Great price if you already have the Hue system as I do - easy to sync with other lights. I use it in bathroom under the cabinet.

    • Whereas the Lifx ones are great if you dont want a whole system and just want simplicity of individual devices. Each to their own ๐Ÿ˜€

      • so this won't work on it's own? as in i need to get something else for it to work?

        • It will work on itโ€™s own using bluetooth.
If you want to operate it from outside your home you will need a hue hub.

As 3L Milk (excellent username) noted, you can use it on its own with bluetooth, but frankly if you're going to go down that route you can get any old led strip that has a phone app, it'll be cheaper.

To get the most out of it you really need the hub, and have other Hue lights as well to integrate together. Hubs often come up on gumtree because people have bought the starter kits like these when they are on special just for the bulbs, then sell the hub because they already have one. Or look for a BF price drop.

The other thing to note is that the LED spacing on these strips is quite wide. You really, really need to either use a diffuser or get the placement just right, otherwise they will be very hot-spotty. The outdoor strips are better in this regard as they have a higher LED density and built-in diffuser, but are heavier and bulkier. I've got a couple of them that I bought when reduced to use indoors instead of this actual indoor strip. I also use AliExpress led strips with higher led counts, driven by the Gledopto controller which is compatible with Hue.

          • @Astronaut Joe: Can easily get a cheap hub on gumtree/FB market place. I've sold a few on there from the bundle packs for sub $35

        • It integrates pretty well into Google Home. I have two stips that are automated from Google Home.

  • Bunnings always match this just need to wait and touch.

Bluetooth on these was a game changer for me.

  • JB has matched
