  • Does the 1 inverter mean that if any one of the 17 panels is shaded, the power generated is limited to what the shaded panel can produce?
Is it possible to have more inverters?

  • what inverter are you using?

Waiting on a decent deal for a 10kW Jinko or LG system

      Likewise

    • I got recently Jinko tiger from Solar Miner $1050 after Rebate, SolarVic Rebate ($1,400), and SolarVic Interest-Free Loan ($1,400).

  • What would a setup like this mean for a smaller, two-bed townhouse that uses roughly 12.5kWh per day?

Bit of a noob to all this.

Depends on your location, orientation , issues like shading.

When you get a quote ( IMHO you should get multiple quotes ) the retailers have software to estimate your solar production.

Research a bit, look at what brand panels and inverters come up regularly.

I have read that there is a general "average " for a 6.6 Kwatt system of around 26 Kwatt hours a day, based on 5 hours full sun - but that is obviously going to vary.

I'm in Melbourne , we have shading issues - for August my 6.6 Kwatt system produced 425 Kwatt hours. The best day's production was 26 Kwatt hours, the lowest was around 5 Kwatt hours. This will increase as the days get longer and the Sun rises higher.

The value depends on your deal with your retailer.

I'm in the process of switching to a deal that charges around 25 cents per Kwatt hour and buys my excess for 12 cents.

  • out of curiosity anyone know if the following are any good or if i should steer clear of?

    370w Talesun half-cell solar panels
    Growatt 8 kW inverter

    • steer clear off. Never heard of Talesun. Growatt is a cheapy. Better off with a Trina and Goodwe combo.

  • Any recommendation for smart efficient inverter and battery combo. My house has hip and valley roof.

  • For a 6.6kw system, what is a typical winter season (June-July) capacity production per hour? I have read that it can drop to as low as only 2kw max at 11 to 1pm in the month of June. Based on that, daily peak winter production is only going to be around 10 to 12 kwh which makes payback really challenging.

  • I'm wondering what the cost is without rebate.
