  • this it the cheapest swiss watch i've ever seen

There's nothing special or interesting about a Swiss quartz watch.

Mechanical watches are a different matter. It takes some ingeneous design and very precise manufacture to make a little spring-powered machine that can keep time accurate to within seconds per week. The Swiss do that very well, but it costs you.

Quartz/battery watches… meh. Boring. They work, they're deadly accurate, and they have no soul. Doesn't matter whether they're built in Switzerland, China or Japan.

      • i agree with that largely however too noobs and non watch people i think the allure of a cheap swiss watch is tempting

although 'swiss made' can mean something else entirely (ie. chinese movt. assembled in switzerland)

not many can truly afford a decent swiss mechanical watch so a cheap sub $200 swiss electric isn't that bad a deal

        • Not many can afford a decent Swiss mechanical watch, so a cheap sub $200 Russian mechanical isn't that bad a deal ;-)
I love my self-winding Vostok watch. You could drive a T34 tank over it and probably do more damage to the tank. Never misses a beat.

    • But that says "Special $99.00"… so this is a special special surley?
I don't really care, watches died with the advent of mobiles ;)

        But that says "Special $99.00"

The way the rep is portraying it here makes it appear like you are saving $84 when in fact you are only saving $4 from what they've been normally selling these at, so this is a very misleading and deceptive way of advertising a product…

  • Those specials are genuine. Every once in a while, Wenger will release for marketing reasons a number of watches to hit price points. The fact you can buy a genuine Swiss watch below $100 is amazing. Once these are gone with the bracelet, it will be the end of them. Please note all Wenger watches include the standard 3 year International warranty with all their watches regardless. Nothing misleading about the price or advertising. Thats what a genuine special is. Also those watches do currently sell for $179.00 in David Jones. Those price tags are still attached to the product.

By no means were we buying exclusively at the discounted rates, while there are some of these still available at these prices, it really is first come first served.

I hope thats an open and valid explanation for you.
