dupe. already part of this deal

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/66255

  • This has actually already been mentioned in the Nokia N9 deal. However Nokia N9 is already out of stock, but you can still get:

  • my xperia arc is on its way =D

    • Got mine today and love it. I actually bought it for my teenage daughter, but I love it so much that I want to keep it, maybe I can talk her into having my Desire HD that I bought about 6 weeks ago.

      • chloden, what do you like more about the Arc compared to the Desire HD? Since both are on this deal, your review might be very helpful.

Do you intend to root it and use a Sony ICS ROM?
It seems limited in onboard RAM - my only concern about the phone.

What are its good points and its limitations?

FYI, the beta Sony ICS ROM (note it's for Arc S, so do your research first…)
        http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513172

        • Well I didn't buy it for the specs, I love the look and the feel, it is very slim and has a very clear screen. It is very light and makes the HTC look and feel like a brick.

    • Mine was couriered yesterday (from Belrose so not far away) but the courier didn't deliver.
Picked up from local PO today and it's charging.

It's barely 1cm taller and a few mm wider each side than my old HTC Magic (remember 2009? :D) and of course slimmer, so I'm keen to set it up.

The 8Gb microSDHC has a lot of crapware on it. I am going to use yesterday's bargain 32Gb microSDHC - which incidentally, was delivered within 24hrs of my order!

Seems that the phone will not start until it's charged.

Just started it up… startup was only a second!

  • why xperia arc not xperia arc S :(. xperia arc S is alot better than xperia arc.

    • Because it's a clearance of old stock, not new desirable phones? I don't think Voda even have the Arc S

      • Did you use Buckscoop for the $100 cashback?
I used my account and the link on Friday night but it still hasn't showed up.

Has anyone had experience with Buckscoop when cashbacks don't post?

BTW I'm also waiting on the Xperia Arc. Interestingly, VF posts that the Arc is 1.4GHz.
While it's only 1GHz, you could root the phone and use an overclock app to get it to 1.4, like its faster sibling the Arc S. To me, the Arc and Arc S seem to be a speed bump of the same phone, similar to the HTC Sensation / Sensation XE speedbump.

If you root your phone you could run it at 1.4GHz or up to 1.9GHz if you want a hot brick! According to people posting on WP forums and on xda forums. :)

BTW Sony released a Beta ICS for the Arc S and there are many modded versions to suit the Arc over on XDA!

Anyone else waiting for Buckscoop cashback to post - or ordered an Xperia Arc?
To anyone who has theirs - any freebie bonuses, like the Nokia N9 freebie bonus?

        • Anyone else with an order via Buckscoop, that has failed to appear in your earnings?

My Friday night order should be hereL
The phone was supposed to be delivered to my place today.
AAE courier didn't seem to come to the house, but left a card re. an attempted delivery.
Odd since there was someone home at the time and there was NO SIGN of that courier!

Seems the courier prefers to leave notes rather than to deliver and ring the bell at the house.

Anyone here receive an Xperia Arc?
Or did you order the Nokia N9 or HTC Desire HD?

STAY AWAY from the Vodafone Nexus S. The model Vodafone distributes is the i9023, which is NOT compatible with their "new" 850MHz network. I have had to exchange mine for a different phone (after many 1-hour phonecalls) because I had zero 3G reception at home. Had to run in 2G mode to prevent losing connection Check their coverage tool to see whether the phone you want to use has reception in places where you want to go.

Also, the Android 4 ICS update has been pulled on the Nexus S because of issues (it halves the battery life, got less than 1.5 days on moderate use). Not sure if it will be re-introduced, but they stopped the update for now. Lastly: contrary to most other phones, you cannot unlock the Nexus S for free.

    • thanks so much!

  • Which would you say is the best phone available in this offer? I haven't used android before. Would mainly be used for web browsing, facebook, etc.

In my honest opinion, HTC has great hardware, and they go through effort to make a phone more user-friendly (rather than to add manufacturer crap to it that just makes it worse). I think the Desire HD is a good phone. But it is also NOT 850MHz COMPATIBLE!

I have a feeling Vodafone is trying to dump their non-850MHz phones.

Among the options available, DESIRE HD IS A GREAT PHONE.

  • LONG STORY SHORT: DON'T DO IT.

I ordered the N9 and the Arc on Friday (23/3) and received a VForder number that didn't work for online tracking. Called Customer Care, turns out not only had they mixed up my order/details/debitcard with someone else ("Credit Card Mismatch"), my order was apparently cancelled(found this out yesterday).

I called (sunday/monday?)and was provided a new VForder number. After waiting until last night for the tracking to work, I called again and was informed that both of the order numbers didn't work, and that possibly only a single order for a handset was being delivered to me(HTC?).

Today I was called back, and told that the handsets were out of stock, and I would be called back within 24-48 hours to get an update on the handsets.

Later today, I called back trying to cancel, and was told that the order for two phones had actually been processed on Friday, and would arrive within 3-4 working days. All I wanted to do was order a few phones.

Same crappy vodafone customer service, long wait times for customer care and confusion among the call centre staff.
