SO WHAT IS THE DF64?

The DF64 single dose grinder is often referred to as the Niche Killer because of it's build quality, quality of grind and it's spectacular price point. It is a robust grinder capable of grinding fine enough for Turkish and espresso coffee as well as course enough for filter and even cold brew.

The DF64 is truly an amazing stepless single dose grinder with very low to nil coffee retention thanks to the silicone bellows that helps expel all ground coffee. It is equipped with pre-seasoned commercial grade 64mm Italian made Italmill Titanium coated burrs which not only provide a more durable burr set (compared to steel burrs), but also produce fluffy, clump free ground coffee. It is also compatible with SSP burrs for those that want to take their coffee grinding to the next level.

The DF64 has a powerful 250w/1400rpm motor to make your coffee grinding effortless regardless of your coffee bean's density. It is the perfect grinder for the coffee enthusiast's home however it would also not be out of place on the bar of a café for their decaf or single origin coffee offerings.

    • This grinder (DF64) has been rebranded under many different brands around the world (G-iota, ProBarista, Turin, Coffee Tech, etc). The same manufacturer produces all of these "different" models out of a factory in China, but customises them for each wholesale buyer (whether just branding, colours and burrset options, or further modifications/specs).

My guess is that Frankie's Beans has sole distribution over the Coffee Tech (out of New Zealand?) branded DF64 (along with whatever customisations selected by Coffee Tech - hence the single burrset option).

You will notice that Dipacci does not mention Coffee Tech in their listing - my guess is they are sourcing their own unbranded units direct from the manufacturer / China.

So Frankie's Beans very well may be the sole distributor of the Coffee Tech branded version of this grinder. With that you get local warranty by them, presumably backed by agreements with Coffee Tech (which could be part of the reason why it ends up being cheaper than the Dipacci, who probably have to cover their own in-house warranty repairs. But moreover, probably just the buying power / volumes of Coffee Tech vs Dipacci.)

      • +1

For the sake of transparency, we tried to source the DF64 grinder directly from the factory for distribution in Australia, however we were advised by the factory that Coffee Tech have the main rights for Australia and New Zealand and if we wanted the Australian rights we would need to liaise with Coffee Tech. After a number of discussions an agreement was reached that for the sake of consistency the grinder would be branded as Coffee Tech in both markets. We are working on a number of projects with Coffee Tech that we are looking at bringing to the Australian market as well providing input for any enhancements to existing product lines.

Any third party that is selling the DF64 in Australia that hasn't sourced their stock from either Coffee Tech or Frankie's Beans, is unlikely sourcing it from the manufacturer and most likely sourcing them from a distributor in another region who is breaching their distributor agreement. It is also very unlikely that it has been certified for the Australian market.

  • There is calibration/alignment issue with bur on stock unit.
Does your unit come calibrated to 0 and aligned?
Does your warranty allow modding and user upgrades?
I am considering buy overseas if I will void the warranty after modding and stock unit need a lot of upgrades.

    • In regards to modding we can not provide a blanket policy of allowing mods without it impacting warranty. It would really come down to what mod specifically you are looking to do. By letting us know beforehand we can provide you with an answer in regards to it's potential impact on your warranty.

We will be offering a burr upgrade just before we ship the units out (exact details have not been finalised yet) and if you take the upgrade option yes we will be aligning and calibrating the upgraded burrs. However we can not do this to all grinders with the titanium burrs due to the amount of time involved to do so. We may however offer it as an option with a small charge to cover the labour to do so.

That being said the "issue" of burr alignment is not as prevalent as you may think. If it was something that was a significant concern for you it is not that hard to do and would need to be done whether you bought the grinder from overseas or from us with local return and warranty.

  • whats the pre order promo end/cutoff date?

    • Cutoff will be once we receive final Australian certification or until all of our first shipment stock is sold, whichever comes first.
