AMD Ryzen 5 5600G $344.25 Delivered ($336.15 with eBay Plus) @ gg.tech eBay

520
PLMS17PLMS15

Best price I've seen so far for the 5600G. If you're not looking for an iGPU I recommend waiting until Black Friday to get the 5600X, it should be at a similar price and a fair bit faster.

  • man wtf 5600x is now 500?

    • non-eBay retailers are still selling for the normal $429-$439 so I'd assume they just don't want to offer a discount on it yet.

      • +3

Yeah the sellers are definitely aware of the incoming promos and adjust their prices.

The 5600G was $359 for a while but went up a few days before this code, I think there's a lot of stock so they're intent to clear some.

        Great price btw.

      • I asked the sellers for the $429 price and they are like we dont want to offer any discounts at the moment

    • It's the usual price hikes during eBay sales.

  • Anyone got any thoughts on the graphics capabilities of these CPU's as an interim for low-key gaming until GPU pricing comes back down from the stratosphere?

      • I wonder how I would compare its efficiency to a GTX 1650… I am currently using my laptop as a gaming machine as I pulled apart my gaming PC to make a home server and flogged off my RX480 and then boom, cryptocurrency, chip shortages and skyrocketing GPU prices..

This may be a good interim measure…

The IGP is worse than the mobile 1650. Why bother?

    • Should be fine for Retro titles, some have been ported to mobile.

      No go for modern AAA.

      • Im currently working my way though assassin's creed franchise and currently in Black Flag.. I can sense I might need something a little more powerful for the sequels of this game.

But yes, I dont anticipate running Cyberpunk 2077 on this thing.

1050 with shit ram, 1050ti with tuned rev e or b die or smn.
half l3 cache of 5600x so dog performance in valorant or cache heavy games

      high IF tho

Basically go with Geforce Now Streaming until the GPU's get more sensible. It's actually really great.

    • you can have a ton of fun with a low end gpu tbh, many of the classic titles are top tier and worth playing, they are cheap too.

these are also more than sufficient for most competitive titles like csgo dota etc @ 144hz 1080p low settings

the only reason to get a mid-high end GPU is for the latest titles, but unfortunately it seems 90% of them are garbage

      • Well I only buy games on steam sales that are under $10 which implies that they are at least 5-7 years old, this thing should be able to handle that.

what is the difference between difference 5600 cpu (e.g. X, U, G and any others?

    • +9

5600X is a pure bred desktop variant with 6 CPU cores and 12 threads; because it doesnt have an iGPU it clocks higher up to 4.7Ghz
5600U is a laptop CPU (completely different design than the X Variant. Whilst it also has 6 CPU cores it only clocks to 4.2Ghz. Having said that, it does so sipping power (max 25 watt) and also comes with 7 GPU cores that lets you run entry level games.
5600G is a higher clocked (and more power hungry) version of the -U for use in desktops.

5600G is a good choice if you dont want to spend money on a discrete graphics card and are ok with 1080p gaming with reduced quality settings. If you want more horsepower, the 5600x is the way to go (but also requires currently ridiculously expensive discreet graphics card).

      • +2

Also worth noting that the 5600x is 10-20% faster than the 5600g

        • +3

Also 5600G is limited to pcie3 whereas 5600x is pcie4. Probably worth considering if you're planning on holding onto the CPU for a while and buying a high spec GPU later

What s the power consumption on idle?

        • +1

Hard to say for the CPU on its own, but guru3d tested total system idle for the 5600x at 67w and for the 5600g at 61w. of course this depends on what other components you use, but suffice to say they are both quite efficient when idle (and also not too bad when under load, with the g obviously being more efficient but less performant)

      • 5600x is the way to go (but also requires currently ridiculously expensive discreet graphics card).

What is the graphics card you're referring to?

  • Anyone have a firm idea how low we'll see the 5600x-5900x on black friday/cyber monday ? Trying to convince a friend not to jump on this deal right now haha.

    • order it and return it with ebay plus if theres a better deal

  • TSMC, World's biggest silicon wafer (for chips etc) has clearly indicated a 10-20% price increase for its wafers. This isn't till 2022 but some dealers are already grabbing the extra cash despite no increase in the supply chain cost yet.

I'm running an older Ryzen G cpu on an Asus Prime b450m-a motherboard with 3 monitors off the motherboard — it works great! Not many iGPUs can do 3 screens out of the box. I rarely game, so don't care for killer bleeding edge gaming GPUs. Great value for money if you need something with up to 3 monitors with the right motherboard. I switched to Linux Mint with an m.2 NVMe drive for 99% of my work and dual boot to Windows periodically… Life is just blazing fast now.

  • Looks like all the sellers have increased their prices (to $405/+$6, lame), Futu did it first to $409, boo!

With Intel 12th gen just released I hope prices will continue to drop, though I have a feeling the G series will be less effected since they're already cheaper and still have a stronger iGPU.

Any cheap itx boards for this ?

    • I also would like to express my fondness for that particular type of board

  • ANy good for an UNRAID Nas build?
