Good for all the rimmers out there

    • Another Red Dwarf reference…

If you have waited this long for it, you might as well wait for the Steam Halloween sale in the next 2 weeks

    • +4

No point waiting for a Steam sale because the developer won't put it on sale. All past Rimworld sales have been the store putting up the discount.

    • +2

The most discount Steam has given the past year is only 10% ($44.95), so there's no point waiting for a Steam Sale.

After putting a ton of hours into the base game, then trying mods, just wondering is any of the DLC worth a buy?

    • +3

It's good content, but I don't think either DLC is a must buy. Not massively better than the base game or existing popular overhaul mods.

Royalty is gameplay focused and gives you new, specific ways to build a colony. If you don't want to build a literal empire, there's not much to do. I reckon the rest of the content (new weapons, quests, abilities) has been done as good in mods. I mostly play without this enabled.

Ideology is more general. It does have new gameplay systems but it's more about adding depth to the storytelling and colonist interactions. I usually play with Ideology but like any overhaul, it's love or hate if you're overtly familiar with the original.

    • Both DLCs makes the social stat more useful

This game seems expensive but is well worth the cost , you can easily sink 100s of hours into it and it has an extremely active modding community. I find the DLCs are worth it but might be best to do your first few runs without them as they do make the game more complex.

OP I can confirm the 5% off next order coupons are excluded from Star Deals. But the 5% student discount from StudentBeans does work and brings it down to $37.95.

    • Beauty, thanks so much. I'll edit the post!

      • Think you misunderstood, they're excluded (don't work) on Star Deals unless you use the student one.

        • Yes. Yes I did, and edited it again haha

  • if it goes 5 cents cheaper i might pull the trigger

    • +1

I'll give you the 5 cents, I think more people should enjoy this game

  • Cool
