Indeed. 36% up since i staked!

Still haven't got it, should have when it was 25c
Usually a yoyo, it's the highest record price hard to know

        • I should have bought it when it was 8c.

Still worth buying now than not buying at all tbh.

In fact I wish I had a lot more money and had staked the Jade Green card tier instead of Ruby Red 6 months ago.

My financial priorities were my newborn, so I guess I made the right call at the time.

You can still set price alerts and buy in on any future dips.

I’m still hoping for another dip or two so I can add more coins to my fattening portfolio.

    • and thats just from australia. Imagine if they had a US card. The price would go over $2

      • They just got listed on Coinbase.

        • Which is a positive for them.

  • I had a look at the booking.com link from the bottom of the main user page in the app. Not quite 25% off (up to). Does anyone know if you have to book using the crypto card or just whatever. Wondering what the best deal on accommodation is.

    Cheers

    • I must admit the only things I’ve heard about using the card for booking.com are negatives.

Don’t know for certain, but when you work out how, just double check the price (Like any good ozbargainer) on their site first.

  • Can we withdraw the stake after 6 months and still continue to get the benefit? i.e. 2% and free monthly spotify?

    • I think i saw the cashback 2% require continue staking.. but couldn't find the details for the spotify

    • not too sure, but I think if its not unstated, you still gets the benefit.

    • +1

      I can answer. It’s a big no.

IN fact I’m the app they have a toggle switch to shop the staked/unstaked beneifts.

To be honest. At Ruby level, as it’s only $500, I wouldn’t sweat over leaving it in there.
I’m not a higher earner by any means, but with 6 months of Ruby I gained more than $200 in CRO by using the Ruby Card.

Oh, and if your stake higher, your staked amount receives interest as well.
Jade green $5000 to stake, and your get %10APY on it.
Thus, in the 6 months stake you will earn more than $250 from the staked amount. Which you can further in things like crypto earn and supercharger. I was earning anywhere from %6 to %12.4APY on my CRO from my cash backs,
And then, like any good financial adviser will tell you: There’s only two words on how to become rich 1)compound 2) interest. Just keep on rolling those coins over and over.

      No, of course not.

  • Is the AU card work with Suncorp Benefits or Woolworths discount gc portal? Has anyone tried it yet? Do you get cashback when buying discount gc?

    • If it’s in this list then no:

      https://help.crypto.com/en/articles/4597450-restriction-of-c…

For me I was disappointed to learn that I couldn’t claim my mortgage as a cash back.
Mind you, I have heard of a guy who paid his rent massively in advance and claimed that as a cash back.

But a word of warning. I’ve heard horror stories of people getting caught trying to scam the CDC and get caught.

      • But a word of warning. I’ve heard horror stories of people getting caught trying to scam the CDC and get caught.

I'm curious as to why you say scam the CDC - do you mean they try to claim cashback on the restricted merchants? In which case, shouldn't they just not give cashback or do they automatically give cashback on everything then claim you are rorting the system?

As a consumer, if I were to use this crypto card as an everyday spend card, I wouldn't want to have to keep an eye on ineligible merchants for each transaction…It's a pretty big list of categories and how do you even see what the MCC of a merchant is before spend?

        • I'm curious as to why you say scam the CDC

They figure out a loop where they pay an insurer for example, they get the cashback, then they cancel the policy and get a refund.

This is where the restricted list came from on the first place.

I wouldn't want to have to keep an eye on ineligible merchants for each transaction

You don't need to keep an eye on anything. You just don't use the card for government billing or financial services.

It's a pretty big list of categories

Not really, it boils down to government and financial.

and how do you even see what the MCC of a merchant is before spend

You can look them up on the Visa site.

          • @Nom:

They figure out a loop where they pay an insurer for example, they get the cashback, then they cancel the policy and get a refund.

Ok that's fair enough, that's gaming any sort of cashback system, not just this one and something a regular user wouldn't do intentionally.

You don't need to keep an eye on anything. You just don't use the card for government billing or financial services.

And what happens if you do? Do they automatically just give you a 0% cashback?

Not really, it boils down to government and financial.

That list arguably looks a lot more than just government and financial - there are stores in there that I wouldn't have considered. For example:

Merchants classified with this MCC sell computer software programs for business and personal use and may also sell or lease computer hardware or other related products

Merchants classified with this MCC sell gifts and novelty items, greeting cards, balloons, souvenirs, holiday decorations, stationery, wrapping paper and bows, photo albums, and a limited selection of office supplies.

Merchants classified with this MCC sell personal or business insurance policies such as automobile, life, health, hospital, medical, and dental insurance, homeowners’ and renters’ insurance, real estate title insurance, pet health insurance and flood, fire, or earthquake insurance.

I'm not pissing on the deal or the card, I just genuinely want to work out what I can do and what I need to avoid doing. If I need to look up the MCC of every store I am buying from, it will be a PITA. If I can purchase from them and just receive 0% cashback, then that's not any different to my current spending habits.

            • +1

@aragornelessar: You can use the card anywhere, you'll just get 0 cashback if it's an excluded category.
I say again, this is basically just government and financial payments - everything else generates cashback just fine. It's not something you need to watch.

Insurance I already covered as financial services.

Gifts and novelty I think is something overseas - you can use your card in an Australian gift and novelty shop and get cashback just fine.

Computer Software is what it says - if you subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud for example then it will be excluded from cashback. This isn't going to affect most people.

Big thanks to OP. Had seen this months/years Aho but never paid any interest. But pulled the trigger on Monday and now my stake is up 60%!

    • It's been a great week. My $500 stake is now nearly triple since Aug

      • How do you think I feel right now.
I bought in when they were worth 20c back in March,
        Boo yah¡

Thus helped me get to the next tier. jade Green.
And I’ll be earning around %11APY on my growing investment.

  • are you all going for $500 stake with no interest or $5000 stake with 10% interest and Netflix

    • This might help with your decision process.
It is a bit old and from eu but still a good start for you:

$5k here. Was a no brainer for me with LoungeKey and 10%

      • was lounge key one per year?

      • So isn't 10% for Ruby tier as well?
Couldn't care about netflix, paying ~A$8 for Ultra HD (via Turkey)

  • I can't seem to see 10% interest on your stake for a card anywhere?

    https://crypto.com/cards

    • Obsidian is the highest with 8% CRO rewards (if you have a lazy $500k to stake, assume that's what you mean?

Just had a look, people here are taking about 10% interest APD for staking $4000 for the Jade.. hmm

      • I found this, but strange it's not listed on the cards page or anywhere else

        https://help.crypto.com/en/articles/1961286-how-do-i-stake-c…

        • Hmm so is it 10 or 12%?
Sounds like it's only for after you've completed the initial 6 months stake? Can't imagine getting the rewards and the interest
Others here will know i guess.

          • +1

@G-rig: 10% for the lower tier, 12% for the higher one.

It appears (looking at crypto.com's Reddit) that you do indeed get 10% for the initial stake from when you stake it.

Don't know why they wouldn't mention it on their cards page - it's a huge benefit

            • @cooni: Yes I'd better get in.. still taxable but nice incentive and profit none the less

          • @G-rig: You get the rewards and the interest, from the day you start staking $5K upwards 👍

If you sign up, join the Telegram chat that I linked earlier - that's where to take your inevitable questions.

            • @Nom: ok thanks for that, was going to just do the 500$ (Ruby card) initially (and don't exactly need the card having 28d and citi)
              cheers,

              • @G-rig: Geez not easy already this.

Firstly got the referral of US$25 ages ago when signed up/ installed the app.
Don't think you can use this towards the $500 stake amount for the ruby card?
Deposited with Pay ID 500$ a few days ago which been sitting there.

Totoal balance over $500 but it's saying insufficient balance to stake, not sure what gives.
(Edit: signup bonus is locked which is fair enough).

Otherwise, I must be a couple of bucks short of the CRO required (1065) if the price has dropped straight away.
Need to get it in before the price fluctuates (down) now.

Just looking for the Pay ID ref again to top up a few bucks (bank should be linked once but don't recall the payID for the comments).
Also, citi wouldn't allow to add the account so have to use pay ID

maybe should tranfer to AUD again once it's above $500, still unsure of the trading fees .

                Thanks

  • All sorted, just wanted to get the $500 in for the card application at least, not easy when I converted to CRO too soon and the price was dropping before even applying FFS.

    • Bit too late. When this post was first posted, the CRO price was AUD $0.29

Now I regret not staking $5000

      • -1

        Get in there Tiger .
No doubt when it reaches $1 its well and truly worth its 25 Bil + Market Cap .

        • $1 is just 3x from the current price of $0.34. CRO doing 3x isn't difficult when BTC hit >$100,000.

      • +2

I’m glad I’m naturally quite a decisive person. So feeling fortunate i staked the $5k on Monday at 28c!

I think a $1 target is actually achievable!

      • @magicmushroom. Same. You thinking of upgrading?

  • Can I use the virtual visa with Apple Pay?

    • Not yet

      • That's pretty annoying. Who launches a virtual visa card which doesn't work on Apple Pay. Even the MYY App $12 James Squire promo cards work on Apple Pay

  • How long did it take to receive the money when you deposited $5k using NPP? Mine already took more than 24 hours but still not arrived yet :(

    • First time transfers can take a couple of days. 1 days delay on the bank side and another day on the Crypto.com side.

  • Just got an email saying they will give me AUD$35 in CRO if I sign up for a metal card.

    • That is true - but better off with the referral offer as you get the same and the referring person also gets something

      • Can I still use the referral to get a metal card even though I am an existing Crypto.com user?

        • Yes I think so, if you're only an existing crypto.com user but haven't applied for one of the virtual cards in the past

  • Hey guys, how do you top up your fiat account with AUD to pay for Spotify/Netflix?

Also what are the benefits of having this Aussie virtual Visa card when compared to not having an Aussie one?

    Thanks!

    • +1

Benefit: you don't need to convert to SGD then back to AUD, losing ~1%.

In the cart tab, there should be an option to topup from card, add your card details and follow the prompt.

      • Ok thanks.

      • Yes or transfer from payid or BPay

  • Is it possible to setup Turkey Netflix and get that reimbursed?

Also are there any international currency conversion fees when using the card overseas?

    • +1

I already had Turkey Netflix and looks like the reimbursement is working fine since I switched over payment to my CDC card

For foreign purchases they charge the Visa rate (fairly competitive) and no bank fees (unlike most normal banks who charge 2%-3%). Only cheaper way would be something like Revolut which is slightly better as they have slightly more competitive rates to Visa/MC. However the 3% cash back on purchases with Indigo level more than negates the very minor difference here

  • Hi all, question if I may
    1. If I stake $500 in there to get the Spotify benefit, does that $500 also automatically earn me the 6% interest rate? Or is it 2 separate wallets (1 stake wallet for spotify benefit, 1 stake wallet to earn 6% interest rate), which means I have to fund $500 for spotify + additional $ for the 6% interest?

    1. Are there any fees associated for local purchases now that we have an Australian issued card?
    • No returns on the $500 stake (I started on that one) but you do get 10% on the $5000 stake.

No fees from Crypto.com so if there was a fee it would be from the merchant.

  • Has anyone been able to add thier card to use on apple/google/samsung pay yet?

I have done reading and heard about this curve card as an intermediary, but the info was more for UK and Europe.

Keen to see if any other fellow Aussies have tested any work around yet.

    • I haven’t tried it as they keep telling me it’s coming soon. So my guess is it’ll be sometime next year.

    • Nothing like Apple or Google Pay is supported yet

    • I spoke to support (chat) with crypto.com - it works in the US but not supported in Australia yet (which is a shame with no physical card). they're apparent working on it though.

It will work on Google's end when I checked.

      • How do we pay for things if we're looking to tap? Also, there wasn't any "get card" button like on the US version. Do we just automatically get our metal cards sent to us?

        • You can't yet, it's just for internet purchases.
The first merchant I tried it was on the blocked list.

        • That button was there yesterday then the app froze and after going back in was no longer there.

          • @bogstation: They updated it again, it's there now. After almost a day I confirmed my info and it saying 'pending', it finally says Issued. Probably have to wait till it says shipped and then I might receive it - hoping I get it in time for Christmas.

            • @toolatetotheparty: where is this 'get card' button, is this to request a metal card?
thought i saw a popup once, can't find again. Sounds like they should be issuing before xmas. Originally I thought you had to stake for 6 months before they send it out.

              • +1

@G-rig: The 'get card' button only pops up once you stake and verify your address. I.e. You initially get registered and approved for a virtual card after staking and verification; and once that's done, only then you get the 'get card' option to receive the physical card.

EDIT: Just read your comment again and yes, the Get Card button is the option to receive the metal card physically.

                • +1

@toolatetotheparty: ok will give it another look, i'm verified and have the virtual card.
                  Cheers,
                  Edit: found it thanks,

  • +2

Wow this is pumping.. 25% in the past 24 hours?

    • It's going pretty good, hopefully stays up. May not be relevant unless you are exiting at the top. Price could be anything after six months and people are remaining staked to get their cards, and will probably remain staked for the said benefits.

Apparently you can't unstake the profits and leave the minimum (to take the profits), and restaking say $500 starts the 6 months again.

    • after the pump then comes the dump…

      • +1

Doesn't really matter if staking for 6 months, but the upward trend is good.

Nice if it hits a dollar however 12bil cro market cap = would need to add 4-7 billion dollars to hit that.

        • I'm waiting for the dump to get my staking, damn… missed the 30c timing.

          • @samehada: yeah I should have got in at 26c but finally did at 48c or bit less, was still tracking ok at ~60c
only got the Ruby card. 5k would be ok for the 10% interest if you want that card but still feels a bit like coming in at the top haha.probably other coins to make more than 2x ya money but all the perks seem nice (or better than nothing)>

  • Anyone able to clarify this:

Cardholders who stake CRO for a card based on the new fiat-based rates will receive the exact amount of CRO back when they unstake.

Does this mean you don't get the gains for the increase in price?
Also is it true no 2% cashback rewards until after 6 months of staking?

    • If price after 6month (unstaking) is $10 per coin then that's what you will get…

      • yes that's what I'd expect, just not sure about the fiat based thing.
i you put one gold bar in it's still a gold bar irrespective of the value.

        what about this;

In the event cardholders choose to unstake, they will still enjoy the existing cashback of up to 2%.

Can I assume once staked the 2% rewards is effective immediately using the virtual card, or after 6 months?

        Thanks,

Edit: Just tried a purchase, not going through??

        • Yeas as soon as virtual cards are issued, you should get 2 percentage back….Gold is not crypto :d

          • @pyramid: Well the purchase didn't even work so will have to get on the chat

Ok, substitute gold for units, or bananas die the analogy lol

            • @G-rig: Hahahhaha…yeah their chat is pretty helpful..I used them few times
              ..

              • @pyramid: Hmm 'it seems that this merchant falls in one of our restricted merchant lists'.
cycling / clothing should have been ok I would have thought.
probably a fee or delay to transfer the cash back lol

  • Has anyone managed to upgrade their existing card to a new card with AUD as the base currency? Just wondering how I can do this. Their customer service is really poor.

    • +1

Existing card holders have not been migrated yet, you just need to wait until the process begins.

  • anyone knows when physical cards will be sent out?

    • +1

Nobody does - they've suggested in their telegram support group that they're aiming for this month but not set in stone

    • Started shipping to the new AU card holders

  • I can't seem to add the card to my apple wallet. Is anyone else able to do it yet?

    • Not available in Australia yet

  • Insane - CRO hit 80c last night - glad I staked my $5k at 27c thanks to this post!

    • The power of marketing! Can see CRO hitting $20B MC by Jan/Feb year with the Staples Centre rebrand, haven't seen this level of advertising since those worldwide bitcoin billboards. Very important for mass adoption.

    • +1

People trading in other markets wait for 2Y or 3Y for 2x.

The people in this market call a 2x just another Thursday.

  • If you sign up for the card do you get the $35 in CRO immediately?

  • CRO 93c , looks like we going to hit $1

    • this is madness, what has happened?!?

    • +1

My few hundred i bought at all time low is now over 3k

    • it hit $1.30, now back to $1.25..

  • +2

Well there you have it. Over $1! My $5k stake is worth nearly $18k now!

    Thanks OP!
