  • Are you asking if this is a deal or are you telling us it is. If you're asking, well it's a great deal and you should buy it.

    • I bought it. And verified it was a good product and good price, then posted the deal.

  • This is very good price…I bought it in May 2020 for $2600. Happy with projector.

    • Glad to hear a positive experience. Thanks for your input :)

  • These darn processing chips.

I bet its capable of 75hz 2k, but they didnt validate it.

Still, very cool deal, well respected 'fast' projector.

  • After some research I decided to go with the Epson TW7100 over this due to differences in picture and fan noise and I didn't need 240hz. I also found the Epson cheaper than this but it was a refurb.

Not trying to convince you either way (happy to be corrected) as I was not able to demo both side by side just offering up some information.

    • How much did you pay for it.

    • What is the price of Epson 7100 and from where?

  • Is this store reliable?

Long trading history since 2009, I verified on ABN lookup before purchasing.

Had an optoma 4k projector overseas, can't remember the model, they're pretty good, nice colours and sharpness especially with HDR content, although HDR is a projectors weak point since they can't really do it properly.

I'll probably get a 1080p projector as I need low input lag, just be aware of the limitations of these 4k projectors, they will likely never do Dolby vision

Apologies for the incoherentness of this post, brain still waking up.

These are low input lag, at least 16ms for 60hz and 4ms for 1080p 240hz. Iirc. On toilet workbreak, brain is also fuzzy, might be the fumes.

      • Yeah I remember reading about these before they were released, would make sense since it is a gaming projector lol.

Optoma have (had) really good support they were constantly upgrading and improving the firmware when I bought mine years back.

  • Any good deal/recommendations on ultra-short throw ones?

  • This is the UHD35+ but I have no clue what the difference between the UHD35 and UHD35+ is. It seemed like the UHD35 came out early this year and then they replaced it with the UHD35+.

I have been checking out pseudo-4K gaming projectors and my choice is coming down to this one (UHD35+), the Viewsonic 748-4K, and the Benq TK700STi. At the moment, I like the shorter throw of the Benq. I get a bad feeling about Optoma because of the problems people seem to have had with the UHD50X (4K game mode downsamples to 1080p). There aren't a lot of reviews/info on the Viewsonic.

Any recommendations and opinions are welcome.

This price is good though. Other places have it for $1900-$2000. Might be because the Viewsonic is around $1700.

    • The uhd35+ seems to be a 4000 lumen version of the uhd35. It is sold overseas as the uhd38, from my look at specs.

Uhd38 appears in projector central throw distance calculator but uhd35+ is absent.

  • I've been thinking of upgrading from my w1070 for a while now and this is one of the candidates, along with the BenQ tk 700sti. However the XGIMI led projector that's come out recently also looks great. Anyone know image wise if the LED can match a lamp bulb?

    • I'm unfamiliar with the technology. Hence my post in the "find me a bargain" before posting this deal.

But in my uneducated opinion, having a not-entry-level bulb projector beats the pants off an entry level version of some superior technology. Because first gen, and budget versions, nessesarily leave out some important but not core function of the device. Version 3, middle tier, that's where quality/price = value ratio highest is at any point in time, in my opinion - at least with entertainment and electronics technology.

      • Yeah not just that a UST laser will need a pretty expensive ALR screen to get the max brightness and more than 120 inch is not practical and mostly not feasible. Moreover no home projector can match a top end telly's contrast and black levels and TV sizes keep going up and prices keep coming down so why buy into a product for 20 years when you may not need it after 5 years. Bulbs are cheap, bulb based projectors have better blacks and contrast than laser and bulb tech has been around for decades. Admittedly nothing matches the experience of a 130 inch screen but like I said if space is a constraint a good sound bar and a decent sized TV is the way to go instead of a sub par UST laser projector and a 100 inch screen.

Edit..I replied to the wrong post but this unit will beat the Xgimi anyday in every way

This is a great projector at this price but like someone else said the refurb Epson tw7100 is a better buy at 1600 with 2 years warranty. I have seen both in action and you can compare the specs online. This is my opinion though best bet is to see them yourselves and decide as I do not play video games. Epsons both tw7100 and tw9400 both come up on Epson's site but dont last long. Here is the site for anyone interested

    • Epson's are really well received by the avs forum community. I'd probably spring for an Epson too.

    • Just got one! Thanks! One more left!

I ordered one of these last week and they said it is on backorder with an ETA of Late October. I asked to cancel the order and they are charging me a 2% credit card fee. Be ware.
