  • How this better than a car from a toy shop?

    • +3

It's hobby grade, faster, upgradable, repairable.Depends on what car and toy shop you are referring to but these are a good entry grade hobby RC car.

  • how much are batteries by themselves?

    • +1

      They start at $20

  • +2

I haven't got my one from this deal yet, and every week they tell me, wait two weeks to restock.

  • Do you need to supply your own controller?

    • Controller is included.

  • Applied coupon still showing $131

    • Just checked it and it's still working

Make sure to select free shipping and uncheck shipping insurance.

      • Worked thanks

      • Free shipping is not coming up

Looks like the got rid of the Standard Shipping option!

      • how come mine is still showing with shipping fee when checking out, even if i chose the free shipping on the previous page?

ok it went good now, i tried choosing the express shipping (with fee) then it came up to free shipping when checking out

  • So the unit requires one battery, is the other battery spare? Btw, have you bought this unit in the past?

    • The extra battery is to extend runtime between charges. There's plenty of positive feedback in the previous deals

  • The ebay link shows 60km/n, so how fast is the unit? edit, typo on the picture, it says 60km/h.

    • These claims are rarely accurate, I would say its closer to 45-50km/h on concrete.

  • Who has actually bought one and played with it?

  • I have one of these, and I'm buying another, this price is awesome. These things are pretty damn fast, maybe 40-45/kmhr. The short wheelbase is sometimes hard to drive but a bucket of fun

    • But that's AU$433

      • Yes it is, but? Worth that just in it's drive train.

        • But… The car in question is worth ~$120. It's like posting a deal for a BMW M3 in a price discussion thread about a Suzuki Swift, it might be a good deal, and it definately is better but I'm pretty sure the person looking at the Suzuki doesn't have the budget for it.

        • Could you please elaborate. When I look at the JLB I see a chassis that is the same general design as the 144001 with a 3S brushless kit fitted in. To me that seems like it should cost maybe $250 total.

          • +1

@CyberGenesys: The JLB one is 1/8 scale for one thing, not that I'd buy it. For that money you may as well get a reputable brand.

I bought one from previous deal and bought this one for parts :-). My kids love it and we have built a ramp and probably do 100 jumps in a day with two batteries.
Weekends are high speed runs in empty footy ovals, or nearby carpark. Due to their high speed we ended up in multiple crashes and few broken/ bent parts as a result, but I love wrenching so enjoying the maintenance. After watching many YouTube videos about metal upgrade I am sticking with stock plastic, energy has to go somewhere and parts are not only cheap they still can be made functional with some creativity.

My list of broken things and fixes

I had one bent/deformed front arm despite being plastic(it's some hard plastic), never thought it will survive, , with some effort managed to get it slightly straight, will continue using until it fully breaks.

Had a shock totally bent in one crash was able to fix and rebuild without problem, made my own cocktail of oil+rubber grease and can control their dampness.

some plastic sleeves are broken currently holding tight with hot glue. Overall it's the front of the car which absorbs most of the energy in a crash.

Back spoiler (I don't know it's exact name) is badly damaged, it has more hot glue than the actual part. Thinking of making something from wood oor aluminium, $10 new body from AliExpress is also an option. Ooh wait I'll get new body from this deal :-)

With all these fixs I have no doubt things might have changed slightly in cars geometry especially as I moved front beaten shocks to rear, they were 4mm smaller for better handling but fun hasn't stopped.

  • Been looking for rc cars for kids, is it worth paying extra for this brand? There are many $60ish similar ones on ebay.

    • +1

I have the 144001 and 12427 and both are hobby grade (upgradable, tunable, repairable) but for kids I'd recommend the 12427. More durable and better for off road use.

      • How do you think a 6 year old would go with the 12427. I am trying to buy him something that he can also control

        • +1

On either model you can reduce the throttle speed so no issues with control.

  • +1

    thanks, bought 2
also checking if there are nay deals for WLtoys 12427 .. ??

    • i'm keen on the WLToys 12427 too but it looks like the one n the AU warehouse comes with only 1 battery and is $120.22

    • I put 12427 wheels on this 144001 and the resulting vehicle was better than the 12427. Faster, better ground clearance, independant suspension and lower centre of gravity. 144001 doesn't look as cool, but I stole the shell off an Eachine EAT08 which solved that

    Good Reviews!

Bought one! After watching the reviews was convinced! Looks like a fun little car! Red looks better than Green i reckon. Looking forward to test it out.

  • Pretty decent price but the 124017 is just around the corner. Hmm

  • +1

Also for anyone buying one please google/youtube/whatever about the diff grease in these. If you want the car to last a while it's worth spending half hour to pack your bearings. You won't need much more than some towel, a takeaway container to contain your parts and a phillips screw driver and some generic 'grease'.
