  • I don’t suppose OzB has the referral system setup for CDC Exchange?

  • Anyone successfully claiming energy bills on CDC visa? Need to chose a new plan.

I suspect most cards would attract a fee where's direct debit from bank account is free

    Cheers

    • If you didn't know already, utility companies are on the cashback exclusion list.
You can use Sniip to get around this if your bill has Bpay but Sniip now have a 0.85% fee on AU issued CDC cards.

      • Yeah I've heard/read that, worth a go but all they'd do is give you 0% back I imagine (or the payment wouldn't go through)?

        • +2

Yeh payment goes through and you get 0% back, I've tried before.

  • Does anyone know if topping up the crypto card with debit/credit card incurs surcharges?

    • +3

      Don't group debit/credit together - they're very different.

There's no surcharge for debit card topups, but there's multiple charges for credit cards because it's counted as a "cash advance" transaction. Don't ever use a credit card for things like this unless you want to be reamed 👍

      • good to know, thanks!

and that's the end of that deal. Major changes to the perks. Far lower cashback, no staking reward. It's not all gone, but they've effectively killed it.

    • Yeah it’s *gone from a great deal to a below average one. I’m just going to keep it for Spotify and Netflix cashback. But even then do I need to have an active stake after 1 June?

      • I tried to use the Loungekey today at Melbourne and it wouldn't connect to their network. The cafe couldn't connect either. It was probably Melbourne airports wifi. Annoying though as free $36 puts a big dent in a Launceston to Melbourne fare.

and now watch our staked $$ in CRO go down the toilet (just like SocialGood has. I've gone from US$4000+ to US$500 in that. Luckily it was all bonuses and cashbacks).

      • I think you do need the stake still for netflix and spotify. Its more a gamble now - it may recover in years to come and this will look like nothing, or it could be on a fast death spiral.

I cant seem them failing entirely - they have huge brand presence now with stadium and jersey sponsorships, a quality app, a burgeoning de-fi ecosystem and probably the best domain name in crypto.

But doing this so dramatically and comprehensive is brutal and a real kick in the teeth

    • Guess people have been ditching (crono price has dropped 30% in the last week, 42% in the last month) or they have spent too much on advertising & sponsorship.
No doubt 3% cashback has cost them a lot, would have been better getting it back in currency.

Bunch of pricks, still got 30 days to go with the Jade stake. Can't do anything about it, depends if the prices will bounce back, should have been a relatively stable coin being the first widespread crypto visa card but just a ponzie like anything else. Can't even use for purchases or top up card with cronos (only when converted to BTC / Luna).

Not sure what to do after the staking period is over, hopefully doesn't go to nothing. Not worth getting out when the prices are down, suppose after the stake try and improve the price with buy/sell in the waves. Haven't done anything with the cashbacks, still sitting in cronos.

Agree will probably keep for Netflix reimbursement (not that Turkey costs much, but not sure how long that will last) but already have two international / fee-free cards/accounts.
@billybob1978, I didn't think we had to stake to get the netflix reimbursements. Would have been good if they gave Amazon prime to Jades to make it worthwhile.
All the cashbacks don't amount to much compared to price-protection claims from my 28 degrees purchases.

Ps no 10% staking rewards is a bummer, assumed that used to only apply for the 6 month staking period or if you left the money staked?

      • Same situation and thinking as me. You can bet who sold their CRO before announcing this.

        • Always late to the party with all this crap..
Probably should have got in and out a few months earlier, although they only offered it in SGD for a fair while. Also takes a lot of time and effort monitoring and staying up to date with whichever coin, stock etc.

  • was thinking to get this crypto card, but after all the reads, I guess it is not worth to apply the card anymore?

The card benefits have become less and less. Just got their email about the Spotify… rebates will finish after 23-1/2023.

      • Yep was good while it lasted. I’ll keep using it for everyday items now that they have Apple Pay but I’ll cancel Spotify when they stop that benefit.

This has turned out to be the biggest con. The ACCC should be investigating to see if the people that run it sold their stakes before announcing all the benefit cuts and fee hikes (like the 3% foreign transaction fee just announced). Classic pump n dump job. If you look up the CEO's history you'll see he has dubious history.

I put in 10-11k (now worth 3k). I feel for those that went for the 50 or 500k tiers. Of course you get fluctuations with crypto, but this was so obviously due to the cut in benefits (which were actually minimal). I only ever was able to use Loungekey once out of a possible 6-8 times in major airports.

    • I’m really sorry this has happened to you… I was tempted to do this for the perks but in the end decided not to because it’s not what I’m in crypto for. This is just tradfi dressed up in crypto clothes.
I hope this wasn’t your introduction to crypto but if it was, please don’t judge crypto based on this experience… this really isn’t crypto

  • Starting on 14 Nov 2022, we will be introducing a 3% foreign transaction fee for all non-AUD purchases and ATM withdrawals.

These dogs taking everything away - pretty pointless almost, but not worth claiming a capital loss just yet until I have some profits. They CRO still worth nothing much now but luckily still have 28 degrees and my citi card for any o/seas purchases. Mongrels spent all their money on advertising, bit of a ponsie scheme.
