For $97 it's an absolute steal

Had this keyboard for a year and a bit, can safely say it's super well made, perfect if you aren't a fan of clicky keys. Had to swap it out for typing as even after a year it still was uncomfortable compared to a slim design

Jb had it for $70 something.

  • pretty much the hyperx version of the gpro keyboard except wired. HIghly recommend if youre into FPS games or casual use with lightweight keycaps :)

  • +1

    Silver though :(

  • I have the TKL version, very well built just plan to replace the keycaps to PBT in the future. In house Hyperx aqaus and reds are very nice too

    • Just an FYI that the HyperX PBT keycaps don't have the FN symbols on the function and arrow keys (i.e. to change the RGB settings, play/pause, volume up/down, brightness, etc).

  • I often feel that keys are getting slippery after a while of use on my three mechanical keyboards. What's the best way to resolve this issue? Thanks

    • +1

Are they shiny? This is a result of ABS keycaps wearing out over time.

PBT keycaps don't wear and won't shine.

      • I have Razer Black Widow and Hyperx Alloy and Logitech G613. All of them have the "slippery" key issue after a while of use. So are all these non PBT? Thanks

        • +1

Yep, all three 3 use ABS.

          • @The Value: Just confirming that the keyboard in this deal is ABS as well? If this is the case, can you recommend me some PBT keyboard? I noticed PBT key caps on Amazon will cost another $50 such as Razer brand. Any other alternative? Thanks

@HappyBargainer: So you need to be careful buying aftermarket caps for those "gaming brand" keyboards because they use non-standard bottom rows (Razer uses a small Windows key, Corsair has longer spacebar, Logitech has a short spacebar, weird capslock and right-shift). Do your research on the exact model, as they change some of these things.

For most keyboards, including the HyperX one in the deal, any ANSI-layout PBT set is good and you can even find some affordable keys on Aliexpress/eBay etc. If you want something that feels similar in shape, OEM-style keycaps are the go.

Word of advice - PBT are harder plastic. Which means they barely wear and keep that new feeling texture. But if you cheap out on really thin caps, they can sound thinner and noisy and poor moulding might not show the backlight well. ABS being softer tends to muffle the sound slightly more and allow for crisper backlights (due to the manufacturing process)

Let me know if there's anything else we can help with.

              • @Erwark: Thank you so much. I found Hyperx official PBT keycaps on Amazon:
                https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B087QTWCTQ/ref=ox_sc_ac…

In the future, I might need to purchase PBT keyboard as the cost of the keyboard plus another set of PBT caps is high. I also found the razer official PBT keycaps on amazon as well which is around $50. I might choose the white color as some users complained about the led lights could be blocked by the black keycap. I am unsure if the white could be too bright at night.

                • @HappyBargainer: HyperX uses the regular layout on both their keyboards and keycaps. So that will work on this board (but you're not limited to HyperX caps).

PBT keyboards are pretty uncommon, tbh. For widely available brands, it's basically just Ducky, Varmillo, etc (which are excellent). You might end up paying what a lot to save (not suggesting that these brands aren't much better quality than the gaming brands)

The lighting shouldn't be any different on the letters themselves, as they're all doubleshot-injected PBT with a different shell. The backlit part is the same material. What might leak more like is the rest of the keycap, which might actually affect clarity. Honestly that's up to you, but I use blank keycaps, so being able to see the characters is not a concern, haha.

EDIT: if you've gone through a bunch of keyboards and know what you like, you might be ready to buy your end-game* board, so I am not discouraging you from investing in something nice, but at the same time if you like the current boards, then you might as well spend the 50 on keys that will outlive civilisation.
*there is no endgame in mechanical keyboards. It's a drug, especially if you get something more moddable.

                  • @Erwark: I will order from Amazon to give a try. The keycap is almost half price of the whole keyboard. Haha.

          Hyper X PBT caps

  • Great keyboard for FPS (get PBT caps to add on). Not great for typing in general though. Personally use this for competitive gaming

    • Found Hyperx PBT key caps on Amazon.

    • Personal preference. There are a whole bunch of enthusiasts who are linear gang when it comes to typing. Silvers are just short-actuation Linear Reds, in most cases.

Some would make the argument that clickies or tactiles are meant for typing, but you can absolutely use them the other way around. I gamed on clickies and tactiles for ages and now I type and game on linears.
