  • Nothing like be tied to the bank…

  • Jeez, I don't think $50 is enough to compensate for the hassle of actually entering a bank and standing in a bank line- something I haven't done in a long, long time.

  • Seems a lot of hassle for $100. Commonwealth bank only need you to get a credit card and you get $100 back.

agreed, the banks are catching on to ozb and similar and making you jump through more hoops! this time next year i predict they will give half the bonus($50) but make you work twice as hard, like 1)open new account 2)deposit 2X the money($3k) in half the time 3)like on facebook and 4)refer 2 friends who aren't NAB customers! soon, NAB will be cutting 75% of staff and getting new customers to do most of the work! lol!

  • Its getting harder and harder to get the free money from banks :(

Not so. ING Direct just gave me 50 cents and they'll give me another 50 cents soon … HAH!

  • hmm, reminds me - i need to close my classic account. i haven't touched it for ages

  • "Fees and charges apply". $50 of fees and $50 of charges?

  • no fees/charges apply for opening their transaction a/cs or saving a/cs or term deposit. (stated on their website) I think the fees and charges apply to the credit card application. There should be monthly fee for credit card. I will open one within this week. Free $ anyway.

  • "Existing NAB Classic Banking customers are not eligible for the second offer".
So existing customers can ask them to open accounts, get $50 and close accounts?

  • existing nab classic customer can still get $50 for open three accounts but not extra $50

  • Wait, what? If I am reading this correctly, you will only get $100 if your current bank charges $100 in fees? How do they prove that?

  • Just tried to take advantage of this at the Canberra City branch and was informed that they will only count either insurance or credit products as the third product (on top of the transaction and savings accounts).

    Not real happy.

    • i would try 2 more branch to confirm this 3rd product issue. u might be right but worth to try if u border. i always get different solution at nab by just who and where u talk to

    • what about a term deposit as described in the deal description or is that incorrect?

  • well the savings account and online account are easy to open.

what is a (3rd product) that is easy to open, low barriers to entry.

Fee free credit card?, weird product that isnt listed on website?

According to that the lowest annual fee card is the "Low Fee" card at $30/year.

That reduces the benefit to $70. Sneaky sneaky!

There is a way to avoid the annual fee on the credit card! Just own 500 NAB shares. At $23.67 a pop (as of now) that is $11,825 + brokerage. Probably not the best way to save $30 :)

    • applying for a credit card just for $50 seems silly

  • different staff make their own rules which really is not on. i went to a cbd branch and they told me that existing customers don't qualify if they open up the same existing accounts so i called up and was told that I had to open up only from the choices of a classic and isaver and a credit card at the same time in a branch so i dont qualify as i already have an account. a bit misleading since it says in the terms that existing customers can apply and receive $50. i might just end up closing them all and trying a different branch.? can anyone confirm if they are an existing customer and were successful in qualifying for this campaign at a branch and what products they opened? i wonder if any of these qualify for existing customers with a classic account?>:
    Nab gold transaction account
    NAB iSaver
    NAB Smart Reward Saver
    NAB Smart Junior Saver
    NAB Term Deposits
    NAB Cash Manager

  • I have sent my enquiry about this promotion. None of my questions can be answered and the staff just copy and paste the information on the promotion website for my email enquiries.

I asked which new products I need to open in order to qualify this promotion. The staff replied "The offer states, that you must open three different new products not of the same type. To confirm product types which you may open, please visit your local NAB branch."

Can anyone in here confirm the new three products must be isaver a/c, transaction a/c plus the credit card AND NOT the term deposits?

Jesus, I do not understand why the NAB staff who do not know their products at all, can answer the email enquiry of the customer.

If you have Facebook you can try posting here (https://www.facebook.com/NAB?sk=wall). More pressure for them to answer properly ;-)
