  • Pretty disappointed to have paid $599 a month ago for the same thing from the same seller…

    • +7

Price reductions are to be expected. As is disappointment through watching OZB posts. It happens to everyone.

  • This or an S5 or S6 model?

  • This or roborock S7?

    • +1

S7 if you can afford it and/or the dock, otherwise this is a bargain. I've been researching for months, can't justify more than double the price for the S7 & dock.

    • Diff price points. I've also been waiting for months, auto empty is important to me and at this price, it can't be beaten

  • Free postage code doesn't work for Towsville Queensland!!

  • Cheap or expensive ones will have tangle issues with the brush vs hairs so why can’t they just have super strong suction with brushless rubbers ?

  • Cons prices … Cheap or expensive ones will have tangle issues with the brush vs hairs so why can’t they just have super strong suction with brushless rubbers ?

I got this when it was on sale earlier this month, and the mopping function doesn't work. I sent an enquiry online and now waiting to hear back.

    • Same here. Mopping function not working, just sent an enquiry too.

  • +13

I thought I would just give some feedback on this unit.

We bought it a month ago, and it is our first robot vacuum.

First up, suction. This has 2700 Pascals of suction when run on maximum. We run it at maximum all the time. I wouldn't even consider buying a robot vacuum with less suction than this. It does suck up most dirt/dust. Every now and then it seems to bust up an old rug and leaves old rug scattered on the floor.

Mapping - we have old vertical blinds with those annoying plastic beaded strings joining them together. The vac gets stuck in those and any power cords or anything else you leave loose on the floor. You can make virtual walls in the map to block these areas, but frustratingly I think the maximum number of virtual walls is about 8 per map. That really isn't enough for our needs. The virtual walls do work well in the mapping.

Auto dumping - we absolutely love it! We wouldn't even consider buying a robot vac without it now.

Getting stuck/stopping - every now and then our vac falls off the top stair, or it gets stuck on very thick carpet or it sucks up a kids toy like an Ooshi and stops. Not sure why it falls off the stair. This happens at least 1 in every 3 days. You need to be disciplined about keeping your floor clear of stuff like small toys or it will constantly get jammed or stuck. We find it gets stuck more now than it did when we first got it - maybe just coincidence, maybe not.

Maintenance - it is pretty easy to remove the dust bin from the vac, and also to open up the roller in the vac. You will need to do this from time to time as inevitably things will get stuck in there. We are pretty pleased with how easy it is to access these things. Apparently the unit tells you when the dust bag is full. We havent been able to fill it vacuuming once per night for about a month. The dust bags should be thrown away, so this adds to the cost - but we like how non-messy it is not having to manually empty the unit all the time.

Overall do we like it - Yes!
Do we recommend it - Yes!

For the price, you'll do well to find another competing robovac with autodumping which is anywhere near as good. We are actually considering buying a 2nd one at this new reduced price to run upstairs, so that gives you an idea how much we like it. We don't use the mop function at all, just the vacuum.

Improvements we would like to see are:
    - ability to add more virtual walls in the map
    - stronger suction

Thanks for the review. Makes me feel better about the impulse buy!

    • I am very surprised it falling off steps, mine has been running for months, I have several ledges withs steps and it's never gone off either.

As last time Ill wait for the upvotes pass at least a hundred to see if is a real deal then I may go for it but no barin for 200 upvotes

  • Which Robot vacuum cleaner do you guys recommend with strong suction (+2700pa), Auto dumping, good flexibility with mapping, ability to pick hairs and not get clogged and great mopping. Price $1000-$1500 is fine.

    • +2

Good luck in your search for a vacuum that doesn't get clogged.

      • I was hoping technology has advanced enough.

    • +3

Look at vacuum wars YouTube channel. He just summarised his 2021 robot vacuum reviews. Lots of good information there for someone with your price range.

  • Can't resist a good deal!

  • Does anyone have experience with the mopping function on laminated floorboards? Or recommend a different brand/model for mopping laminated floorboards?

    • +1

Laminate doesn't cope well with water. I wouldn't use a robot mopping vac tbh.

  • +1

Ordered through the same deal earlier this month. Live in metropolitan Melbourne, still haven't receieved it?

    Can anyone help?

If it's any consolation it took 3 weeks to get delivered within 10 kilometers of where it was shipped - not PANMI's fault - auspost is smashed right now.

    • have you got yours yet? my mate in melb hasn't got his but mine (syd) came within a week an a half .
also used that deal from early october

  • +1

Bought in the last deal. Have not been able to get a successful map of the whole house, for some reason it seems to cut off rooms from the map, it's as though the map can scroll any further in a certain direction. Have tried moving the base station to different locations but always seem to run into this problem. The house it at the limit of the specced cleaning area shown above (did not know that when we bought it) but we never had an issue with the original Roborock mapping the entire house.

The reason this mapping issue is so frustrating is that I need the map to complete so I can designate rooms that have carpet and areas that have rugs, so far we have been unable to use the mopping function for this reason.

No response from support using the feedback function on the app.

I think this unit has great promise for the price, just hope they can sort out the mapping issues through a firmware update.

    • +1

Hey. Do you mean it's greyed out pieces of the map still? Or you can't zoom out of the map and scroll left and right? Probably best to clear the map and let it redo it. Be sure not to move the base station, always buggers my maps in every vac I've had.

    • +1

I had no issues with it mapping my house. It's been running daily for months.

Is it a big house, could it be a range issue? Try the base station in the middle of the house maybe?

    • +1

I got my s9 UV from the last deal as well.

I had a lot of issues trying to get the map to auto-detect rooms.

Run a clean with "perimeter mode" switched on for a couple of times.

Then let it do a complete clean with the doors to tricky rooms shut.

By tricky I mean areas where the walls didn't get developed properly, or the vacuum got stuck on obstacles mid-way thru the clean.

If there are any areas the vac can't navigate, use the manual remote control mode to steer it, then click "charge back" to send it home, whereby the scanners will fix any inconsistencies.

      • +1

I got mine today. Navigation is shit compared to Roborock and Xiaomi. Very disappointed 😞

I did point cleans to get it to scan but still doesn't clean the whole floor. Does a tiny area then docks

        • You have got to be persistent. I had some issues, even after the rooms successfully mapped.

I would select "clean laundry room" it would drive 2 meters then say "Could not reach desired location, returning to dock".

This is where I had to use remote control mode to drive it to the laundry. Then let it return home, remapping the problematic area as it goes.

I am now very happy with the device. Quiet, pretty efficient cleaning algorithm, follows the appointments precisely.

Keep letting it FULL clean and run more perimeter scans if you are still having issues. Feel free to post a pic of your map for comments.

        • I second that! The vac and emptying bin itself are great, but the mapping software is a dumpster fire. Roborock camera navigation was handy also, but not a must have for me.

I also hate the fact that you can't set the vac to run over a room more than twice. Sometimes, you need to go over a room a few times, but this Mi Home "repeat cleaning" option is BS. At least Roborock allows you to select 3 cycles of a selected area, and it was all available to choose on the same screen as the map. Mi Home forces you to go to another screen, turn on repeat cleaning, go back to the map and then choose the area to clean.

Such a great piece of hardware that's brought down a number of pegs due to shitty software.

    • Just a few responses to the questions.
I've tried mapping the house at least a dozen times so far. I've been able to get it to map and create the rooms, but it has completely missed 2 rooms that were at the end of the hallway, it's as though it simply can't create anything further.
Many times it didn't create the rooms though, just grey. Zooming out and scrolling just shows the edge of the map and you can't scroll any further

I've also tried moving the base station to various locations. It started life in the center of the house but had cut off the corner of a room. Other movements had different results but all ended up with rooms getting cut off.

Interesting thing was that a border clean mapped the whole house, all rooms shown correctly. Stayed grey though.
When I did a full clean to fill in the map it still cut off rooms from the map.

I'll try using a virtual border to see if I can have the unit just do half of the house at a time.

      • +1

Feel free to post a pic of your map if you are still having issues.

P.S. I had found it's very important to leave the base station in exactly the same position, when trying to map.

If you have moved the base station at some point, clear the map, and start mapping again from scratch. It's annoying but the first few scans are most important.

Is it possible it ran out of battery before it could scan the whole house?

        • Yep. Each time I tried a different location for the base station I reset the map to start again from scratch.
Just trying another location now. Have done a full perimeter scan which has captured the whole house (as it has successfully done before), map is not square, is rotated slightly but I can deal with that)

Now doing a full map to see how it goes and whether it cuts off areas again. If so, I'll try the virtual walls to see if I can get it to spend more time in the problem areas.

If no luck I'll post a picture to highlight the issue. The house is not a typical rectangle which I'm sure isn't helping matters. :-)

          • @Bigmaxy: Hmmm.. If the house map is rotated, i would clear it and start again. You need the early scans to be issue-free, to move onto refinement later.

P.S. Make sure the dock has a good amount of space side-to-side and infront, as recommended by the instructions.

My house isn't that nice to map either, lot of weird furniture etc. The vac was trying to scan outside the sliding glass door - i am not sure if this was actually causing issues but covering the glass seemed to help…

  • Use couriers please or Australia post or toll?

    • +1

Toll is probably the fastest these days but with free coupon code, unsure if they will actually use toll since it's the most expensive.

      • +1

I've just ordered and all 3 delivery options were free - AusPost, Toll and Couriers Please.

I went with Toll. AusPost presently takes 2 weeks (interstate) from receiving a tracking number to seeing the item even start to move through their system. Deliveries from China that don't involve AusPost for the 'last mile' arrive inside 2 weeks.

        • I chose Couriers Please and it got sent via AusPost

          • +1

@0 0 0: Sadly, it seems we had no choice.

Just got my shipment notice - sent using AusPost after all :(

            • @Wing Nut: You're lucky - I just got Couriers Please :(

The last parcel from something I had ordered that used Couriers Please got delivered today. It was shipped on the 19/9 and last week the seller shipped a replacement via aus post express as it was presumed lost.

Hopefully they do better this time.

              • @The Hobo: I scored a free baby change table because CP were so late ebay determined it was lost and issued a full refund. So not all is bad

              • @The Hobo: Not so lucky - took AusPost nearly 10 days to even pick it up from Panmi, then 4 more to travel between adjacent states.

With a bit of luck, however, I might get it today or tomorrow, since yesterday it finally in the local distribution centre. That's assuming AusPost don't drop it off at another house in a different suburb/postcode, but the same street name, as they've occasionally managed to do in the past :(

                • @Wing Nut: That sucks. I got mine in 3 days from ordering

        • +2

I went with Toll and got send from Auspost.

          • @sanglt: Same here. I reckon we don't have choice after using the freeshipping code.

      • Selected Toll, got AusPost.

        • +1

Probably a condition of the free shipping code.

          • @The Hobo: Probably :) Not complaining, just disappointed. AusPost are definitely struggling atm

    • +1

Just used CP. Experience on it was average
Booked pick up and waited well over a week for it. everyday had to rebook as they failed to pick up.
has taken a month to get the item across WA from QLD metro areas.

  • Just ordered after having a gen1 (ol' reliable) falling apart from daily vacuums the last 4 years.

Really wanted to get the S7 for the vibrating mop, but the price is ridiculous.

Thanks OP! Wife will be happy.

  • +2

i just upvoted this for the suprised husky picture. 😁

  • +1

No better bang for buck on the market, crazy price considering the price of just the empty station for most brands.

  • Hi there - I just got this and the mop function doesn't work - doesn't dispense any water at all. Any idea why? I checked the three holes it seems the water is supposed to come out of, and nothing is coming out. Is that a defective machine, or just the 2 in 1 case, or something I'm missing?

    • I tried mopping on my new machine today and same thing happened, no water dispensed…
Did you find a solution to your issue?

      • +1

Seems a lot of people are having this issue.

They told me that the container is in "sleep mode" and that they have to replace the container.

Now they are telling me they are waiting for containers from overseas and then will ship it to me. So it is not acceptable. We're talking a month now since I ordered, and possibly another month for functionality.

  • I have a fixture of carpet and floor rooms. When performing “vacuum and mop” has any one had success running the “vacuum only” on the carpet, and then “vacuum and mop” on the floor?
I have set up no mopping area, but the machine would just skip those rooms without vacuuming during the vacuum and mop mode.

    • +3

I think this might be because the wet mop is attached and will inevitably run it on the carpet so probably a good call, its doing that.

Would be nice, if it could lift it high enough to not touch the surface and then just vacuum those areas. In a few years and few new product cycles, I am sure something like this will come out.

      • The Roborock S7s (Max?) do that.

  • Just placed an order

  • How are people managing multilevel houses? Pick up the robot and dock and relocate as needed? Or multiple docks and just move the robot around? Or leave the dock where it is and move the robot? Or multiple docks and multiple robots? Love the idea of these, but trying to understand how best to utilise them in a multilevel house (3 levels in our case).

    • Pretty much everything you have said is an option. Whatever works best for you.

We are in a 2 level home, and will be putting this one downstairs, as it has the most floor space. Our old Neato Botvac will be moved upstairs permanently. It has less floor space, so the dying Botvac battery will be able to finish upstairs without issue I hope. Up till now, we've just manually vacuumed the other rooms - too much effort picking up and moving the robot around.

Sooo I ordered last night and selected TOLL shipping,

Just got an AusPost tracking :'(

  • Anyone can help posting the link to a reliable seller on Aliexpress to buy the correct size dust bags that don't require cutting the old original bag cardboard?

    • Surely can't be hard to empty the existing bag? I might just use my dyson and vacuum it up lol

    • I recall reading somewhere that someone installed a zipper or something on a bag - so you could unzip and empty and then zip it up and off you go again.

May have been a different unit though.

  • Anyone had any issues scheduling cleaning with this vacuum?

I set two appointments, one for mopping and another for vacuuming, both to start at 10:00 AM daily. It's only been a couple days, but it either appears to not start at all, or it starts at a completely different time.

I'll have to do some more testing to see if it's working at all, otherwise I am wondering if the app is set to a different time zone?

  • +1

Does anyone else have issues with base station vacuum not emptying compartment because "bag is full"? —> When it is pretty much empty?

At first I thought it was that I had set it too big an area and the vacuum was filled with cat fur that possibly blocked it, and maybe the base station vacuum couldn't get it out.

Then … I tested it with a very light load from a small tiled room and suction vac starts and then complains that the bag is full. I've checked the base station pipes and they are all clear?

    • me - i have cleaned it/changed the bag - checked everything as per the manual and just raised it as a support issue.

I think the base station is borked as i have tried everything.

  • +1

i dont see much difference in the specs as compared to the Dreame F9, almost double the price of this deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/658050. whats the benefit of this top of the range unit?

    • +3

      Auto dumping?

      • This keeps coming up as a major advantage. Are they that painful/time consuming to clean that you'd pay much more for a self cleaning device (never owned a robot vacuum)?

        • +1

Haven't used one with auto dumping yet but as you can see it's tiny machine so it need to be dumped for every single run which is probably major hassle when you put it on scheduled daily run.

  • Hi OP, I am a bit confused with this. If this is China stock, then how would you be able to use Google Assistant with this? Would appreciate if you could clarify thanks!

    • Also would like to know as it is not recognising the device

  • Just purchased. Can anyone confirm a reliable source from aliexpress for mop heads and bags that will fit this unit without the need to cut down the cardboard.

  • +1

Selected Toll but got sent with AusPost 💀☠

  • Can anyone explain why the replacement mop heads don't have the elastic band? The elastic band is only on the grey one that comes pre-installed. The rest are blue and have velcro…

Also, does the water tank need to be emptied when switching to vacuum only mode? I would assume not since there's the vacuum + mop mode, but then again I don't want my carpet soaked.

    • My original unit one doens't have elastic - just velcro.

No the water tank can stay full - it's a different compartment

      • Weird. The manual even references the elastic band.

  • +1

Guys! just be mindful, the delivery is quite slow. I placed the order on 25/10 chose Courier Please, I have been sent the Aus Post tracking number only this morning but it's not yet tracked. If you really need it early I would say use the express post option if any.

    • +1

I believe they just print out labels when they don't actually have the stock, so it's effectively a backorder.

      • Yep I think they just print out label but stock is not available yet so not shipped

        Ready for processing
It's either waiting to be picked up from the sender or ready for sorting at our facility.

      • If this is the case, then the deal is misleading as it's clearly written in stock at Sydney on their website. Hopefully, the vacuum does me good as it is my first robotic thing.

    • +1

Yeah, I'm in the exact same situation picked couriers please and received Aus Post tracking information saying waiting for collection.

It's been 4 full working days and it hasn't been shipped. Unacceptable to say in stock when it is not.

      • Update:It's Australia Posts fault all of a sudden today the tracking has updated and it is in Brisbane and has had 4 movements all at once.

They would have had to have sent it early this week to be in Brisbane by now.

  • +2

So took nearly 22 days to reach me from last order.

Then mop doesnt work and i email them and they ignore me for 3 days. Then i have to spam them on fb and email and then they tell me that the mop is in "sleep mode" so they will ship me a replacement container.

2 days later when I'm again asking for tracking they tell me they are waiting for the containers from overseas and will ship it to me once they get them in.

So we're possibly talking 2 months without functionality.

Will never buy from them again.

    • +1

Isn't it under warranty? would have just returned it as it's Dead on Arrival
