    • yep same

Looks like the Amazon (US) stock is gone. $675.12 via some third party now. Was hoping there'd be more enterprise 16-18tb deals at this stage tbh.

I might have to settle for a WD 18tb for $450. Hoping that there'll be a cheaper Seagate one.

Yeah this is my fear too. I'm holding out hope for Friday, though. We'll see what a new day brings!

The WD deal is on for 4 more days and if sold out will be on backorder so I think we're good.

  • Probably just grab a WD Elements… @ ~$25/TB

I was going to but thought it would be slightly more reassuring if I didn't have to shuck the drive. I've shucked a few before but haven't put any of those drives directly into my PC. I have the tape and everything. I just always put those drives into the two NAS setups that I have. I have a drive in my PC that may be on it's last legs and need to replace it.

Edit: This is a better quality drive too isn't it?

      • This is a better quality drive too isn't it?

Yes, it is. The shuckable seagate drives are better too - tend to be either barracuda pros, exos and ironwolf (unless something has changed recently). $25/TB is mighty tempting though. Always make sure to have backups.

        • I've spent a lot more this last month or so than I probably should have but if I see another deal cheap drive it might be hard to resist. Depending on what the data is, yeah I try to have a copy on one NAS, a computer and then another hard drive as cold storage. Some stuff I keep on the cloud as well.

      • those 12TB plus in the WD or seagate usb desktop drive suppose to be CMR quality drive.
should be similar quality to ironwolf pro or exos or helium drive. comparing to a more expensive WD NAS red, it could be cheaper and better.

I have a hefty "art" collection, but this is ridiculous
