pity the stream quality is average or id be all over the $50 season pass

  • I've streamed nfl to my 7" galaxy tab before over telstra and optus networks, and that was ok. I wonder if they will have a good app to buffer and allow the user to adjsut badnwidth/quality. Seeing it is unmetered I am guessing NO! Otherwise it is easy to buffer at high quality, which would stress their network.

    Sounds interesting though.

  • I might wait until the beginning of the regular season to take up this offer and give the service a run. Give Telstra time to work out the bugs. A month of regular season should be a good enough test drive.

If it's performs anything like my Foxtel over mobile experience it'll likely be 240P video 80 Kbit audio, which isn't very good. Though possibly interesting as a novelty.

Isn't this free on optus? :)

    • Yes, but not LIVE.
      (minute delay)

    • Only free to air games. This gives you all matches, live.

  • The quality is pretty poor. They definitely need to adjust to at least standard def

    • There's likely a commercial agreement in place that they can only transmit up to a specified resolution, otherwise people won't pay $50/month for foxtel.

  • How do you know quality is poor? Any specs? I have no idea, but if the NFL can give me good quality over telstra then why not Telstra?
I quite like the possibilty of watching footy on my tablet whilst on the train etc.
