This Sambal is a must-have for your Nasi Lemak/spicy food kick. Highly recommended by my Malaysian mum which makes it a high standard lol.

Pan fry some onions til it's soft (use a little oil as this packet is oily) and mix it in. Delicious!

Also prawn noodle base available, haven't tried this one, but still cheaper than what you can get it for at the Asian shops

  • Why does your link say google?

    • On mobile so I had to google the product and copy link address from there lol

  • Can confirm, this is a really good sambal.

Throw some anchovies in the oven to crisp it up and add it to the sambal too

    • Where do you get your anchovies? Any specific brand?

No wonder it's good, look at where MSG is on the list!

    • Why is msg bad for you ?

      • +2

hmm you didnt get the msg ?

        • -1

Wtf does your comment even mean?

          • @Charmoffensive: Wordplay.

          • @Charmoffensive: They're asking if you got the MSG which is an acronym for monosodium glutamate and the topic of the discussion up 'til this point. It has a long history of being slandered in the eyes of the public saying it causes minor health problems like headaches and hypertension. This has been proven to be false unless you're sensitive(?) To MSG.

Marantz must've thought that whytd believed it was bad and was asking for justification as to why it is. If whytd did the appropriate research he/she would've found it to be fine which is why Marantz asked.

However, because Marantz asked in an ambiguous way, it opened up the path for the jokester Chi Mot to come in and say "You didn't get the msg?" Where message could be shorthand for "message" but also double as being the topic of discussion.

Evidently you didn't get the message but please try to ask in a friendlier way next time, quit all this effin' and jeffin'

            • @SpainKing: Nah, I got the wordplay, but it only works one way: "you didn't get the message?". "you didn't get the monosodium glutamate?" doesn't make sense as a sentence. So… What the hell does that even mean?

              • @Charmoffensive: The only reason it works is because of how it works two ways.

If it just said "You didn't get the message?" There'd be no joke.

If MSG was called My Salty (profanity) (MSA for short) saying "You didn't get the MSA?" wouldn't make sense as a joke or response to the original question.

If you step outside of the box of appropriate thinking even further, you could say the joke works because we're on a site that points you to different deals that shops provide. If you had sent someone to the store to pick up some MSG and they didn't because they were out of stock (like this deal currently is) when they get home you might ask "Hmm, you didn't get the MSG?" as Chi Mot did. It may not be the strongest joke but few are after such rigorous analysis.

So I would argue it makes sense both ways and regardless trying to get deeper meaning out of an obvious joke (you claim to have understood) from a comment on OzBargain is an exercise in futility

Yeah, you're probably right. I'm just being pedantic.

      • If you're allergic to it it's a problem otherwise not so much.

    • What's wrong with MSG? I use it in cooking and it's healthier than using salt.

      • Nothing's wrong with MSG. It was a joke.

  • Have updated that prawn noodle stock for the same price is still available (for now)

    OOS 11:49

  • Pan fry some onions and chuck the paste in .. then what?
    Just serve on rice ?

    • It's like a side accompaniment to a fish, goes well with Asian curries, noodles, fried rice, nasi Lemak, rotis etc

  • OOS prawn noodle stock (which I actually wanted, sadly)

    • Is it good? I haven't tried it yet, too many external ingredients needed haha

      • Not bad. About right for the price hahaha

  • Tried their laksa. It is very good.

  • Why is there Cashback logo below the picure? There is no cashback for food ordered from Amazon.

    • +2

Pretty sure it's store based not categories

      • Amazon Cash Reward/Shopback % based on categories. Food = 0%

        • I meant the logo turns up based on the stores link. Bit of a stretch for Ozbargain website to weed through the product listing's to see what's eligible especially when the categories rate changes all the time .

  • Pretty good price but is it a bargain?

    • +1

Not often you get to see something sold online cheaper than at the Asian shops. Never seen it cheaper than $2 there
