The trick now is to rip Blurays. DVDs are easy using MPV/ffmpeg.

    • Yes

    • Just ripped my old Channel 9 Bert Newton DVD last night.

      May he rest in peace.

Thanks OP… needed this. I have copies of Porco Rosso (original English dub) and Castle of Cagliostro which I still need to rip to play on the trusty nvidia shield.

  • Thanks OP. I need to rip my DVDs to store them electronically.

    What about using "HandBrake"?
    It's powerful, free and open-source.

Is it able to bypass copy protection? I remember in my highschool days we only used handbrake to convert the ripped dvd to a particular video format.
Used dvd decrypter among other things to do the rip itself.
This software would be equivalent I believe.

          all good mate :)

this post got me nostalgic for my highschool days.

the combo of dvd decrypter and dvd shrink was mint back in the day, with handbrake or ffmpeg to convert to mp4 or avi for our shitty generic ebay mp4 players.

  • Now just need a DVD drive

    • I just had to drag my old trusty USB DVD drive out of the cupboard
