"Like what" is not a valid reason for a neg

        • Saija did spelt out his/her reason here in a different comment.

        • ahh thanks scotty, i did a page search but got rolled as it was on the second page!

damn it cant revoke my vote which is older than 1 hour.

  • dammit i want one but getting an amex card is too much work!

    • tomorrow is the last day anyway…

unless they keep the promotion in april ……

    • You dont need to use a amex card. You can use any card and breach the T&C's of the promotion, they dont check or care.

      • really? .. dammit wish i had known this sooner, when was this news? … thanks for the headsup!

        • Well if you dont care for rules and T&C's go nuts!

  • only 21 votes for this deal, yet almost 100 comments. I guess ozbargainers did not have a time to pos the deal.

    40 units warrant a deal……???? no

    • How many do then?

    • +1

It should go without saying that "I didn't get it" isn't reasonable grounds for negging.

      • How many reps and vendors get criticised for bait advertising? yet we give + for a 40 qty deal…..please, don't insult me

        • We all know what to expect, and there have actually been quite a few happy OzBargainers resulting form the site.

    • -3

Totally agree. Its more like a lottory than a deal, whoever can access there site without it crashing wins… pffft OzB should ban these types of 'bargains'.

I found out about Amex Connect through OzBargain.
Without it I would be watching "economy class" movies, drinking instant coffee, mixing things by hand and lugging a computer with me where ever I go.

Thank you, OzBargain and Amex Connect for the Gold Class tickets, Nespresso machine, KitchenAid mixer and Galaxy Tab.

I wish I could win an actual lottery.

    • +1

      Totally agree!

  • only 40 units ? naughty boy.

  • Only 40 units is more like a competition/lottery than a deal. Really really dislike these "deals" that sell out in a few seconds, never mind minutes.

    • Disagree completely. This is far from a lottery or competition. It's not like they are impossible to purchase.
I haven't missed out on any that I actually wanted. Take the time and be on at 12:00pm sharp.

      • +1

The whole purpose of this OZ bargain site is to inform others on great deals, so that the others can see and get the benefit too.
As you said, you visit the AE site everyday at 12pm sharp anyway. Not after you see this OZ bargain post and then visit that site.
If the products are sold out in seconds and people are still posting the deal, it is advertising for that company! Not benefiting all the loyal OZ bargainers at all!

        • I had it pre-typed and posted at the same time as clicking the link, waiting for it to load.
I was one of the first to purchase, I haven't seen an order number lower than mine.

If you loaded OzB at the same time as amexconnect.com.au you would have been ahead of others.

  • so if 40 units isn't enough, just how many are?? it's clear that if you miss out, even with X 1000 units there will always be the knockers….

    • So 40 units sold out within 3 minutes of announcement? Highly unlikely!

These type of scam deals should be banned!

      • Why is that so unlikely?
Look at the exposure on OzBargain, plus national print and radio advertising… You think 40 people wouldn't have hit the site at 12pm?

        • And chances are you work for them.

          About 99.9% probability!

        • Hilarious.

        • I'm pretty sure he/she doesnt. If they did they wouldnt be telling us how to void the T&C's of the AMEX Connect website. ;)

Feel free to neg this comment.

        • Well that's the beauty of it. Since no one else was able to purchase it.

          rofl…

hmm interesting theory actually, I hadnt thought about it before, but for such a big ticket item as this and the warranted popularity over it, the idea of 40 or a meagre no. that can sell out within a couple of minutes and to have the site go down and people waiting for the site to go to the next page and it never does…well i suppose it is a lottery more than a deal. I hadnt considered that but perhaps there should be more thought put into the idea of items like these on ozbargain. I am not sure where i stand but both sides has merit. Question is does Ozbargain have rules in this area? Are other "lottery" type sales banned?

    • It's a 'grey area'

      Read the guidelines - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…

    • +1

I think it'd be awfully sad to ban these posts.
Everyone knows what they're in for, an amazing deal, limited stock.
If that's not your cup of tea, ignore it! But for quite a few of us, we have benefitted quite a lot from this and it being posted on OzB.

    • wiki says
      Limited Quantity

If a bargain is for a limited quantity, that fact and the quantity, should be publicised in the deal (in the title ideally).

If a bargain is for a low quantity, it might be “unpublished”.

you can look at it 2 ways, 1)if you say "limited quantity" or put the amount in the post it might be ok or 2) if you don't mention it, or it's below a certain amount(determined by mod) it will be removed

you know, a bargain is still a bargain, $1 or $100 off the nearest price(have a look at the ipad posts!) rrp is $629, it's still a bargain, but instead of 40 units @ $149 maybe they could have had 100 units @ $199 and more people could have bought it?

  • did anyone from the central or western states get one?

    • "western states get one?"

Sorry mate, there is only one "western state"

Every body else is in the "eastern states"

save some bargains for us mob on the left coast.

      thank you

gee there's some sore losers on ozbargain today.

    • esp. Mr "feeeeel freeeee to neeeeeg meeeee".

I'm really amused - I for one missed all but two AMEX deals but I'm still happy happy. Simply dont understand why would some people who actually bargained a good deal screaming to everyone in face "i know im bio-cycling so feel free to neg me".

  • WTB Galaxy tablet - PST hah!

Missed first deal because I misplaced my Amex card, missed second deal due to shocking work internet!

  • +2

LOL @ all the butthurts who negged because they couldn't get one. I didn't get one, by the way (I don't even have an AMEX card).

For those whinging, sign up to the site, sign in and ticket the 'keep me signed in' box.

Set an alarm reminder for 11.58am every day. Go on the website and refresh at noon.

    Order any deals immediately.

Come back to Ozbargain and gloat.

Don't whinge about not getting one or that it's a scam.

  • Anyone know how long the last promotion took to ship these bad boys out? Lol, received the gold class tickets pretty fast so I'm wondering how long these will take to arrive at your doorstep! (For those that ordered this time or the last!)

    • Mine took 6 days last time.

      • Holy crap that was fast? Lol

  • +1

ooo a shady area of the appropriate use of a negative vote…!

i think it's a legitimate deal. although it's only 40 units, the discount is huge, and it's open to the public. nothing wrong with posting these kind of deals on ozbargain, there were people who successfully purchased the item, they are definitely happy ozbargainers!

on the other hand, if there was a deal with just 1 item at 50% off, then this is not useful for ozbargainers. What number should be the minimum?? NFI, up to the moderators to pick a number!

  • +2

Unfortunately, it was sold out in a minute or two. I refreshed the site at 12pm sharp but couldn't get the page refreshed until 12:01-12:02. It is a good deal for the price but doesn't deserve a positive here for the quantity it supplied and the number of people who missed out the deal.

    • Basically. I'm not understanding why people are negging anyone who said this.

40 units is appalling and it's obvious the website just wants attention. Any website that does this is on my blacklist, tbh, regardless of any sweet future deal.

Mind you, I still would have missed the deal even if there were 1000 units; I am generally no match for the speed of Ozbargain. :P

  • +2

Holy shit…I was home from work around that time & could have logged on & checked but was too lazy…I would have had a crack at getting one as an upgrade for my GT, awesome price, limited quantities or not!

    Damn, I snoozed, I losed! ;)

  • Honestly, I'm not sure why so many of you are whining so much. It was because of the first Amex Connect Galaxy Tab post that I found out about the Amex Connect website and have been following it over the last couple of weeks. I don't listen to radio or read newspapers very much, so without someone posting the old deal, I wouldn't have known. Admittedly, as tomorrow is the last day, unless they extended it, it is not as useful. But still if you pickup the deal tomorrow because of this post, it's still a bargain.

  • wow… what a bargain considering this is usually cost around 500au

  • +1

Bargain it is, however with a quantity of 40 you might as well not even post up the deal.

  • I got a 32Gb one on ebay for $350.

  • +1

This deal was posted on Ozbargain somewhere between 12:01 and 12:02
    Deal had expired by 12:03

A deal that has expired by the time an OzBargainer has had time to read the post, log onto website enter Credit Card details and commit is not a deal but an advertising spoof.

If Cooni had listed the original post as EXPIRED at the time he firsat posted it I would not have any objection.

    • I posted the deal JUST AS I clicked through the first step, waiting for it to load.
I clicked the link, updated the text (that I had pre-typed) and hit post.
I hadn't gotten to the second link, the pop up or checkout page yet.
I believe I was one of the first to checkout successfully. This would have allowed a window of time (albeit narrow) to purchase using the more direct link I posted.

  • I received this item in the mail and expected to get a receipt in the package with it but there was none.
Can anyone tell me how to get a receipt for warranty purposes?
    Thanks.
