Banggood's AU warehouse has now started to stock several of OzB's favourite mobile phones, including the POCO X3 Pro, POCO F3 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro. The prices for AU stock are more expensive than HK stock, however the shipping is much quicker with 1-week delivery.

Note: I have included prices for both warehouses in title.

For me, this is the best value for bucks phone of the year 2021.

I bought 8GB/256GB from Banggood in $505 and it was delivered in 2 weeks from HK.

    • +1

Oh wow that's quick! Thought it would take at least 4 weeks for delivery from HK.

      • +1

No. Whatever I have so far bought from Banggood, was always delivered in about 2 weeks time here in Sydney.

    • Looking to pick up that version, did it come with a charger that works in Australia? or do I need to pick up something extra to make it work?

      • +1

It did come with a charger and AU adapter, so you will be all good to charge it right out of the box.

        • cheers mate! can't wait

  • Does the AMOLED use PWM?

  • +1

    Wish it has wireless charging…

Shopback Cashback Rates Group B 8.00% Group A 5.00%. Can anyone tell me what constitutes Group B and Group A ? Had a look on Shopback still none the wiser.

i got a keyboard back then from banggood that was 5% only so i assume phone would be similar category?

I bought this on release for $310 aud. I could not find any feature it had that was significantly better than my locally bought Realme 6 from August 2020 ($360). Lack of adware and local warranty being the obvious benefits of the Realme. Anyone care to enlighten me?

    • +2

You sure it's the F3, the global launch price was AU$435

      • +3

Oh, it was X3, my bad!

    • Main advantages would be hardware and display over the realme 6, you should also try to install MIUI EU as it has more features than global rom.

      • Apparently EU rom has no bloatware either.

I hate miui, flashed poco x3p with aarow os. That was a pia also, Xiaomi phones are the worst to root 🤦

And it has the charging cable with plug in it.
    Unlike thugs Samsung and Apple.

Wonder what Apple will remove next - maybe the battery! And Samsung will follow!

    • Just as rediculous, but people are speculating that Apple will remove the charging port next. Because the EU will force everyone to use usb-c later on this year.

The reason for this speculation, they reckon apple doesn't want to lose out on the ~$5 or whatever they are charging for third party lightning connectors. So instead, they will sell proprietary wireless connectors instead

  • I think I'm going to get the redmi note 10 pro. Don't need 5g or WiFi 6. Does anyone really need WiFi 6 anyway on a phone.

  • +1

I am waiting for deal on Redmi Note 10 Pro for its better camera :)

    • Same here. Just over 300 bucks would be good.

  • What's the best way to pay USD? Paying via paypal with mastercard. Do I get commonwealth bank to the conversion?

    • +2

Pay with PayPal with credit card but ensure your PayPal is setup so it doesn't do any conversion but charges the amount in USD. (So you are not hit with PayPal conversion charges, just make sure the amount shown till the last checkout screen is in USD and doesn't show its equivalent AUD.)

  • Good luck with cash back, I had nothing but problems, even when I made a missing claim. Still had dramas.

Lucky for me gotyourback sorted it out through DM

  • Bear in mind has been stuttery mess since Miui 12.5. Redmi Note 10 Pro apparently been the same as well.

12.5 Enhanced Edition coming soon to fix these issues hopefully.

I've got a Poco F1; don't really feel like I need to upgrade, but I am about to drop a new ROM on it as the latest update has murdered battery life. I didn't actually opt to update, but had to do a factory reset and it came up w/ the newest version. Kinda pissed off about that TBH.

Anyway, [a] any thoughts on a good ROM to use? and [b] Is there any compelling reason to consider an upgrade? 5G would be good as I tether for my internet, but aside from that?

    TIA for any input!

I've been using Pixel Experience on the F1 for years, can't go wrong with it. If you've had it a while the battery also might be crapping out. Its really easy to replace on this phone. normally its hard to find a decent aftermarket battery that meets the 4000mah original, but i've had really good luck with this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000136435823.html?spm=a2g0s….

      • Cheers for that - I'll order another battery to extend the life of the unit, but it's happened literally overnight so I'm pretty confident it's the new MIUI doing things differently.

I'll try the Pixel Experience ROM; factory resetting made me realise how hard I'd modded the factory ROM, getting rid of a lot of Xiaomi bloat. I don't even remember how I did it, or know if bloat is just worse on the new MIUI release. The Facebook service, which I have no interest in having and seeminly can't easily stop or remove, keeps telling me it's crashed. Which is great, that's how I want it - broken - but I haven't installed the FB app, don't want it and can't help but wonder why it's crashing…

    • mines still going strong after nearly 4 years, battery life isnt great though

going to run it to the ground before i upgrade

    • +1

It might be worthing changing the battery?

I've recently bought a poco x3 pro as a backup phone and installed ArrowOS. Pretty damn good rom IMO, it has made be not want to buy another samsung phone again (although quite often samsung comes out with nice features before google thinks/copies it). It is so smooth compared to other skinned android roms

Arrowos is stock and clean, you can even opt out of google apps that are typicall pre-installed on the phone. I absolutely hated MIUI, I personally found it a lot worser than samsung oneui. About the only thing I miss from MIUI is the themes app

      • Yup, I've ordered a new battery and some new screen protectors too. My hope is it'll least me another couple of years. Maybe till the Poco 5 :)

I agree about Samsung. It's a long time since I had one of their phones. Might even have been the S3.

Thanks for the recommendation for Arrow: I haven't heard of it until now. Is it from XDA-devs??

One thing I think I will want baked in is the call recording feature. That's saved my ass more than once - a classic "didn't know I needed it until I had it and now don't want to not have it" feature.

  • This or TCL 10 Pro? (any merit in buying a 4g phone right now?)

  • Whats the difference between the HK and Oz stock?

    • +1

      Faster delivery.

      • I think with Xiaomi phones theres an international version and a Chinese version. Is the HK stock the international version?

        • +1

They're both Global versions. The Chinese version is the Redmi K40.

  • It's 5USD more now.

  • Banggood is scambags, took a deposit for one of the deals, never communicated back to pay the rest and now saying sale is ended and deposit is not refundable. Avoid.
