There are a couple of posts about it already.

        pics or it didn't happen!

    • Funny cause its from the Canon amazon store….

    • I got $150 cashback from my R6 during the last cashback offer purchased from Amazon.

    • +2

Plus if you go to the link and start your claim you will see Amazon AU is listed as the very 1st retailer for place of purchase… all it states is must be a AU item, so you can't buy a US Canon or from third party I guess, which I didn't when mine was accepted.

    • Not true.
Amazon shows in the drop-down and does approve cashback.

      • -1

        Read the T&C's.

The Amazon invoice does not meet one of the conditions and they are rejecting them.

        • I got the cashback so not sure what you mean. Checked again and in the drop-down it has Amazon (AU product only)

          • @archieduh: Lots of people buying from Amazon are getting rejected.

I was, and had to jump some hurdles to get my money.

The problem is with the receipt issued by Amazon.

Good detail in first post but I think JV is correct

  • +1

But it says this: Promotion terms
$100 Cashback offered by Canon Australia.

    How to Redeem:

Step 1. Purchase eligible product from selection below. Item must be sold and shipped by Amazon AU to be eligible for cashback.
Step 2. After receiving product, visit https://www.canon.com.au/summer2021.
Step 3. Fill in an online cashback claim form, including proof of purchase and product serial number.

    • If you scroll down to the bottom, it says:

The Qualifying Purchase receipt must clearly specify:
       • that payment for the Qualifying Purchase has been received in full.

The Amazon invoice does not meet this condition.
That is the reason given in the rejection email you receive from canon.

      • Have you tried contacting their customer service? Heard they are helpful.

        • +1

I got it resolved by contacting Amazon. It took around 2 days to get it approved.

Others are having the same issue, there are a couple of threads on OzBargain asking for help….

(still waiting for the cashback to appear in my account though)

      • Glad you got it sorted in the end…Wonder if it’s because some people order get the “order confirmation” and cancel and claim, who knows

        • No, it is because the invoice that Amazon issue does not meet the requirements in the conditions issued by Canon for this deal.

  • Also something to note, this price has been up for a few days, im looking at an RP which i had hoped would drop more, but this price is what its been sitting at

    People still buy these?

    • I didn't mean to upvote this and I couldn't figure out how to remove it until too late lol

      • Well thanks for your accidental upvote. I honestly don't know why so many people are downvoting my comment. It's a legit question. I haven't seen many people.with digital cameras these days. Everyone has the latest phone with the highest mega pixel etc etc. So why the camera?!

          OK I'll bite

Phone photos look OK on the small screen of a phone. But zoom it in and you will see "noise" throughout the picture. The sensor that gathers light on a SLR/Mirrorless is usually much larger than a phone's, so it gathers more light to generate the same picture. With more light comes less noise. And the phone will be without detail in the image. Just a big blur where a nice camera will pick up the strands of hair.

Bokeh. Phones try to fake a blurry background, think portrait mode on the Apple devices. It has to guess where the edges are, and fake blur the background. A nice lens on one of these cameras does it with physics and the behavior of light. No guessing. It just happens. I've had a couple of people ask over the years what app I use to make a nice blurry background lmao. It would be nice if an app would replace KGs of glass and $$$$ lol but that isn't happening yet.

Try sitting on the upper level at a stage performance and getting amazing photos with a phone. It isnt gonna happen. The performer will be a tiny spec in the middle of the picture, and by the time you zoom in all you see is a coloured mess of smeary pixels.

Just scratching the surface here but they are my main complaints when I cbf taking my gear and use my phone, and come back to check out the snaps and just end up regretting that decision.

        • Phones are OK for general purpose snaps, normally outdoors in good light… as soon as you want to do something special, sports, animals, low light, astro, quality portraits, then dedicated cameras will always beat a phone. Phones have come a long way, often I don't lug my gear around as I will have my phone… but when those other areas come up then I take my camera.. last few years I have taken a lot of kids sports photos and always get some many compliments from the others who try taking phone photos that are fuzzy.

  • Tempted to finally get the R5. Best price it's been in a while now.
