I have been using this headphone amp for over a year with no issues (paid $388), looks like an all time low according to 3xcamel. Not sure how long the deal is for.

It's a proper amplifier in lieu of the $2 circuit in whatever you're listening to.
On-board headphone outputs are generally not a priority in device design, even in professional equipment. So this uses the "proper" output to provide a quality headphone out.
I bought a DAB radio but on connecting to external speakers via the headphone jack, I get the message that the volume is limited… Can this be used for amplifying in this scenario?
Wrong product. You'd want something like this. There are a number of options, with different amounts of power.
You basically need something that provides enough power for speakers, not a headphone. The product in this deal is for high quality sound for headphones.
@Make it so: Can it be connected to Logitech Z623?
@RSmith: Should be, as it has 3.5mm input.
@Make it so: Thank you.
This can help connect big boi speakers that use XLR inputs and provide amplifying power. You then connect this to your computer by USB or whatever and it will provide excellent sound. This is more for people who want a more hi-fi experience than the baby speakers typically found in most computer setups.
you cannot use this to power speakers
it is a headphone amp only
Ah my bad, I thought this was a dac/amp, which then makes my previous comment true.
So no usb connection, only analogue. No DAC in this.
Personally I'd get a DAC amp unless you were a properly serious audiophile.
recommend any amp to go with my Shure MV7? Volume is ok, but I have to be so close (even with far mode).
@skinny: A bit out of my wheelhouse unfortunately. I know any amp can work with a mic, but you also get dedicated mic preamps….but I'm not too sure what exactly is the best route.
some high end headphones have higher impedance and need a more powerful amp to drive.
also the more you spend on gear the better your music sounds (ok this part is sort of a joke)
Don't think I've ever seen such a small product take a kettle lead. That normal for headphone amps?
this works out better than captive cables as you need to change the cable only for different markets vs whatever logistical nightmare you need otherwise
think about it
I did think about it. I just figured IEC-C5 or C7 might be more of a go-to for such a small device.
It’s kind of an unwritten law that pro music equipment doesn’t use adapter packs. Imagine transporting and loss and damage.
Yeah I just thought a smaller plug might make more sense. But yes, thinking about it more, any equipment box is going to have dozens of spare kettle leads. Nice and easy to find.
Yep

Should be able to tag the product model in the deal post.
what DAC do you pair this with?
im using a HD6xx from drop and the x3 i have is not enough to power it so i borrowed my mates o2 dac/amp.
If you want a matching stack you can go with the SMSL M200.
Schiit Modi 3+ is a good dac as well as the Topping E30. For context I have a Magni Herasy/Modi 3+ stack and it has been great.I would be inclined to go with a combo dac headphone amp thing rather than two boxes.
My current setup is a Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 and I have an FX-Audio Tube-03 pre-amp that I can switch in (similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0lTGip-qQc ) and DT990 pro headphones. Eagerly awaiting some Drop HE-X4 headphones which are somewhere between here and the US. I also use my iPhone as a direct source to the amp with Apple Music.
Conversely I'm always inclined to keep them separate, in case something in the chain fails, or you want to try out something different.
I do have an Asgard3 on the way though, which does have an option for internal DAC
Hey thanks @Ausretro, after a bunch of browsing I ordered the modi3+ from the USA site.
Would this drive HD800's, Arya's and Clears ok?
What's this used for?
