    Boycott Harvey Norman!

    • +2

Agreed. I'd spend 7% more to avoid him getting one cent of my money. He made enough on Windows 95 sales.

After being accused of fraud (buying gift cards with Amex cashback offers) I refuse to shop at HN.

That and the endless list of reasons on why Gerry Harvey is a (profanity).

    • After being accused of fraud

Who accused you of fraud? What gift cards did you buy with Amex offers?

      • Asked where they kept their prepaid VISA cards and the staff went off on a rant accusing me of trying to cheat them by using Amex (Hadn't even got to taking out my wallet yet)

Another time wanted to buy some Domayne gift cards (to be used at HN) and again was treated like a criminal when they found out I was paying with Amex.

        • I thought Visa cards requires to be activated and incurs a fee?

          • @marc171: Yeah but they assumed (correctly I must say) that I was going to pay with Amex cards to get the cash back.

            • @t25: None of their business.

              • @Guybrush57: Agree but they seem to think that they are paying for it out of their own pocket.

To be honest I don't really buy anything from HN. Unless I can stack a few deals together to get a great price.

lmao what fraud, you're paying them money in exchange for a gift card and the bonus coming from AMEX, which ultimately will and can only be used as HN/Domayne.

HN staff acting like it comes out of their wage smh.

By the same token, should we also boycott Amazon ?

That's up to you. Personally I have avoided (not stop completely) buying from Amazon.

If you haggle down a price at HN can you usually use gift cards to pay? Not that I would ever support Gerry but just wondering about doing this at JB

    • Yes you can, they don't care how you pay. Got them to price beat and paid it with these discounted gift card today.

Same with The Good Guys as well. they had sent a link to pay with the agreed discounted price and it had an option to pay via gift card.

      • Exactly! They even get the full amount in the till. But I cannot argue with dinosaurs who have their minds set in stone.

Gerry Harvey / Norman Ross been fleecing us for decades; most of their furniture is Chinese garbage

I'd like to see HN implode , ideally because of a huge scandal, then get necro'ed by Kogan.

    • tbh i don't know how i'd feel about that; kogan doesn't exactly have a good reputation either :\

      • Doesn’t matter. Not like id buy from them anyway. It would be more like the ultimate insult to Gerry

  • +1

Gerry Harvey is evil, boycott at all costs

    HN? No thanks.

Hey how about my 10% gst back if you know what I mean

Breaking: Furniture and electronics giant Harvey Norman has repaid $6 million in JobKeeper subsidies following record profits for the 2021 financial year.

    • +2

That's like stealing a whole roast chook from Coles and returning the bones with an apology note.

      • Yeah

"The $6.02 million figure, repaid by the business, reflects all the wage subsidies received by company-controlled entities over the 2020 and 2021 financial years. A remaining $14.5 million, which was not repaid, was received by the company’s privately owned franchisees."
