Xbox controllers require a usb wireless adapter…… Its so stupid.
PS5 are just Bluetooth, and easily connect.
I also find PS5 controllers more comfortable.
Xbox controllers have Bluetooth. I believe you only need the wireless adapter if you want to connect multiple controllers or don't have bluetooth on your PC.

Im not sure then. I've tried 2 xbox controllers VIA bluetooth, and they connect for 1 second, and then disconnect.
(PS5 and Switch controllers connect fine)
I've had to resort to buying the Windows wireless adapter to get my xbox controller to connect
I once managed to connect 3 Xbox controllers via bluetooth. They worked fine while playing games on a N64 emulator, but windows started doing this random flickering of elements (icons, context menus, etc) that did not stop until I rebooted. I guess that's why they say only 1 controller is recommended via bluetooth, because Windows isn't optimised to work with more than one.
Yeah, controllers which have Bluetooth can connect directly to Windows provided your PC supports BT. My PS5 controller required a third-party program to work with Forza, and is also a common issue.
