Just do one cheek at a time if you're packing.

        And what weight?

        • +2

wouldn't meet ozbargain specs given Lotus Biscoff deals.

This unit is not cheap to run. Also since its so new it doesnt seem to have copy carts as yet.

    • +2

      $689 for 2 x 6,000 page yield cartridges and a 12,000 page imaging unit. That's insane!

Almost 10x the running cost of my printer. Brother MFC-L2710DW using generic cartridges and imaging unit works out to only $75 for 12,000 page yield.

      • +5

Yikes, if only the office was open.
Would just print everything i need at work.

      • +5

A fairer apples-to-apples comparison would be both OEM or both generic pricing. Of course any generic is going to beat OEM pricing.

        • +6

Generics aren't available for the MB2236ADWE as is often the case when it comes to Lexmark printers.

My comparison is based on what is fairer for my wallet. The lowest possible running cost of the MB2236ADWE vs that of the MFC-L2710DW that I'm currently using.

          • @HomeAlone: I think for businesses, generics generally arent a part of the equation. If you print you just want it to work.

            • @tonyjzx: On the contrary, Store a spare printer with the dollars saved.

If anything the repayment coat is much faster.

          • @HomeAlone: Oh wow, they really don't have generics for the Lexmark.
That's fairer then, the rationale just wasn't clear initially.

Personally using the Brother MFC-L2730DW and happy with it. Good to know the generics are plentiful.

            • +2

@Erwark: Lexmark has been fast on DRM nonsense for many years now. Brother or HP IMO. Avoid this crap.

              • @kipps: Good to know. Fortunately I already have a Brother, so I am good.

                (yes, the printer brand)

      • This is really something to be considered when managing cost of ownership and operation.. This right here makes it not that good a deal at all.

      • where are you buying generic cartridges from?

    • +4

New? It says it's discontinued on the Lexmark website. Looks like it came out in 2019.

    • More expensive than the genuine Brother mono laser printer cartridges. Yikes!

  • +1

    cheaper instore?

  • This is a name you dont hear about much anymore. Lexmark used to be pretty massive in printing

    • +1

yep maybe a decade ago lexmark used to be the name for invoicing forms etc. for enterprise level printing

worked for a few companies that relied on their crap

    • +3

Some might even say it's Brother from another mother

      • They weren't xerox enough printing unfortunately

  • Can you please someone let me know about this printer?
Is it good to buy it? Can someone share the review?

    • reviews are on the link to the product.

    • +3

      Get a brother instead..

  • Does anyone know of a good printer (multifunction) with a 2nd tray available either standard or as an option?

  • +1

Would like recommendations for cheaper laser printers (~$100) with cheap toner available. Yell out if any suggestions

    • +5

Def a brother. If you dont need the duplex (double sided feature) HL-L2305W

      If you do need HL-L2375DW.

Generic toner available super cheap from tonerstop. Otherwise can refill the included starter cartridge and convert to XL.

      • exactly what i am using right now

      • How do you refill the toner cartridge, Is there a site that sell a kit or something ?

If I google the part number of the starter cartridge will something come up ?

      • Do you have recommendations for a unit that can scan as well?

        • +5

          Brother MFC-L2750DW

    • Can vouch for Brother. Our inkjet has been running for over a decade and it costs about $12 to refill all 4 cartridges with non-genuine.

  • Are generic toner available for this printer?

  • Can anyone recommend a good colored Officejet or laser Printer please,

  • +1

Second that ,looking a bang for your buck colour laser printer ,for occasional use at home ,that will last a few trouble free years

    • +2

tbh, if you want bang for buck colour, you're better off with an ink-well printer … much cheaper than ink jet to run … far cheaper than colour laser to purchase

      • +1

it's more for the wife who sometimes needs to do occasional printing/office work at home, couple times a month,so heard laser cheaper reliable long run, we had a HP ,but think it's old and wifi not working on it

        • +2

Go with brother laser printer or epson eco tank i have hp mfp the chip is annoying af, and the auto scan feeder is (profanity) after like 50,60 scan, keep saying paper jam when there is no paper, and dont use generic toner. Not worth it, the pigment residue left over in the printer is nasty
Ps if you go with epson inkjet, trick to keep it from dry, use oem or good good generic brand, when done, TURN IT OFF reason inkjet pigment vs dye cheap inkjet use pigment which does require a but of heat, not as much as laser thats where the clog comes from when ink dry out while expensive inkjet uses dye, which is cold print that will not clog

      • Cheers 👍

  • This looks so much like my HP printer MFP series

    • yep. i have an m428 and it looks the same except different size buttons and I think HP has a more annoying chipped toner thing so you cant use generics.

  • Will not recommend Lexmark printersdue to its rather expensive and annoying Toner Cartridge mechanism.
    Brothers is way better.

  • Can anyone recommend a multifunction or a dedicated scanner with a duplex feeder tray for scanning? Currently scanning documents on a flatbed has been bothersome.

    • +1

The Brother MFC-L2750DW is the default MFC for very good reason.

Duplex automatic document feeding scanning, though it's not perfect as I find once in a while the ADF scanning is wonky. Nice quality colour scanning. PDF file sizes larger than I would like.

Good easy to use software too. Whole family has relied it for printing and scanning during lockdown.

      Cheap aftermarket toners.

I also have a Fujitsu ScanSnap IX1400 at work. Absolutely brilliant scanner. Fast, good quality scans and small file sizes. However overkill for a home. Twice the costs of the Brother MFC.

      • Duplex ADF is nice given some documents come double sided.

Alternative is manufacturers do scan one side, then reload and scan other side and put it together (like collated printing to do double sided on single sided printers).

        • Yeah, you can and Brother a $40 cheaper version that doesn't have duplex scanning but for the hassles, it's $40 well spent.

      • Can I just ask if the 2750 scans the whole sheet rather than cutting off 2-3 mms from the edges?

I've been running a 2740 and when I contacted brother about this, I was told that this behaviour is intentional! Mind boggled.

        • Good question. I'm not sure as I haven't noticed it. Happy to test out for you.

I'm assuming you're referring to document feeder?

        • +2

lol.. well, what do you know? My 2750 does the same thing, cuts out about 2-3mm.

Never noticed it before but now will annoy me forever! Not enough for me to get a new MFC though :D

          • @JimB: Thanks for checking, and truly sincere apologies for being the source of the cause of annoyance!

            • +1

              @tebbybabes: Lol all good.

I noticed that it also occurs on the flat bed scanner.

      • The MFC-L2750DW has been difficult to get for months but has just been restocked. I got an email from Umart saying they were in stock again, but became out of stock again soon after. Managed to get one the other day from Officeworks finally.

        • I was lucky, got it just before lockdown last year.

$250 less 5% officeworks price beat.

A godsend with 4 people working/studying from home.

      • The Brother MFC-L2750DW is the default MFC for very good reason.

Duplex automatic document feeding scanning, though it's not perfect as I find once in a while the ADF scanning is wonky. Nice quality colour scanning.

I don’t know if the 2750 is significantly better than the 2740, but I have the latter and it’s a terrible MFD. Duplex scanning is always wonky and colour scanning gives very poor results. In my experience it’s good for B&W text printing and nothing else.

        • I had a bit of a look and the 2740 is one generation older. Hopefully they have improved it with the 2750

          2750 scanning is sometimes wonky.

I think the scanner quality is pretty good for a non dedicated scanner.

          Here's a 300dpi PDF https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GaDcFl8Q55zc3R0iSotqyD6_qok…

750kb so it could be smaller but it's fine if you're only scanning a few pages.

Black and white laser if that's your jam.

MFC-J6730DW colour inkjet if you need colour printing

  • +2

You need total cost of ownership. They just about give away inkjets sometimes for this reason.

Like Coffee machines, they sometimes give them away cheaply to tie you to certain pod types.

  • +1

Note that this one has no compatible toners. So you will almost immediately will have to buy toners after purchase as the starter kit can probably only printer a couple of hundred pages, depending on yield.

  • +1

    Deal breaker- Lacks auto-duplexing ADF

    • what is that

      • +1

It automatically scans pages on both sides.

You can buy a Brother MFC-L2750DW for $250 (pre-covid) that has auto-duplexing ADF.

        • Scanner is almost pointless without ADF two-sided scanning.

          • @bargainluvr: Wouldn't call it pointless but a major inconvenience.

Well worth it to buy a MFC with Duplex ADF.

  • Placed an order from an online computer store and cancel it one hour later after I found that there is NO GENERIC TONER for this model.

    • +1

      Good decision

  • Does this work with AirPrint?

  • I have this at home, bought at Costco in store, last one in store which give a different price, and they mucked around with the model number, luckily for me, get a very very good price
