  • Tip: you can buy all dlc for US$17. http://store.steampowered.com/sub/13943/

  • Is this game any good? I enjoyed AOE 1,2 & 3.

    • It's F2P (Free to Play), give it a try!

It''s P2W (Pay to Win). Don't bother unless you are buying DLCs

        • It's not a major problem if you just play with friends. It's still not a fantastic game, though.

        • +1

I enjoyed it when it was in beta, but I havn't played it since (I wanted to play it the other day and the loader kept crashing :|).
But now its on Steam maybe I can play it.

        • To be fair this is one of the lesser P2W games out there. You buy a civilisation pack once and that's all you need to spend to get full benefits. No purchasable super units or temporary gold ammo style buffs ala WoT.

looks like they dumbed down the graphics compared to AOE 3 and retained the style of AOE 1 but with better graphics.

  • +2

sucks compared to aoe2 and 3

  • +1

Just an FYI to all the people comparing it to previous AOE games, it is not solely a strategy game but a strategy/MMORPG hybrid

  • +1

It's a fun game, because you get to do co-op campaign. But the pvp system isn't great. Max of 2v2 only :(

    • Also sucks for those who like to play coop vs computer.

  • I played this game throughout the beta, I liked that game a lot and enjoyed it immensely, but like others have said it becomes about how much you are willing to spend much like league of legends, if you don't want to buy in game stuff/dlc, I would say don't bother playing.

    It's a microsoft live game - fail.

It also demanded a license key from me which steam didn't give me so I coudln't even try it.

  • Play together any one ?

  • This is a great game! It is really cheap now .. everything for $17 .. I bought the individual Civilizations for $20 each! This is a huge update and so many fixed things .. get it!!

I love the way you start the heading with "Free", and follow up with "…4 DLC's on Sale @ 50% off $5 USD Each..".

    Black is white.

  • Free to play, pay to win.

Nothing will beat AOE2. It is the best game ever!

I long for the days when "free to play" meant getting Age of Empires in your box of Nutri-Grain :(

    • I have about 3-4 copies of AoE From boxes (and a copy I won at school)

  • Oh my God. I used to play this over direct modem connection in high school. This game is so much win.
