  • Is it worth paying an extra $1,000 for the A80J?

    • -2

Benefit of A80J is if you want to have access to Google TV but honestly you can just buy a Chromecast and it will be just as same .. only thing that you'll be missing out on is binge/kayo but you if you have a Console or Chromecast/Apple TV you wont have any issue at all.

I'd recommend getting the C1 as it is still superior in terms of colour & quality, if you want head to EBAY for additional 5% off on the panel … works out cheaper then trying to match video pro but depends if you can click n collect or location !!

    • I went for the Sony A80J as the new XR processor just upscaled content way better than the LG. I watch a lot of 1080p content and spor ton Kayo which upscaled beautifully on the Sony.

Also movies just look punchier…and the 77" A80J panel I believe is using the new brighter LG panel which is used in the G1, so the brighter panel doesnt help.
The person saying that the LG has superior color and quality; hmm not sure, I personally found the Sony picture better and while youtube reviewers are not a good indicator, maybe do your own research there as well.

The OS is a personal opinion so not going to bring that up here and if you have a 77" im hoping you spend some on a good sound bar or a sound system so no point comparing the sound (although the A80J apparently has acoustic sound off the screen but it still is crap compared to the soundbar)

Thank you! I pulled the trigger, and had $1,000 of JB vouchers from a recent Telstra promotion.
    $3,995 for a 77" OLED, I don't think I can do better.

Now, I just need some tips on wall mounts. My current (65" Hisense N7) is mounted, but I want to get this as close to the wall as possible!

  • OK so assuming that I CBF fighting for 15% gift cards or going on an easter egg hunt for hidden ones…..

Where can I get some instant gift cards or JB discounts?

    • RACV member 3% off JB hi-fi gift cards

  • For those hanging this big beast on the wall what wall mount are you buying and where from

    • Sanus VLL5 looks pretty good (a good soul posted about it earlier).

  • +2

JB have just matched free delivery from Harvey Norman

  • will this sell out in the next day or so do you think?

    • Today I reckon

    • Already all gone near me (melbourne area).

    • Will this go on back order once all stock is gone?

  • Just grabbed this last night, so happy, already sold out in the 6 stores around me in Melbourne. Mate also purchased in Sydney and he said the warehouse guy told him there were only 15 left in the country (this morning).

  • Anyone know how many JB gift cards you can use online?

    • 5 is what i’ve heard and read

  • I just bought through ebay good guys. $4800.

i forgot to go through cash rewards for 1% cash back. oh well! happy I got one for this price. Always wanted a 75+ inch OLED but the price was always way too high compared to 65 inch

    • cashrewards doesnt pay cashback when you use an ebay discount code, so rest easy, you didn't miss out.

      • He didn't use gift cards he just used the discount code.

    • Make sure your torrented movies are at least 50-60GB files to justify the Oled spend or at the bare minimum physical 4K bluray discs. Streaming platforms apart from some Disney rips are a waste on the panel.

  • Guys, If Good guys physical store can match this price of $4745.25, is it good deal? OR is there any chance of this price going further in next month?
I was planning to buy 65 inch, but stretching budget for 77inch. Still bit confused between the two.
This is going to be only TV in house for forthcoming 6-7 years hopefully. Don't want to regret later for not going for 77 inch, But also don't want to pay too much for it.
Planning to use 2000$ 10% discounted Home cards with it.

    • +1

Yes - that's a great deal with 10% discounted gift cards. Go for it!

      • Where's 10% off discount gift cards?

        • Home cards from last 10% sale.

      • Finally bought 77 C1 from JBHifi for 4500 + Delivery (59$).
Price was 4700+59 delivery. Used 2000$ worth HOME coupons bought from last 10% sale.
GoodGuys was also ready for this price…But JBHifi seems to have better warranty terms (3.5 yrs) than Goodguys.
Got 2.04 Meter receipt. :-) Delivery on Thursday or Friday.
        Thanks guys.

        • +1

          Congrats!!! :)

        • Jbhifi just tell you the consumer laws anywhere you buy this you get 3.5 year warranty.

Any product over 4000 is 3.5year other then a few specific items like computers tablets and split systems.

          • @Jklaro: Yes, agree.
But JBHifi policy seems to be well defined & documented on their site.
Couldn't find similar details for Goodguys & the salesman was also non-committal, vague.

            • @Sub: https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360053005194…

              Are you talking about this?
              Minimum Voluntary Warranty Policy Guide

If so the good guys gave me a pamphlet with this exact diagram.

              • @Jklaro: Yes.
I had asked Goodguys about it. I thought just pamphlet was not enough. So, I asked him if it is written anywhere in receipt or website.
But he did not give clear answer, so went with JBHifi.

                • @Sub: But it's exactly the same thing. It has the good guys all over the pamphlet with the same diagram and wording.

Did jbhifi put 3.5years warranty on the receipt?

                  • @Jklaro: ok, might be same. Could not find on their site( I was asked to search a page, but could not find it), and JBHiifi were quite clear on that aspect, so went with it. Hopefully both companies should be able to cover warranty well.

              • @Jklaro: @jklaro , could you please scan and post the good guys pamphlet showing their version of that warranty diagram? I ordered the tv online so didn’t get it and that sort of documentation could prove very handy in a few years for warranty under ACL if its necessary. It’s always better if you have something from the retailer as evidence.

                Thanks in advance, much appreciated!

  • I got JB Hifi to match Videopro at 4850 and then got 5% vouchers so all up paid $4607

  • The good guys did $4801 for me including delivery. In stock.

Put a deposit just getting gift cards %15 off total of $4080

    • great price. just wondering if you can share the receipt? would like to try and price match if you don't mind?

      • if you don't mind sharing too please!

        • I don't know how to share images.

          • @Jklaro: https://imgur.com/upload
If you can be bothered.. allgood if not

              • @Jklaro: Thanks for sharing. So did you get your deposit refunded and then pay with the gift cards?

                • @Fractual node: Na I just kept it that way. I might try to look for $1800 more but might just leave it as price protection cos I'm thinking these will drop to 4300 on clearance I will be able to claim the difference on the 1800. Also I think most cards are gone now. Would be hard to find.

                  • @Jklaro: Deposit paid for $4801 thanks to your receipt. I've been driving around all day, sold out of gift cards everywhere… looks like im late to the party

                    • @Fractual node: Nice I'm glad my image helped you get your price.

Yer maybe coles regional might have them.

    • Isn't there a '5 per customer limit' on the 15% gift cards? How are people getting 50… visiting 10 different stores?

      • Lol yer I drove around for 2 hours.

        • Nice! So the impression I'm getting is negotiable a price, put down a deposit and then hunt down gift cards.

          • +1

@Fractual node: I guess so. In 2 hours I scrapped up $3000 of gift cards. I might do another $1000 tomorrow if I get the chance.

I kinda gave up at the end thinking of how long it would take to just put all the gift cards through.

I might just credit card 1800 and 3000 in cards.

            • @Jklaro: sorry which gift cards are these?

  • +1

Just successfully purchased this. 4801 pricematch, paid entirely in 15% gift cards, came to $4080 delivered same day.

All involved were super friendly, heaps of cards at every store I went to, nobody looking for them. Never got asked for ID, never even got the scam spiel.
Unwrapped/scratched/destickied all the cards for the cashier, went off to a side register, barely anyone coming through the store anyway. Receipt was nearly 5m long.

This will be a great improvement over my 20 year old 40". I guess this is the perks of living in sleepy old Adelaide? I've read some war stories in these comments.

    • any chance you can share the receipt so I can use it for price match? had no luck with local stores :(

      • Can anyone confirm which JB store in Melbourne this has worked for them..please :)

      • I just showed them the VideoPro online listing and they went for it. I've never had any success price matching based on receipt

        • Just tried that and they took videopro delivery into account also

          • @Fractual node: That's a bummer - still, better than no price match. I had no issue, but it really comes down to the rep you get and the quality of your under-the-counter-handy for them

            • @runean: Thanks, I'll try a couple more stores. If it's a no go I'll take it as the universe telling me I should wait for the 83 :)

    • Awesome deal mate - well worth the effort. I'm really happy that I managed to get one for under $5k ($4750 with 5% discounted giftcards), but your deal is next level good. :D

    • Did you buy 5 at a time from Coles or as many in one transaction?

  • Thankyou so much OP, wife and I brought one this morning at Harvey Bay, they had no problems with gift cards from Cole’s, we attacked Hervey Bays two Cole’s yesterday to the tune of $5700.00 worth of cards, (we got a great sound bar and delivery to our remote farm included). We saved $855 in total, so tv was only $4245, bloody marvellous for the OLED. thank OP and OB. BTW receipt measures 6.095 metres! Staff took pics.

    • +1

Great to read this mate! You really made the most of this deal!

  • Got an email this morning that these are on back order and expected to arrive at Sydney warehouse on 21 Dec.

  • they don't do delivery anymore :(

  • would you guys buy extended warranty? It's so expensive. HN sells 4 year warranty for $1000, which is 20% of the value of the TV.

Manufacturer warranty is only 1 yr, but that is crazy. How long are you actually covered under ACL? And what is the extent of your rights? Do you have to go directly to the manufacturer?

    • +1

It's 3.5 years warranty on purchase over $4000 through acl

      • do you have to deal with the retailer or the manufacturer after 1 yr?

Do you think extended warranty grants you anything not included in ACL?

        • Nope not really in the end you will still have your panel fixed or replaced.

I've read that even burn in is covered.

Lg was sued and lost 2 cases dealing with burn in so now they attended to the issue under acl

          • @Jklaro: I've had a good experience dealing with LG. I had a OLED EG9600 with a stuck pixel after a year, HN didn't want anything to do with it. Called LG they replaced the panel. The 3D didn't work on that panel so they upgraded me to an E6.

            • @Fractual node: Nice. That's great to hear. I think lg has stepped up their support since oled.

  • +1

Just installed my 77 c1. I was concerned at the start too much money and I won't be completely blown away by picture. Boy was I wrong this thing is a piece of beauty, blown away. I am coming from a mid rang lg uf850t no hdr edge lit.

But very happy with the purchase.

    • If you're coming from LED you'll definitely be blown away by OLED. I'm coming from a 2016 65OLED, hoping to experience some upgrade for my money.

Probably keep hold my old set as it was the last LG 3D OLED TV and the 3D is amazing.

      • Yer I doubt the increase from 2016 led would be as great as my crappy old lcd

  • I got the sanus vll5 bracket from Harvey Norman for $130 minus 7% gift cards shopback.

The oled fix points are low so the top of the tv hits the wall before you can lock in the brackets feet to install hdmi ect.

    • Return the bracket.

      • I dunno what else would be better. It's fine only when you want to work on the back it doesn't do what it should.

The fact that it has the stand off feet is great. But can't lock it out completely.

I wanted to see if anyone else got it and has same issue.

    • I am using Selby full motion mount.
Its not quite flush. Mount spec says it folds to 9cm from wall. But the extra depth at base of TV, keeps my screen 11-12 cm from wall.
Not a big issue(due to screen size, the gap does not look big), but would have liked bit further recessed. On other hand, it gives me some space at back of TV to hide wifi router.
How much away is your flat screen from the wall?

      • +1

        23mm

        • 23mm must be fold position depth.
But considering TV base itself is 4-5Cm thick, the flat surface must be 7-8cm away from wall i guess.

          • @Sub: Oh yer so the bracket is 23mm plus the base.
