Thanks OP. Loved the first one, looking forward to playing another game as my favourite character, Joel. I can't wait to see what sort of adventures he gets up to this time.

Joel is amazing in Part II, the adventures he has with the new crew are so much fun.

Oh yeah, Joel’s character development is above par.

They really went above and beyond to flesh out the backstory behind his love for golfing, truly an inspirational moment.

    • can wait to see him again in part 3

    Part II is truly amazing

There are video games, and then there is The Last of Us Part II, a game that dares to break all conventions—especially the ones that made its predecessor great. Naughty Dog, in their infinite wisdom, took one of the most beloved stories in gaming history and thought, “You know what this needs? Pain. And lots of it.”

From the very beginning, the game wastes no time in subverting expectations. Remember Joel, the complex, rugged, deeply flawed yet beloved protagonist who spent an entire game forming an unbreakable bond with Ellie? Well, get ready to see him… for about 20 minutes. But don’t worry! His presence in the game is unforgettable—mainly because of the very special way he’s sent off. Why let players continue their journey with him when you can have him brutally murdered in front of Ellie’s eyes within the first act? Bold move, Naughty Dog. Some might even say too bold.

And let’s talk about the story itself. Instead of giving players the emotional sequel they craved, The Last of Us Part II delivers something even better: a revenge plot so exhausting and nihilistic that by the end, you’ll question why you even cared in the first place! The character arcs? Brilliantly deconstructed. Ellie, once a lovable, determined survivor, now spends the game making increasingly questionable decisions, only to ultimately… let it all go. A satisfying conclusion? Who needs that? Closure is overrated!

But the real star of the show? Abby. Ah, Abby. The muscle-bound, golf-club-wielding warrior who single-handedly steals the spotlight. Some might say the game bends over backwards to make players sympathize with her, but hey, who doesn’t love a good forced perspective shift? By the end, you’ll love her just as much as the developers do—whether you want to or not.

In the end, The Last of Us Part II is a game that shatters expectations, crushes nostalgia, and replaces emotional attachment with a relentless, bleak experience that you’ll never forget. It’s not the story we wanted, but it’s certainly the one we got. And for that, we can only stand in awe of the sheer audacity. Bravo, Naughty Dog. Bravo.

  • And then there is this port to PC that is not up to par according to Digital Foundry, I'd hope the bugs get patched soon . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0IoZxiv1i0
