Belkin iPad 2 Slim Case (Fits "New" iPad) - Dick Smith Online - $19.97 (Half Price)

140

The Belkin iPad2 Slim case is now selling at Dick Smith online for half price (store pickup available) for $19.97.

Tested on my new iPad and can confirm that it fits the "new iPad" well and the "magnets" work for screen on/off. The rear camera cutout is pretty big hence no issue there.

They also have the Belkin iPad 2 screen protector (which fits the new iPad) 2 pack at half price too, $7.47.

  • Beaten to the posting of the bargain by 2 minutes, we must have been typing at the same time!!

    MOD: Can you please remove.

  • I'm thinking about getting this case-what do you think of it? Is it nice?

    • pretty nice case, i had a look this case and Cygnett iPad 2 from website,i will go for this one.
ordered dse online (case + screen protector), ready to pick up :)

    • Got one last time when DSE have half price sale. Definitely not impressed with the fitting for such a "premium brand" given the original price. Doesn't matter how hard to push the case in, it doesn't "centred" properly. Not to mention if you gonna fit the "new ipad", i am almost certain you will have hard time squeeze it in. And while the whole thing does its job well, there is nothing to really worth mention. Perhaps, if you like the "style", then it adds value. But if ou ask me, I wouldn't go for it again.

      • You may have got a dud one, I got one this morning for my new iPad and it fitted in fine and well centred.

      • +1

I agree with bagachin - I bought one from Big W for $30 and returned it the next day. I wasn't impressed with the quality - the iPad just doesn't sit right, the front cover doesn't sit square on and it looks and feels on the cheap side.

I ended up getting the Cygnett one from Target.

  • I think I won't use any case so it will always look center ;P

  • I got one but it doesn't wake. Maybe I bought the wrong one? Mine says Belkin slim folio stand. Is that what you got? It cost $19.97 and was half price.

The top cover doesn't close magnetically. Instead there is a black elastic band that closes it. The cover is pretty neat but I really wanted the magnetic wake. There is no setting for it under settings general, which I guess means that the iPad doesn't see it as a valid case.

    Any ideas?

  • I bought the blue one for my iPad 3, it's ok, not great, magnetic wake works some of the time. It's no where near as good as the apple one I bought with my iPad 1 which is a similar style of case.

  • Getting both for my ipad3

Which is better for the protective

The clear? Or the anti glare?

  • The clear for sure, the anti glare will make the screen unbearably grainy.

    • Yea end up getting the clear. It's perfect. Looks the same.

The belkin case is ok. But expected more. Thought it was a book folder like the leather ones. But it's just a flimsy case folder. The auto shut off works when close.

All good for 20$ I guess.

  • I got the clear screen and I don't think it's good. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but there's lot of air bubbles trapped under the cover. Also it's kind of sticky at the top. I've only used it for less than a day and it's already looking very dirty on the screen.

    • You need to clean the surface very well before applying the screen protector - otherwise you will get lots of small bubbles. I used a cheap screen protector (for a different device) and delibrately applied that on the iPad first (using it to lift the tiny little bits of dust). Then, I apply the actual screen protector.

Once the actual clear screen protector is applied, it will attract fingerprint marks easily (because the coating - or lack of coating to be exact) on the screen protector is obviously inferior than the actual coating on the screen put on by Apple/Foxconn. The main objective of the screen protector is to protect the screen. The iPad does look better without one.

    • Yea once you take one side off and place it on the iPad you will get a lot of bubbles. you then have to get a card and smooth it over all the air bubbles. Keep smoothing it over until you release all the bubbles to the side. Then take off side 2 and it will be perfect.
