    • normally I'd say get an LED torch but at that price you can't complain

Yes. Buy it, put the batteries in your LED torch, and throw away the incandescent one :-)

  • I'm really curious as to what they mean by 'xenon bulb type'.

I presume it's just a normal halogen bulb coated blue?

    • This is not a halogen bulb, it is a standard incandescent bulb.

Contrary to popular opinion, normal incandescent bulbs do not have a vacuum in them. They are filled with a non-reactive gas, which is usually argon because it's cheap. These ones have xenon instead of argon, maybe it makes the bulb brighter by a few percent. I suspect the difference in brightness is so low that you'd have to do a side-by-side comparison to tell the difference, or every bulb would be using xenon.

Also, non-halogen torch bulbs are typically rated for a 100-hour operational lifetime, after which the filament blows, or too much of the filament has transferred to the inside of the glass and blocks the light. Maybe xenon extends the lifetime beyond 100 hours.

  • im only getting out of stock
