hands down get Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart very good price for that game.

    • +10

Yep, looking forward to getting it…$64-79 should have been the release price. Not gonna pay $100 for a game.

    • +5

Ratchet and Clank is visually beautiful, but I have to admit it feels a bit shallow for me, like it runs on rails and lacks variety. Something like Psychonauts 2 on Series X / PC is a much more interesting game, and so is It Takes Two (both on Gamepass).

      • +1

Yup this. It's a pretty game. But I got so bored. Also I found myself "breaking" the game and going to areas you're not supposed to go to early and then realising a few levels later I was missing a power up that would've made it a lot easier lol

        • its on sale now!!
          w000T!!

    • Is it? I got it on launch for what, $80? from Amazon and sold it less than a week later after getting platinum trophy for $60. The game is very very short.

    • i got it for $55 from marketplace and sold it back after finishing + platinum trophy for same price 🙌

very good and enjoyable game but yeah i would not pay rrp for that ever.

    • The price at JB right now is $59, not $64 for this game

      • yep it went down sence then.

  • +17

and LOL at deathloop its already gone down almost half price lol.

    • +6

Guess that’s what happens when games aren’t exclusive

      • +10

It's what happens when it's going to be free on Xbox game pass lol.

        • +1

well Sony do have a service called playstation Now which is essitially gamepass for playstation but its not avaliable in Australia. That is why gamepass took off here.

          • +1

@kungfuman: Well on PC I have been playing for 2 years and only paid $3 total.

On the other hand it also caused me to format my hdd twice so it's a wash.

            • @raptormesh: Yeah I just got it and the whole adding partitions to hard drives is really annoying. Why on earth did they make it this way???

Steam is SO much easier to use in comparison. In fact, every other service seems way better. But teh gamepass. So many titles!

          • +4

@kungfuman: PS Now doesn’t have current gen games to my knowledge. The fact that games like Forza 5 drop day 1 on Gamepass is a huge boon I think (that said, I don’t have an Xbox, and I do have a PS5 haha)

            • @Gregors510: Your not missing out on much with forza

Patch dropped today AI still having issues, no traffic fix or player sync so world just feels barren compared to 4, one of the best cars currently in road racing is BMW SUV even tho you have cash to buy it it’s locked behind a premium pack for 26 dollars and yes the car does make a huge difference.

It seems like game pass is going to be lite version of games while losing with micro transactions just like how halo infinite you have to buy armor colour to recolour your armor while it was free in previous versions

              • @Bootyborne: This comment reads from someone who doesn't even own a Xbox, Game Pass gives you the full game not lite versions of games what are you even on about.

                • +1

@Mooncakes: I’m talking about two exclusives that launched recently. Check my post history it’s nothing but Xbox happy to even take a pic of it for you bud

            • +2

@Gregors510: I have both PS5 and Series X. You would think GamePass Ultimate means I spend less on XBox games. However, that's not the case.

Even for Forza Horizon 5, as I don't want to grind and want the quality of life improvement offered by the premium pack ($62), I've used up close to all of my reward points and still have to spend money on it. You can play Forza Horizon 5 without it, but with the add-on pack, it is more enjoyable and doesn't feel like you need to grind that much.

Also, all these day 1 GamePass games, there is essentially a fair amount of beta testing. Forza Horizon 5 had a lot of glitches. If it weren't because I knew getting Fast Travel unlocked is very important so I did it early (by the way, the premium pack helped as you can target the house that enables fast travel since you get 2 key houses for free), otherwise it would be quite frustrating when the game resets my car position due to quick resume not working. Gears 5 was so buggy initially that it lost some of the items I obtained and PlayAnywhere (mixing XBox One X and PC play) was quite buggy at the beginning.

Forza Horizon 3 (Australia) really needs a 4K/60fps patch, but that's end of life so no chance of getting that. It does feel like Microsoft keeps milking me to pay for expansion packs on Forza Horizon series of games. They do feel repetitive after playing 2, 3, 4 and now 5.

It's annoying that Microsoft keeps on doing micro transactions for first party games. With GamePass Ultimate, you don't actually get the "ultimate" experience if you don't want to cough up some money for those expensive in game purchases. Forza Horizon series has another twist. They will be EOL'ed due to car licensing so if you want to keep playing, you still need to purchase them as Microsoft will remove them from GamePass eventually.

Also, Microsoft is smart. Once it knows your main XBox account and the fact that you are willing to spend money on XBox Live Gold or Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate long term, it will cease offering you $1 Game Pass Ultimate deals.

              • @netsurfer: This is weird, because I've been playing less and less this year and I also have gamepass ultimate.

Something weird about getting free games to try out, but you're not really interested in them. It really is like Netflix.

Sure, the movie/tv show could be good or critically acclaimed, but if I'm not feeling it, I'm probably just adding it to my list and never actually getting round to watching it.

PS5 games were just too expensive and didn't buy them on release, so seeing sales now is good.

                • @pizzaofpeace: Agree with you on not wanting to spend as much time on games nowadays. However, I meant spending as in $$$ spent. Not spending as much on PS5 games mostly because the games are too expensive and not a fan of Ratchet and Clank. Also, I'm bad at souls type game. Games being expensive also not helping. Had some MS rewards points so I thought I use the points. Buying the premium pack for FH5 because I don't want to grind for houses. With the pack purchased, the first real house purchase in game would be the one to enable fast travel. Fast travel is a key part of FH series and FH5 has a large map so fast travel is even more useful.

Gamepass Ultimate is great initially (since you get to catch up on games you wanted to play but didn't purchase). After a while, there is just too many free games (and a lot of them aren't good to be honest) and you no longer value games as much. Need to wait and see what true next gen titles are like. It's hard to be impressed after playing RDR2, some of the Sony PS4 exclusives.

                • +1

@pizzaofpeace: That's because majority of the games are average and not worth the time. With Netflix movies, the worst is sinking 2 hours into a movie.

With a games, it's a lot more than that taking into account of download and update.

My advise is to be super selective with games that are highly acclaimed or play games you know you will definately enjoy.

I have on average 7 hours a week to play games(playing switch on public transport) but I enjoy my gaming time dispite playing less

          • +1

@kungfuman: it took off because you get Xbox 1st party games day 1 on the service plus big AAA 3rd party games sometimes day 1 too, it has nothing to do with PS Now not being here because PS Now isn't big anywhere, whereas Game Pass is.

      • and the advanced haptics DualSense controller support is available on the PC version!

    • +8

It's the curse of Arkane. They make great games that don't sell

  • +7

    hmmm… deathloop @ $39… might finally buy it…

Price match at Eb games and purchase it using recent $5 cashback on $50 gift card offer (via shop back)

    • +2

Totally worth it, it was awesome

    • +1

One of my favourite games of the year

    • +1

My only issue is it's over too quickly.

  • +3

Back 4 Blood only $39 im in.

    • Only for PS5? I know it’s free on game pass but just wondering if the Xbox version is on sale too

  • +4

Definitely picking up Ghosts of Tsushima.

    • +7

Still don't understand why is it still that high price…(I know it's the director version but it just like never drop much).

      • +3

It's only 4 months old and first party titles are always pretty high. Well worth it though, absolutely fantastic game.

        • Yeah, may get it later once I finish the tales of arise and devil may cry 5… :)

        • +11

I mean the actual game is 18 months old.

        • Worth it at $79 if you’ve already played the original on PS4 you reckon?

          • +1

@merriweather: If you've completed base Ghost of Tsushima already then probably not unless you're willing to start again from scratch (but trophies will auto-pop). I loved the game and while Iki Island & PS5 features are great, it's not worth the full price of admission again.

Exception is if you're keen to invest a lot of time in the multi-player then yes, it's worth it. But for singleplayer only, maybe not so much. Wait for a discounted upgrade.

      • +1

Yeah. I've got the original PS4 version but would love to play the extended DLC content for PS5. What's the cheapest best pathway to do that at the moment? Is it still digital download via PS Store? If so, I'm gonna hold off until there's an actual true discount as last time I checked it was close to $50 or such to do so.

      • yeah Iki Island is quite short.

  • +1

Well I have bought half of these for a lot more than that… time to look up refund policies…

    • +1

When did you buy them though?

      • Too long haha.

        • That's why it's great to have a credit card that offers price protection.

  • getting Sonic Colours Ultimate awesome

  • +4

I'm happy to wait for some of these to come down further. It won't be long.

  • +1

hell yes this is what ive been waiting for… will definitely grab GOT and maybe deathloop

  • +14

Just noticed in the screenshot Last of Us 2 is $19.. I know it's sort of been that for a while but honestly if you haven't played it.. It really is worth it especially at that price and it's one of the greatest polished technical achievements in video game history. Story is subjective but the game itself is a wonder to see and play especially now that it's 60fps on PS5

    • 100% agree with everything you've said.

    • Is it any better than TLOU1? I played that for about 3 hours, got bored and never went back.

      • +6

        You won't like it

      • +2

Gameplay is technically the same but has evolved a lot and more polished. TLOU1 was good but I hear the same thing from everyone that didn't play it upon release and played it many years later because you would of played a ton of games after TLOU1 dropped so it would of felt been there done that. But TLOU1 does start slow to set the scene and characters. You definitely should of given it more time. Good for its time because it was more unique then but not so much now. TLOU franchise is very heavy on story so if you are one who's priority is gameplay first and don't usually care about story then it's going to be slightly painful to play. I'm guessing that's why you gave up on TLOU1 because you didn't care for the story which is still up there with one of the best video game stories but each to their own.

        • I didn't really like the story or the gameplay. It all just felt very overrated. Each to their own and all!

      • +1

How long ago did you play it? TLOU1 is probably the only game that I've found universally loved by all including those with different preferences.

Definitely should give it another shot, 3 hours in is nowhere near enough to have made a judgement on it.

If you have PS+/PS5 there's a good chance you already have the game in your library.

To answer your question though, the gameplay is significantly better, however, the story has been extremely divisive, even to me, but I eventually appreciated the meaning/symbolism of it all only a week or so after completing it. The game does extremely well to play with your emotions, so much so that it makes people forget about the actual point it was trying to get across, which ironically shows just how good the game was at doing its job.

        • I got the remaster for PS4 and it was fairly cheap so around 2016? I got it from the PS Store so I still own it. Might give it another go one day.

      • Yep this was me, initially. I was thinking, how can this be a GOTY??? But a friend told me to keep at it, so I did. I'm so glad he did. Play and story got better. A lot better. Finished it, then played TLOU2 right after.

And this all happened this year. So I was quite behind for TLOU1 being an old game.

Another friend said skip TLOU1, watch the videos on YT and go straight to TLOU2. I'm glad I didn't take the shortcut!

        • +1

I might try again then. I found it so overrated!

          • +1

@ldt: It starts slow but the story opens up and so does the pacing. Take it for what it is and just enjoy the story, the story is good and the gameplay is very good. There's so many ways you can go about taking down enemies, you can see people on youtube do it and see how violent and amazing it can get if you know what you are doing. Just a fantastic game overall. Obviously it's starting to show its age but as far as video game stories go, it's up there with the best.

      • TLOU1 is a game which has a stronger second half (especially the story). Problem is, if you cannot be bothered sink in enough hours, then you probably won't like it. Also, while the graphics was great at the time, it is no longer that impressive in today's standard.

TLOU2 arguably has the best graphics for a PS4 / PS4 Pro game. The story isn't everyone's cup of tea. I feel it is written more for a TV series, rather than a game (so TPTB just goes for suspense and shock factors). If it's $19, even checking out the graphics would be worth it. Since you haven't finished part 1, I reckon you might enjoy the part 2 story.

Personally, I found TLOU (both parts) overrated. Also, not impressed with the arrogance of Neil. He clearly knew TLOU2 won game of the year beforehand (due to Covid, the award show was pre-recorded). It won because the votes from critics carry more weight that despite not winning votes from players, it still won.

    • +2

I thought the story was excellent as well. Gets you very emotionally invested and is told extremely well. The haters who don't like the relationship aspects in it and knock the game purely for that are not giving the game a fair assessment.

      • -1

I don't get why people who love part 2 keep assuming they know why some people dislike part 2. Relationship aspects being the reason? Really? How did you get that?

Fundamentally, the issue is this: had part 2 had the same 2 writers who wrote part 1, it wouldn't be like this (and would not divide the fan base as much). The main issue with the story is that due to the success of part 1, one of the main writers basically has all the power to do what he feels like (the other one left the company). The story for part 2 is unbalanced, which is fine for a TV series (coz. we are used to TPTB do whatever they feel like), but is that really the best thing for a game? There is just a bit too much of his way or the high way.

There is a repeat of the story formula being used. Someone important to the protagonist died early in the game. A mission was set out. The mission was once again unaccomplished. The difference is that part 1 makes you wonder about the moral compass. Part 2 is more about doing the right thing. Part 2 requires time jumps in order to work (or that's what the writers think).

It's disappointing Naughty Dog elected to go down this path for Part 2. I hope it is just a once off. Because if Naughty Dog continued this trend, Uncharted 5 won't happen, at least not with Nathan Drake as the main protagonist (I doubt Neil enjoys working with Nolan North). However, I think it is better Naughty Dog try something new. I don't really want TLOU3 with mission unaccomplished 3.

    • -1

Nice, I've been waiting for the price of TLOU2 to drop.

    • Does the 60fps still apply for playing the PS4 version on PS5?

      • +1

I don't believe there is an actual PS5 version of TLOU2, so yes.

      • Yes, it's just a patch on PS5 for 60fps. No PS5 version.

  • +1

Is Deathloop worth $39.. I'm still sitting here like it's not my type of game but first person shooters are my fav genre so I feel even if it's half decent it may be worth it?

    • it's not my bag, but I do like Arkane games, Metacritic rating is quite high, and play mag gave it a 10. It's interesting that pro critics seem to love it, but general gamers not so much - 6.3 by users on Metacritic. I'm still going to wait for a lower price for this one. Thinking about ratchet though - could be a good Christmas present.

      • +1

Ratchet is 100% worth it.. I completed it upon release.. It is a well made and fun game. You don't need to think about it. One of the best PS5 games this year. :)

    • I couldn't get into it to be honest, but it was cool as hell. I think you need it in long play sessions.

      • What was your problem with Deathloop? It bored you? Gameplay wasn't fun etc.? Just trying to understand if worth it at $39 still lol

        • +2

I am a dad of a young kid with very little time for games to be honest, but I buy em all! I think the way that it loops requires a bit of memory/long play sessions to get the most out of it and I just couldn't commit. Also it seemed the game was skewed more towards stealth, I just love blowing crap up, so struggled to stay quiet.

          • @cc23: The game tracks almost everything for you up until the final day. I do agree, I've played it mostly in stealth mode and then guns blazing when I'm spotted.

    • Deathloop was brilliant. One of the best games I’ve personally played in a few years.

    • I recommend getting it. It's so good! The combat is tight and the live die repeat approach is really fun.

    • +1

At $39 it is a bargain. It is just such a fun game. It isn't perfect, but it has been a while since I have had such simple fun in a game.

    • +1

If you like single player FPS then give it a go. Similar to BioShock in a way. Visuals are great, gun play feels awesome especially with the DualSense. Voice acting is superb and story is alright.

    • I found it a fun playthrough, although not a 10/10, more a 7.5/10.

Once you finish it, there's barely any reason to go back.

      • +1

I rarely ever go back in any case - seems both Deathloop and Ratchet are nominated in this year's gamer awards for game of the year, best game direction, and best art direction (and other awards), so both would be recommended.

  • Been waiting for a drop in Rift Apart so I can claim price protection.

Definitely worth getting at this price for anyone who hasn't played it. Also has a relatively easy platinum trophy if you're into that stuff and the game has maintained its resale value really well so you could just sell it for close to what you bought it for after completing it.

  • Owesome, have been waiting for these:)

  • +2

500GB Samsung T5 Portable SSD $88 - if anyone interested…Doesn’t play off PS5 though but have heard the transfer speeds are faster.

    • +1

500GB external SSD doesn't make sense for PS5 (too small), especially for these games, which are mostly PS5 games.

      • +2

It makes sense to play PS4 games on the PS5, I've got a WD Blue 500GB especially for that.

        • For OZBers? I've got a 2TB PCIe gen 4 NVMe SSD for ~$310 from one of the OZB deals. So for now, no need to move PS5 games to a portable SSD or HDD.

PS4 games, 500GB is enough? Even if it is, I thought the 1TB T5 was close to low one hundred mark before. What's the urgency of getting a portable SSD to play PS4 games all of the sudden? T5 is SATA3 based and while it does support USB 3.1/3.2 gen 2, it doesn't take full advantage of it.

          • @netsurfer: $310 is a lot to spend on storage for the NVMe. I’ve got my PS5 games on console SSD and PS4 games on an external SSD. Approx 1.1GB storage, that’s enough. Cost was about $60.

      • +1

Returnal was only around 50GB…500GB is enough for me.

I just deleted COD and warzone which freed up 300GB on my PS5 hard drive, getting ready for Battlefield 2042.😲

  • Anyone got the inside word on Nintendo Switch deals coming up?

Waiting for Black Friday but need to get one for a Christmas present

  • Amazon or Big W be cheaper ?

    • Amazon will price match at the very least

  • I payed $54 for death loop just over a month ago and it's a really good game, my first ps5 only game.

  • Hmm deathloop for $39 is mighty tempting… or do I just wait now until it’s in gamepass mid next year… classic Bethesda game though, dirt cheap within barely 2 months of launch. Even when it’s a game of the year contender.

  • Was hoping for a sale on Demon's Souls PS5 but looks like that's not to be :(

    • Amazon answered your prayers

    • I bought Demon Souls PS5 + $1 item from BIGW today using the commbank $20 little birdie voucher off $50. Total spend $30.

  • Here is hoping for an Amazon price match!
