    Love your cables fanks

  • They are the best!!

  • Just ordered 10, hope they are as good as what the last 2 have said.

  • +7

Neg me if you want for this, but are Jamell cables really that good? I've seen equivalent cables go for $4 delivered, on eBay. SO really these cables should at least be as cheap as ones on eBay, and this doesn't include the 8% buy it now fee.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/2m+hdmi+cable

Also don't forget, these cables use a 30AWG wire gauge. Nothing wrong with that, but really 28AWG is much better and it's disappointing that Jamell Cables are only using a 30AWG gauge.

Jamell cables must be quite reliable and they must provide quite a good service, when there are cheaper and better options out there.

    EDIT: $4 2M v1.4 cable on ebay - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2m-HDMI-Cable-v1-4-3D-High-Speed-…

Their service is top notch ; )

  • +15

    Not a bargin.

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64678 - This was selling $2.95. Even at $3.95 it is still 20% cheaper than yours.

    • +5

ahhh yes…. this site certainly makes sense….. the one-in-a-hundred actual appropriate use of the negative vote, pointing to the same item but cheaper, gets negged to oblivion.

Ozbargain in reverse….. the more expensive options get the positives…..

      sigh…

      • -5

-2 is negged to oblivion? Exaggerate much?

        • you've come a little late to the party…..

        • +1

damn 10 people dont know what the heck they are talking about whats wrong with his neg? seems correct? if your going to neg someone least you could do is offer a reason why you did, Mods this is exactly why negs should be shown!

    • +2

Agreed and im going to comment just to neg this. I think people are losing the concept of ozbargain.

      • +3

good to see that we haven't yet lost the inappropriate neg vote….. had me worried for a moment….

    Hi Rep,
I have asked you earlier also for deal on your Premium cables, 1m or 2m. 1m or 2m for 10 bucks.
    Any luck?

  • +4

How did this get so many positive votes? They're cheaper here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/320816958825

    • +1

Easier to upvote than to think?

      • +1

I suppose, but now they're down voting the people who post a link to a cheaper option.

    • people prefer green to red?

+ve for good service. Order didn't arrive at all last Christmas period (last Ozbargain deal) and when they suggested they reship and I agreed, they arrived within days and I was happy. They then refunded the $10 I'd spent.

A while later I was having problems with T.V. reception (again) so I decided to finally /research/ the best solutions. Top of the list was high quality cables and connectors (of certain names that I forget now). Jamell ONLY sell those types of T.V. aerial cables and connectors,so if I'd ordered cables from them blindly then I'd have been just as well off as having researched my options; you can't say that for every store. I did order that cable — which came with the connector, and at a reasonable price — and my T.V. now works for the first time since rearranging my room.

All those things aside, they /are/ cheap. It's fine to post a better alternative, but slightly cheaper HDMI cables on eBay..? Read up, this is a 20% coupon for a good store — not just an HDMI cable deal.

Do you mean the RG6 F Type Coaxial Cable? I didn't realise TV antenna cable matters when it comes to reception. Might give a try.

      • +2

        Yes, the coaxial cable matters.

Almost all TV cables (the cables that go from the TV to the wall socket) have a solid signal wire, the wire in the center of the cable. Many many reception problems are caused when this signal wire snaps, because the cable was flexed a dozen times or so. It almost always snaps in the inch closest to one of the connectors, because that's usually where it gets flexed most.

The other standard problem with TV cables is the coaxial cable that goes to the antenna, the cable that's usually inside the wall. At the antenna end of that cable, rainwater gets into the cable and wrecks it. Many people buy a new antenna, thinking that was the cause of their problem, when really the antenna was fine - but antenna installers replace the cable too, so you never realise that you didn't need their overpriced antenna.

      • Yes, that's the one. It was the only way to get it to work after moving my T.V. to the other side of the room where I had to extend the cable over a few metres (two cheap cables connected with a signal amplifier didn't work). It works now. I think the difference has something to do with shielding; either aerial cables aren't normally shielding, or that type has more shielding? Anyway, it works.

        • The old-style flat "ribbon" antenna cables didn't have shielding, but these haven't been in common use for over a decade. You can still see this cable on some of the "rabbit ears" TV antennas. All of the round antenna cables have shielding.

The quality of the shielding usually indicates the quality of the cable. Cheap cables use metal-coated plastic as the shielding, and have a "drain wire" in contact with this so you have something to solder to. Better cables have braided copper as the shield, but the braid is sparse - you can still see the inner wire's insulation through the braid. The best cables have really dense copper braid, so you won't be able to see the inner wire's insulator.

There is also "dual shield" and "quad shield" TV cable, which is quite expensive and quite thick, and quite stiff too, so it is harder to install. The extra shielding helps if you are in a fringe reception area. These cables usually have a low-loss dielectric (inner-wire insulation) as well, and are better for very long (>10m) antenna cables - less of the signal is absorbed as it travels through the cable.

Another common trap for antenna cables is for people who install their own cables, and don't realize that TV antenna cables have to have 75 ohms impedance. Most types of coaxial cable have 50 ohms impedance, it's very easy to buy cable with the wrong impedance. Generally, only cable intended for TV antennas has 75 ohms impedance.

The cables work well, and the service is great. I stuffed up my order last time and ordered too many, and they happily fixed it up.

  • +1

I bought some last time around and they're already starting to fall apart… mostly things like connectors coming loose (not the part that goes into the TV, the thing you're holding when you plug in and remove the cable)

The cable works fine, but its obviously a cheap product made in China

    • +3

I think pointing out something made in china is a bit stupid these days.

  • +1

not a bad price, but cheaper here everyday:
    http://www.gadgetcity.com.au/lightningcell-hdmi-v1.4-cable-2…

not sure how the quality compares, but I've bought 2 from gadgetcity and had no problems with them.

  • +3

This deal made it onto the front page When its not even close to the best price ? what's going on today

    • +3

Its because they have great service and a great product, at a good price.

Would you not agree that you would pick Optus over Vodafone as they have better service, even if it costs more?

FYI they have been around way before all the eBay sellers rocked up. Id rather stay loyal to them and get the service.. Its like $1 difference.

No wonder we dont get service in retail stores anymore 0.o

  • +2

    Many cheaper places around.

  • Aren't places like MSY just as cost effective? (providing you live near one)

  • 30 awg is less than half the diameter of 24 awg thickness. Which means less throughput, more interference, less quality image and sound. Sure it's cheap but if you're buying a $700 t.v. I'd spend the extra $15 for 24awg cable. Personally I use $5 cable but hey I never bought an expensive t.v. I just wanted one cable to carry image and sound rather than a tangled mess. I can't thumbs up this as you can buy cheap cable cheaper on eBay and if you want serious cable you're in the wrong place.

    • why spend 15 bux on a 2 meter cable?regardless of your tv…? unless your extending them its not going to matter at this length, tests have shown it really dosnt matter until you hit about 10 meters.
its not an analogue cable, your not going to get a better picture the more you spend unless its a REALLY dodgy cable at this length.
as long as all the bits get though, its not going to make a difference.

      • Agreed!

I can't believe how much people are duped into paying for HDMI cables from B&M stores. It's robbery and it's people that don't know any better about AV stuff that get robbed.

I purchased four 1.5m HDMI cables for $16 the other day as I had changed over my home theatre and the pic and audio are superb - Avatar on blu-ray shines. Couldn't possibly be any better with a cable twice the price, or even 20 times the price.
