I recall trying some about a decade ago. The flavour lasted about 7 seconds.

I've no facts to back it up, but I reckon they changed the recipe at some stage in the last 30 years.
So it arrived today and after trying it again for the first time since childhood…
They're smaller and all white now instead of purple and no printing on the wrapper which are all changes to be expected I guess. However, there's nowhere near the amount of flavour, not even in the beginning which is then, as you said, gone fast.
It's also far more chewing gum than bubblegum now. This doesn't have anywhere near the same consistency anymore either, it's pretty much just hard rubbery chewing gum, not that soft stuff with which you could blow giant bubbles, so the niece and nephew are disappointed.
Oh well, let's see if Polywaffles are the same when they're back next year.

bought the multi-flavoured 4 pack a bit ago for a hit of nostalgia. All I got was jaw pain and a flavourless gum 30 seconds after chewing it.
I miss the Cola flavour Hubba Bubba, looks like they stopped making them years ago.
