[Unobtainable Deal] Extra $15 off (or 98% off Items < $15) e.g. Ethernet Cable $0.07 Delivered (OOS) @ Harris Technology eBay

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Greetings everyone, not exactly sure why but as identified in the Ryzen 9 Deal, it seems as though Harris Technology have a coupon which automatically applies on their store which is $15 off with no minimum spend.

However for items under $15, the discount is 98%, therefore there are items such as ethernet cables which are $0.07 delivered. But for items over $15, it applies the full $15 discount.

NOTE: For eBay Plus members, the eBay Plus express shipping comes up as default, make sure to remove this at checkout and change it to free normal shipping otherwise it will charge $15 delivery.

As always, enjoy :)

Mod 11/11 - Order cancellation email sent 7/11, refunds/cancellations via eBay are also coming through in the past days.

Email from HT 7/11:

Dear Customer,

We are writing to you to advise you that a mistake was made by one of our staff members when offering an eBay coupon to one individual customer on 3 November.

Due to inexperience, the $15 coupon was made public and was shared across Ozbargain, when it was originally intended for private use by one person.

We are very sorry for the mistake. Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfill the unexpected orders we received therefore the order/s will be cancelled. We value you as a customer, and will offer you a coupon of $15 for a minimum spend of $100. We hope this good-will gesture is satisfactory to you and we look forward to servicing you again soon.

COUPON: 28QNXRDW7ZDQTCL
Please note: This coupon is for your private use, once only valid from 6-November-21 until 31-December-21

Email from eBay:

We are sorry to let you know that harristechnologyaustralia cancelled your order and mentioned the cancellation reason as 'Something was wrong with the buyer's delivery address.'

You received a refund AU $X.XX back to your original payment method, you don't need to do anything else. It may take 3 to 5 business days for the refund to be completed.

    • How did you manage that when eBay only allows you to use 1 coupon per order?

      • +2

eBay allows you to use one coupon issued by eBay per order.

The coupon in this deal was issued by the seller, not eBay.

        • +1

Worked out well when a bike shop had a 30% off sale and ebay were doing 20% off sporting goods.

  • +2

Anyone actually had their order(s) cancelled and/or refunded?
Got the email but it's not been official canceled in eBay

    • +3

not yet. i'll give them until end of Tuesday.

      • What are you planning to do if still refund by end of Tuesday?

        • +1

well i'm going to ask them what they intend to do with the order, if they intend to cancel and refund or send out my item. tell them if i don't hear from them in a couple of days, i will have to file a dispute with ebay, and if necessary still, file a chargeback. not gonna threaten them with neg feedback yet, just give them a chance to communicate with me, as opposed to the generic bs letter everyone else got.

          • @tdw: Let us know on the outcome

            • @HairyChickens: Just wait for it and lodge a chargeback via your CC issuer. Will cost HT more than the $15 saved.

              • @[Deactivated]: can I do a chargeback if I paid by paypal?

                • @RichardF89: No idea tbh. Not sure what the arrangement between HT and their merchant facility provider.

            • +1

@HairyChickens: got refunded early this morning

  • +11

A director left today from the company.

  • +8

They try not to cancel the order but wanted customer to cancel so they don't need to pay cancellation cost.

I won't cancel order but lodge case on eBay for not sending product and not issuing refund and then leave negative review….as well .. !

    • +2

Just wait for it and lodge a chargeback via your CC issuer. Will cost HT more than the $15 saved.

    • Same waiting for the day the item can be disputed with ebay

      • +3

Sht thing is that ebay removes the negative feedback once dispute is 'resolved'.

I would leave negative feedback and lodge a chargeback so feedback remains on their profile.

        • +1

I paid with my westpac debit card via Apple Pay, would the bank chargeback? Apparently its much easier to chargeback via credit card since its the banks money

          • @jayboi: Doesn't doing a chargeback take a really long time? Like 3-6 months?

            • +1

@videoman: If I chargeback would eBay ban me?

            • @videoman: only a 20c I don't mind wait a long time

              • +1

@RichardF89: As long as HT has to pay some fee and I don't get banned from eBay then I'm happy, don't care about the money. Hope they learn a lesson and don't lie to us next time.

  • What does it cost to HT if they choose to cancel the order?

    • +1

It decreases their seller performance rating and increases their defect rate, which impacts the position of their listings in the search results.

    • Regardless of who cancels, they have a 30c fee per order which never gets refunded. The other stuff tka has mentioned.

  • +1

I'm going to message them about my 3 orders which haven't shipped or been cancelled yet.

  • my order still shows "Paid" in the app and when i click on the order then it says "Shipped" to be delivered before 16th November so I will wait until 16th November before lodging ebay case…. and get it charge back from paypal.

    • How do I lodge an eBay case? Message support or click I didn't receive item? I used a MasterCard gift card so a chargeback might be annoying to deal with so I want to choose the next best option to cause the most pain :)

      • I still haven't recieved my Ebay/Paypal cancellation/refund confirmation yet, so do I need to wait until the estimate delivery date has elapsed before I can file a complaint?

  • +19

We are sorry to let you know that harristechnologyaustralia cancelled your order and mentioned the cancellation reason as 'Something was wrong with the buyer's delivery address.'

    • tut-tut

    • Can you report to ebay?

    • I had a feeling they may use that (poor) excuse!

Can someone well versed in eBay explain exactly why HT would want to use that as the cancellation reason? I’m assuming their eBay seller rating does not suffer, or something like that?

    • Is that an email or something?
      When did you receive it?

      • +1

I received the exact same email for my two orders, received it today at 8:06 PM. I can not able to give any feedback since it has been cancelled and refunded

        • interesting, have not receive anything with my 2 orders :(

          • @AsukaST: If they can't find any excuses then they need to send the orders hope you'll receive it

    • +5

How dodgy is the fake address cancellation.

  • +2

The seller sent you a refund
    Hi Username,
We are sorry to let you know that harristechnologyaustralia cancelled your order and mentioned the cancellation reason as 'Something was wrong with the buyer's delivery address.'
    You received a refund.

    • Got the same email and received a refund.

  • +2

Email from eBay just came through:

The seller sent you a refund

    Hi XXXX,

We are sorry to let you know that harristechnologyaustralia cancelled your order and mentioned the cancellation reason as 'Something was wrong with the buyer's delivery address.'

You received a refund AU $XXXX back to your original payment method, you don't need to do anything else. It may take 3 to 5 business days for the refund to be completed.

    • I got the same e-mail. Why are they stating "'Something was wrong with the buyer's delivery address." as the cancellation reason?

  • +5

They cancel your order for a BS excuse, and due to this, you can’t leave feedback.

    • +4

Yep. Just got my order canceled and waiting on refund.

      Can’t leave feedback.

Reason for cancelation: “Issue with buyer’s delivery address”

My fault? No. What a bunch of lying a-holes.

Is there any way to report them to eBay?

    • +1

You can leave and should leave feedback on the cancelled orders.
You can do this from tonight depending on when you ordered.

  • +1

I thought I was one of the lucky ones as they'd already left me positive feedback and I'd only bought one low cost item. Then I got their stupid email too

  • +1

How can ebay allow that? It's blatantly circumventing their own seller policies

    • Last time Adidas did the same thing, I was able to jump on eBay chat and get a free voucher issued

  • +5

Fam we can still leave feedback after our order is cancelled:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/fdbk/leave_feedback?filter=giver_rol…

    • +9

If that stops working for some reason, here's another way to leave negative feedback:
      1. click on see cancel details for the cancelled order
      2. grab the item id and the transaction id from the URL
      example: https://www.ebay.com.au/Cancel/Details?itemId=YOURITEMID&transId=YOURTRANSACTIONID
      3. replace the item id and transaction id in the following URL with the ones you copied in step 2
      https://www.ebay.com.au/fdbk/leave_single_feedback?item_id=YOURITEMID&transaction_id=YOURTRANSACTIONID
      4. open the url and leave negative feedback

      • Thanks for this. It's advising that I still need to wait 7 days before I can leave neg feedback

        • 7 days from when you ordered, so we will be at 7 days very soon.

        • Yes I probably would not have left bad feedback BUT now they lie and said a problem with my delivery address so I can't easily leave feedback I certainly will do now using AwesomeAndrew method above…

    • Thanks. I am super annoying when they blamed it on my address.

  • I'll leave negative feedback once my item arrives.

    • If it arrives…

It's too early to leave feedback today. We need to wait 7 days before the system lets us leave negative feedback

Tomorrow is the date that I can leave negative feedback. Can't wait.

  • +1

Jump on to eBay chat guys. They will reissue the generic vouchers for you as compensation

    • What exactly do I say for them to give it?

      • Just tell them the seller incorrectly cancelled as your address was correct.
As a result type voucher was wasted and you'd like a replacement if possible

        • Thanks, going to chat to them now

        • +3

Thanks mate, i did a chat and this what eBay said and no vouchers :-(
          ****11:15 AM
In this case we can report the seller from our end.
          *****11:15 AM
Once you report a seller their details will be transferred to a investigating team and the issue wand actions of seller will be looked into if there are any similar actions occurred to other members with the seller then the seller will face restrictions on their account.

          • +1

            @TechVisar: same here no voucher.

As a general support executive I have my limitations and I hope you will understand my situation in here.

            • +1

@RichardF89: is that Ab***v? if its then he is the one handling these complaints specifically for "harristechnologyaustralia"
I hope more complaints makes the "harristechnologyaustralia" get restrictions in eBay.
I don't mind a seller cancel an order, but its need to be a perfect reason not a pathetic reason

          • -1

@TechVisar: Chances are the first person you talk to will not have the authority to issue you a voucher. You need to keep on complaining until they transfer you to someone who has the authority to give you the voucher.

            • @videoman: This is was transferred and the expert was Abhi**v.

        • +7

I just chatted to eBay CS and they sent an email to me saying this

I have checked the details and also updates shared by our management with regards to the issue happened with this seller. What happened with this seller is that one of his employee by mistake shared the buyer specific coupon code publicly on Ozbargain site. Actually seller wants to share it with one specific buyer privately but it went public by mistake due to his employee error. Seller has contacted us to inform about this issue. 6138 transactions took place due to this coupon.

Looks like HT lied to eBay too.
          Shame on them.

The story is constantly changing up too. They now say their employee shared it to Ozbargain when OP isn't associated

          • @jayboi: Specific coupon code that was advertised on ebay…..HT is as bad with the internet as they are being a tech store.

          • +3

@jayboi: The lie doesn't even make any sense. Why would an employee share an individual code for a specific customer (which doesn't ring true given it was generic AND advertised on ebay) by posting it on ozbargain?

          • +3

            @jayboi: 6138 lol
            They certainly got hammered :)

            • @popsiee: That’s actually less than I expected. If it’s only 6138 orders, x$15 would be $92k (probably less if you take away the mark-ups and the fact some orders were less than $15). You would think they can take that hit as a multi-million dollar company rather than risking their reputation and the neg brigade.

            • @popsiee: nearly $92,000 worth in 7 hours :)

          • +1

            @jayboi: Almost corporate fraud

          • +1

@jayboi: Yes they lied, not only HT, eBay also makes lies most likely they are supporting HT, when I chat with eBay, told me the voucher issued by the HT and they have no control on them and don't aware of this situation.

  • +2

I got a refund confirmation from Paypal this morning at 2am for 1 out of my 2 orders. Surprisingly the order I made as guest after my first order was done, was the one that got refunded first. Still waiting for confirmation for the order I made first when logged in to be refunded now.

    • If they don't, you might want to lodge a dispute.

    • Update just got my 2nd and final refund email confirmation from Paypal.

Shared this to my sister and she got her ebay gift card reimbursed immediately.

  • +22

It would seem that they have finally started cancelling orders. (rather than directly emailing me directly advising that they won't honour the discount)
In the refund, they cited the reason "Something is wrong with the buyer's delivery address"

This can be reported via this link.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/help/action?topicId=4850

    Otherwise as above mentioned:
Fam we can still leave feedback after our order is cancelled:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/fdbk/leave_feedback?filter=giver_rol…

    OR…..
If that stops working for some reason, here's another way to leave negative feedback:
    1. click on see cancel details for the cancelled order
    2. grab the item id and the transaction id from the URL
    example: https://www.ebay.com.au/Cancel/Details?itemId=YOURITEMID&tra…
    3. replace the item id and transaction id in the following URL with the ones you copied in step 2

    4. open the url and leave negative feedback

      Great to have the breakdown.

I would also suggest Google Reviews.

    • +3
    • Thanks reported them,

      harristechnologyaustralia

the seller doesn't want to complete the transaction

      Additional Details:-
"Seller provided false information 'Issue with buyer's delivery address'. This is false, there is not a problem with my delivery address.

The coupon code I used is now gone. The seller email me that the coupon code was shared on a website and not suppose to be for me, also false as this coupon code was on ebay"

      • can't seem to do it anymore. "Invalid User ID" hmmm.
Nevermind. Something was glitching with my eBay user - I've logged out and back in and it works.
        Reported.

  • +2

Great. Order got cancelled due to "Issue with buyer's delivery address"

  • +6

I am waiting eagerly to post my negative feedback and to see how many get raised within the next 24hrs haha.

    • +2

we are all waiting for the 7 day minimum period

    • +1

The second of my 2 orders just got cancelled… revoked my + vote but cheers for the free feedback OP.

The cancellation reason alone by HT warrants negs, even though I realise why sellers choose that reason.

  • +5

I just dropped my eBay negative feedback on them - it was very therapeutic :)

  • +1

Their starting to Get hammered with Neg Feedback I can see.

  • +7

Well HT asked for it when they falsely accused the Ozbargain community, and now it is time for the Ozbargain Community to launch their wrath with all the Negative Feedback.

They have screwed with the wrong customers.

  • +13

My eBay Seller Issue Report was as follows:

This seller baited and switched buyers, by drawing them in with a fraudulent $15 coupon.

The seller has misled eBay that this coupon was distributed in an unauthorised manner, when the coupon was instead widely advertised across eBay. This coupon was further automatically applied by the store at checkout.

Orders were subsequently cancelled under the false pretence of there being issues with all buyers' address details, in order to prevent an impact to their seller rating and pass this off as the buyer's fault.

A "goodwill" replacement coupon issued requiring a significant minimum spend was then sent to buyers privately, outside of eBay. Unfortunately, these dishonest sales tactics fit the textbook example of bait and switch schemes, and I will be duly reporting these to the ACCC and NSW Fair Trading. Such practices are unconscionable at best; and at worst, deceptive.

I trust eBay will take appropriate and adequate action to protect buyers.
