  • These or 700's?

    • +3

Went from the 35s to the 700s and was extremely disappointed with the 700s.

      • I agree. I went to Myer and compared the 700's to the 35's and wonder how that is a upgrade on sound quality…

    • +1

Neither… where's the Bluetooth 5.2, LE Audio, and LC3Plus low latency support at?

Not even an update hinted at.

      • LE Audio is still in development (https://www.bluetooth.com/learn-about-bluetooth/recent-enhan…). I'm like you though. Won't be buying any headset (or hearing aids in my case) until LE Audio is released.

        • There's been a few articles recently mentioning the standard being ratified, so I suspect they're just waiting for some major manufacturers to be ready to release products before throwing out a media release.

I'd be disappointed if any flagship device set for release in the last 12-18 months has sidestepped having a firmware update at the ready, at the very least for LC3 codec support.

Samsung Buds2 will be a flop without one.

    • 700s are worse than the QC35s

    • Not even a like for like comparison.
      Of course this is better.

FYI anyone who’s looking for them, they’re in stock ready to ship at Bose directly.

Got mine for $449 direct from Bose (and next day courier shipping too!) using the Student Beans code. Been using them over the weekend and they’re a solid upgrade from my ageing original QC35s.

They’re sound more restrained than XM4s and not as good as APM. Best ANC and comfort out of both.

Bose has 90 day return policy, I’d try and source a code to buy off them directly. My plan is to return and buy another pair if/when they drop in price ($450 still pretty steep!) or just claim price protection on 28 deg sometime this year.

    • +7

To think someone would be bored enough to go through the hassle of a return rather than just claim price protection..

      • Bored enough? Man what an entitled and narrow worldview you have. Maybe they don’t have a credit card with price protection or don’t understand how it works?

        • What a hazy view you have, have you tried glasses? Try following this thread and what my response was to, I'll try make it easier for you:

Pretty sure you’re not supposed to “return” the product you bought elsewhere for cheaper. You might have trouble returning or claiming warranty if the product serial number doesn’t match up too

    • +1

      Thanks for the info!
Could you please share that code for the discount?

    • I'm still on my original QC35s too! I'm looking to replace them soon and was considering the XM4s but negatives seem to include comfort and heat. I never really prioritized comfort until I experienced the 35s, which you can just about forget you're wearing sometimes. Might wait till these drop them jump on them

    • +2

surely there will be a sale within a year. that's the point of price protection, you can buy on release and get it cheaper later ;)

  • +9

Not sure how good is this. But when you can buy xm4 at a much cheaper price. I know what to do.

    • +6

Agree. These need to drop $100 to compete with XM4.

Owned and used QC35II and XM4. Sold off QC35II as my XM4 were in the post to me. Regret it. Personally the Bose experience was far superior. Written about it in detail before but basically it's everything from sound quality to me, comfort, mic quality, plenty of other stuff. The way I war sweat immediately in the Sony is what I dislike the most, even in the mildest of weather. Sorry we broke up Bose, I'm coming back baby.

      • +2

Interesting observation. I've got the Sony XM4 and the Bose NC700 (which from what I understand is a significant improvement over the QC35/II) - both are very similar in performance. Battery life is slightly better in terms of the Sony and the microphones for call quality is slightly better in the Bose NC700. Comfort wise - both are fine for 1-1.5 hours for me but if I have back to back meetings, the clamping force of the Sony's gives me a headache. No such issues with the Bose.

        • +4

I found the Bose 700 inferior to the QC35, not necessarily a good comparison

        • The Bose QC35ii has better tuning and comfort to both the XM4 and 700s.

700s only win in call quality (which is obviously important for work usage). XM4 wins by a decent margin at ANC.

It is worth noting that you can clean the XM4 sound quality up quite a bit by using the app’s EQ (which saves to the headphone itself). However they will always sound a bit muddy compared to the QC35ii.

The XM4 are very muddy on the low-end… Lack mid-range, too… I returned them… Though noise cancellation was better.

    • I bought an XM4 to replace my OG QC35 and have returned the XM4 and am now back on my Bose.

The sound on the XM4 was good and they were pretty comfortable, but the mic quality was totally unusable. No one could hear me if there was any background noise at all.

I was surprised this wasn't mentioned in the reviews, but if you are using your headset for phone calls or meetings I would (and have) stick with Bose.

  • I advise people wait until the price drops further, as it's most likely competing with the Sony WH-1000XM4:

    Still happy with my QC35ii…

  • wait till price drops below NC700.

  • Bought these 2 weeks ago and Love them.

  • +1

Grabbed a pair in smoke white and love them. Incredibly comfortable and the NC is incredible, that's pretty much why I picked them over Sony.

If you're after audio quality AAC won't compare to Sony's LDAC but I find these much more comfortable than XM4s so that made up my mind

    • Is such a quality observation relevant if you're listening to m4as that used to be FLACs?

      • Probs not, the bitrate caps of AAC would only be relevant if your listening over that.
And then, if you wanted to listen to lossless files in high fidelity then plug in the cable, problem solved :)

I preferred comfort when looking for wireless headphones, I have other pairs of wired headphones for any critical listening

  • Happy I got my 700's for $330 looking at this "deal"

  • +1

Waiting for Black Friday / Boxing Day deals.

  • These are very slightly heavier than the QC35. Sometimes my neck gets a bit stiff wearing them for a longer time period.

My QC35 has been bullet proof over ownership (probably 4 yrs). I had to replace the ear pads once ($10-15) and that's about it. Battery life is still good but probably not as good as when it was new.

    • +1

Only a few grams heavier, you are unlikely to notice the difference in weight compared to QC35ii. People have indicated the weight listed in Bose website is a mistake, most likely the weight including the carry case.

    • +1

One of the YouTube review (CNET) mention that the QC45 is 3-4 gram heavier, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference

  • +1

I'm still using my QC25 from 2015. However I feel that I need to upgrade even though QC25 is still working well. Not sure whether to go for XM4 or this one.

    • +1

Qc25 are amazing, we sell replacement cushions nearly every day for these as they keep going!

  • Looking forward to seeing some decent FR graphs on these puppies.

Fingers crossed that the bass has been lowered a touch, the mids stay the same and the treble has been smoothed out.

  • Why only SBC codec!! At least AptxHD!

  • How would these (or the QC35/XM4) compare to the Sennheiser Momentums?

  • Still rocking my qc3!
