Logitech G512 Mechnical Keyboard (GX Blue/Brown) $99 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

230

The blue and brown switch varieties are on sale at JB Hi-Fi as part of their Black Friday sale. The one in the link is for the blue switch. Below is the link for the brown switch version.

G512 Brown

I've gone to my local and purchased the blue switch version. As far as I can tell, they only had one of each on the shelf (Werribee Plaza store).

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2021

Actual last deal was better 95.2 plus $30 JB gift card. Guess black friday is not always the best deal. That's why we have ozbargain here.

    $1 cheaper at Amazon too

    • Plus free delivery with prime

  • Worth pointing out that these are not Cherry switches. They are super average Romer-G switches made for Logitech which just copy the Cherry naming conventions.

They are decent, made with collab with the Japanese company Omron. The Razer ones are those I avoid.

  • My 17YO son (on minimum wage) paid $159 for this 5 days ago from Officeworks and he is a little peeved.

If he goes to OW will they refund him the $61 or does he ask for a full refund and buy from JB or another OW?

Just return it, say he does not like it and it is not suitable for intended use.
There is nothing you are lying about, so don't feel bad about doing this.
He was away on holidays, got home yesterday and just did not like this.

      EDIT here you go.

Change of Mind Returns – 30 Days

If you have changed your mind about your purchase, Officeworks will be pleased to offer you a refund or exchange provided that:

You return the item within 30 days of purchase
You produce a satisfactory proof of purchase (being your original register receipt or online proof of purchase, such as a tax invoice)
The item is in re-saleable condition, including its original packaging (if any), is unused and as sold

Thanks Johnny - sounds like the best way :)

Perhaps, buy the item at the cheaper price and refund the higher priced item, with the unopened one..

therefore, the business doesn't lose out on trying to sell an opened item.. and you get your cheaper price..

          • @Kelvin: Probably not a good idea as they sometimes track serial numbers, you are better off just doing the right thing, return it under their guidelines then buy from JB imo.

            • @[Deactivated]: in that case just return both and go to JB, all you are doing is trying to help OW out

Romer-G keycaps have stems that are prone to breaking which is annoying because replacements are expensive ($13+ for a single keycap). I'm on 4th Ctrl keycap at the moment after 4 years using my G810. I suspect that only that key breaks because it's used a lot in RTS games and being on the corner of they keyboard, it's more likely to experience lateral forces.

    • The keyboard listed is an updated model with GX switches which is a cherry style stem

      • Thanks, didn't know. Saw a comment up there stating these were Romer-G switches and assumed that it meant it was the same as what I had. Looking into it a bit more, the commenter should have said these were GX switches. Either way, Logitech made a poor choice naming their switches so similarly resulting in carrying over bad impressions of their G switch to their GX switch.

  • Romer-G style keycaps are proprietary and it's expensive to get replacement keycaps (and I found it impossible to get custom ones) if that's something you'd wish to take into consideration. Also, I've had 2 (first one was returned after about a year under warranty) that both developed fading LEDs in a few of the keys within a year or so. On the plus side, the build felt very sturdy, and the USB pass through was nice.

  • I have one, my first mechanical keyboard, I really like it, only downside is the LG software…otherwise it's great! it's nice, heavy premium feeling and button's feel super satifisying to click.

I have a brown one I purchase from Officeworks approx 6 months ago

Nice. Always wanted one of these and wasn't prepared to pay up to $159 these usually sell for. Also like that just the characters light up and not the whole switch like other Mechanical keyboards.

Ended up buying a red at Officeworks North Ryde NSW. Not a fan of clicky/noicy switches. Can check stock levels through the Officeworks stock check portal. Just took a while to find. As the first staff member couldn't find it on the floor or in the boxed stock on shelves. Had to get another member who knew where it was and found it out the back in the warehouse.
