit NSW, QLD, SA or WA

Feel free to neg this if you want.

    • um…the tickets i receive from amexconnect does have "village cinemas" along side greater union, birch and event cinemas……

      can someone else confirm this?

can these tickets be used in Victoria?

      • Yes, you are right, it is OK for Village, but you can't book online with them.

    • best reason for a NEG.
perhaps you'd want to check previous deals, other comments or just wait for the T&C?

    • Really not hard to find

  • Boys how many in qty should a deal offer for it to pass the (Insufficient Quantity) suspension clause?

  • is there a limit to the purchase? if not someone pm me i would like some tickets i will compensate

    • There is but it can be circumvented.
I posted quite detailed instructions on how to pull this off.

  • anyone used these at village do you need to book at box office?

  • Does this Amexconnect site finish its deals on the 31st March?

    • +1

From 5 March for the duration of the month, every weekday from midday onwards, we’ll be lifting the lid on great offers on your favourite products, for bank issued American Express Cardmembers. With only a limited number of each offer available per day, you’ll need to get in early and have your card ready.

  • Do they repeat the offers because they had the gold class tickets like a couple of weeks ago. I bought some…

    • Some have been repeated, some have not.

  • I heard on radio it will be mothercare vouchers today!

    • one of the worst promo in this month.

    • Well that certainly would be a let down. Will be an amusing thread if that happens haha

  • cooni, which adsl provider are u with ?

    • Optus.
Trust me, the issue isn't your provider.

      • Hi Cooni just to let you know most of the stuff you mentioned above I had already worked out myself eg the direct link, copying credit card info from the clipboard.I even created a shorter email address back when we manually had to type it in. I have adsl 2+. I've tried internet explorer, google chrome, safari. I can only get on when the deal is sold out and I have tried everyday for the last three weeks. So I'm glad it worked for you but it just doesn't for me and probably many others.

  • Yeah it's the mothercare vouchers not the movie tix. Am so disappointed!

    • How do you know???

(I'm) Never gonna give you up!

    • Unless they re-use an old OfferID, 47 still points to Gold Class and there is no other OfferID showing anything else up to 400.

      • maybe they have 400 cameras or tablets;)

        • I meant OfferID of 400

  • -1

do you need an amex card to buy?

  • Cooni, are you ready for an epic influx of negs when it hits noon and its actually moterhcare instead of gold class tickets :D

    • +1

You know, that would actually be fun

  • I hope its going to be Gold movie deal. otherwise, this post will get massive neg

  • The anticipation is killing me…. does anyone want to put odds on?

    • 3 mins then gone!
