Can you claim Far Cry 6?

    • Samsung 980 isn't part of the Samsumg Redemption Promo

    • Looks like only 980 Pro is part of that promo, not this one.

      • You can still add the code to their 980Pro listings, PLNS15 takes the 2TB down to $492.15.

StaticIce vendor prices start at around $529, and you will likely need to add postage to that.

What are the SSD requirements for PS5 upgrade?

      • +2

        Needs to be Gen 4.

This is Gen 3, so it wouldn't work.

        • Thanks. Just looked and it seems only the 980 pro would be suitable

      • +4

Need to actually be able to find a PS5 in stock

      • And I am assuming you need an SSD with heat sink?

      https://www.centrecom.com.au/samsung-980-pro-1tb-3-bit-mlc-v…

Cheaper, has a heatsink & eligible for Farcry redemption

$279, would not say it's cheaper.

        • +1

Sorry, that was in relation to the Redemption Promo on the Samsung website where 1tb 980 pro is $329, in which case it is cheaper

980 Pro 1TB can be had for $223 from Futu…

Just keep in mind Futu temporarily (before they jacked it) had the 970 Evo Plus 1TB (better drive than this 980) for ~$149 earlier, and also came with Far Cry 6.

    • what are your thoughts on 970 Evo Plus 1TB vs 980 Pro 1TB ?

      • Fine for normal use. Can't tell the difference. I have the 970 Evo Plus 2TB and 980 Pro 2TB.

      • Personally, I'd be getting the latter (or the 2TB version, ideally) if I had a Gen 4 motherboard or planning to get one soon. Probably wouldn't notice much difference in speeds, if at all, at least at this stage, but I'd be buying a drive for the long term.

But I might be sticking with my i7 8700 for another year or so, so I've again been considering to pick up one of these cheaper Gen 3 drives to tide me over. Still just getting by with a 500GB SATA 860 EVO lol… but I also have multi-TB HDDs though, so it's manageable.

Just made a post on this a couple minutes ago, price reduced back to $179 before codes.
