You must be high if you think anyone will pay that annual fee.

Hi, this is certainly a niche product, but there are definitely people who find it to be good value. It depends on how much you use (and value) the various benefits.

This is a bloody good deal if you can freely travel like the good ‘ol days. Does the secondary card holder also gets their own priority pass access or is it just the primary holder?

    • Hi, yes one Additional Card Member can also get Priority Pass membership.

That’s usd 429x2 for priority pass (plus free guest). Bloody good deal.

The Amex Explorer with $395 annual fee is offering 240,000 rewards points. The Platinum should up its game above 240k points surely…!

  • I think I screwed up my credit file by opening too many credit cards this year. I got rejected by St George today and Humm instantly just then.

Anyone know how long till I have to wait till my credit file becomes healthy again? I'm starting to get worried….

Here's my credit card history I applied for this year

    ANZ - Closed May 2021
    Westpac - Closed November 2021
AMEX - 7k limit currently open

Everyday day credit cards I had for number of years
Citibank - 16k limit currently open
    28 degrees - 2k limit currently open.

    Thanks.

    • At one stage I have had 6 cards all current. Dont think the number of cards matter, especially nowadays with positive credit reporting.

      • My credit savvy report shows 811 which is borderline excellent

Close the Citibank the limit is too high and many banks will just auto reject on that.

      • I can't, it is my fee free card and its setup for Citipayall rewards points which nets me ~$42 per month

        • Prob need higher income for the unsecure credit.

I would be reluctant to let it drop below excellent.

          • @[Deactivated]: I meet the minimum income requirement

            • @Homr: But that doesnt determine the credit rating. TBH, no idea how it is calculated.

Min income requirement is the min requirement. Eg. CC provider might have a min annual income of $10. When someone applies for 5 CC, it is not unreasonable for banks to consider a min annual income of $50… instead of meeting min income of $10 and freely issue out 5 CCs.

Bit of a blackbox on credit assessment, and each bank uses a different model.

PS. $18k limit is not alot and shouldnt have much impact to credit rating. Not sure if they have factored in the number applications within a short period of time.

      • Can you reduce the limit to 6K?

        • +1

Some cards got a minimum amount of credit limit assigned. Usually platinum cards are min 6k and higher ones are 15k.

          • @[Deactivated]: Yeah I thought the fee free ones were 6K and the Platinum was 15K but could be wrong.

    • I have got 1 credit card and I thought if I apply for another credit card with different bank and they will ask me whether I have any other credit card and based on that they will reject my application. Isn't that right?

    • If your application gets rejected by any CC that's managed by Citi Group for whatever reason, you will get instantly rejected if you apply for any other Citi Group card. I spoke to their rep on the phone and was told you have to wait for 3 months before applying for another Citi run card after rejection.
