    Just make your own, it tastes so much better: shoyu, mirin, katsuobushi/dashi powder, kudzu starch. As much as I like MSG (which is in this sauce), you really don't need it with the natural glutamines in the shoyu and katsuobushi.

      • Most supermarkets carry almost all of the ingredients (shoyu, mirin, katsuobushi), and an Asian grocer for the kudzu starch (sometimes called Chinese/Japanese arrowroot) or dashi powder. If you can't get kudzu, normal arrowroot powder, or, as a last resort, cornflour, are suitable substitutes. I buy mine from just down the road as I have a heap of Asian grocers around here, otherwise Tokyo Hometown supermarkets and sometimes Daiso carry this stuff.

        • Is that teriyaki sauce similar to what you get from Sushi Train? Have yet to find one that taste exactly like sushi chain :(

            @Ughhh: I'm not sure, but it's a traditional tare which is used in various ways. Everything from gyudon, onsen tamago, and the like, through to teriyaki, yakitori, and the various grilled dishes, use the same basic combination. All about ratios and if you thicken it or not.
