Will need to change the plug, but voltage is correct.

Have been looking to purchase this saw for a while available only from total tools in Australia for $879.

Evosaw totaltools

A few things to note.
From total tools this saw comes with a stainless steel only blade! So if you want to cut mild steel you're in for another minimum $180 for an evo saw blade off ebay here or the Diablo blade from total tools here $249 if you want to walk out of the shop with a working saw you're at $1,128!!

I spoke to 4 different total tools branches to see if they could swap the stainless blade for a mild steel one at the same price but they don't even stock them. The last guy was quite friendly and I had a chat to him about the warranty on the saw and he said total tools service is somewhere between terrible and rubbish for these kind of Items when they have to take care of it, expect around 3 month turn around (non covid times)…

So the way I see it for $645 if the saw dies in the next 3 years I can buy a new one, get a second mild steel blade valued at $180-$249 and that puts me right about back to square one as if I bought it locally.

I understand people hesitation dropping not a small amount of money on an item with no warranty, but personally I couldn't bring myself to give these guys my hard earned money and have to buy a blade on top!

First post, found a great deal (imo) and wanted to share! Will update when mine arrives.

Not for me but here to say an amazing first post. Cheers.

  • Amazon AU gives you the warranty from UK/US and either a refund on return shipping cost or pre-paid shipping label and full refund for the cost of the item upon it arriving back in origin country warehouse. Sounds far better than stuffing around with total tools warranty!

  • sydney tools have bayer cold cut of saw for $429 with carbide tipped blade ( not grinder blade) it’s slow rpm , approx 1500 if you don’t like their blade and want to add the evolution one for $148 …..

i had an evolution circulat saw …..lost the bevel locking screw, after 5 mths wait and several emails and phone calls , still no replacement part in australia ….in the end they refunded ……warranty on some obscure brands does create a throw away scenario unless you can get parts support from overseas , and evolution said “ contact total tools” ……

.once you change the plug .warranty is void ……

bought the wagner sprayer from amazon UK BUT wagner australia have parts which i’d need to pay for, same issue with welders and 15 amp plugs …..cut the plug and wire up a 10 amp plug, warranty is void ….very specific about it in my boss weld warranty that i bought at bunnings.

    • Thanks for the tip! Might keep it on a wall plug adapter for now.

Something about the way the Bayer looks seems a little cheap to me, would love to check it out on person (impossible at the moment), just one of those got feelings.

Also considered the slugger with a German made motor for $875 online, but the deck on the Evo saw sealed it for me.

      https://youtube.com/watch?v=NVsXzKLaQCA

Comparison vs DeWalt, he puts a micrometer to the cuts at the end same the Evo cuts much straighter.

      • One thing to remember is the English version has a different base and mine didn't have the quick release like the American version.

    • once you change the plug .warranty is void ……

That's why you replace the whole cable not just cut off the plug 😉

    Thieves?

These guys set up a local business that you can walk into, paid rent, advertised, imported stock, paid duties, paid staff to answer your questions, will warrant the tool they sell you locally, and then dared to make a margin to pay for all this and hopefully turn a profit.

    Yeah, thieves!!

    • You're right, I may have gotten a little fired up…I worked in a small computer repair shop and can appreciate the costs and overhead involved with brick and mortar businesses.
Just frustrated Australia seems to be the only place in the world they don't give you options for which blade to purchase with the saw.

I think the thing that really rubbed me the wrong way is the fact I can't get to any stores as qld border is closed, and they wanted to charge an extra $60 shipping for this saw where other similar size tools show as free ship in the cart, no one could explain it to me or do anything about it after an hour on the phone with the website support line.

Appreciate the reply. I may have also been a little gnarky, kids keeping me up at 3am…

Sounds like they aren't fighting for your business, which is a shame. I am sure many traditional retailers aren't going to survive all this due to an inability or unwillingness to adapt…

        • Kids keeping you up at 3am - feeling for you dude. That’s not what you need now in these times of lockdowns hey. It’s hard enough having them around all day let alone the night too!

  • Don`t worry about the stainless blade, it has more teeth for better cut and is a stronger blade.
I picked up one from Ebay GB about 4 years ago for $550 delivered.
Wait for Ebay 20% sales to get extra blades.

  • australia is a small market ….if they just have the stainless blade it will cut stainless and mild , one blade to keep that does both, else they would need to keep the mild and stainless blade and one day do clearance on what doesn’t sell, also keeping 2 cartons is messy, they don’t have work experience kids who look at orders for the blade and assemble and box up, comes from factory boxed up.

stainless blades cost more, more teeth so they are bundling the better blade.

    • Funny thing is this is the only place in the world I can find they sell this saw with this blade, even NZ gets the mild steel blade standard, maybe materials issue or patent in aus?.

Evosaw saws website "Designed specifically to cut 302, 303 & 304 grades of Stainless Steel only."
I'm sure it would cut steel no worries, but I'm not planning to do any stainless.

  • Sheesh saving over $300 in shipping. I’ve grump-purchased from Amazon in the past heavy items with prime to cost them an arm and a leg in the shipping just because I forgot to cancel it in time and they charged me $6 for the next month. Heh but this takes the cake.

  • Cool! Less messy than our Ozito $99 cheapie. Anybody compared this to a bandsaw?

    • All the YouTube I watch from America shows them using a hand-held bandsaw tool to do the majority of small cutoff jobs. That must be a fairly common scenario with a readily available tool over there. I tried to find something similar locally, but there was only one or two rare expensive top-end models that were anything close, and some junk low-end battery models. We do have swing arm chop saws with a banded blade or the traditional upright style if you have the space or use it often enough. e.g. https://www.totaltools.com.au/108002-makita-120-x-120mm-port…

  • Looked at these closely a few weeks ago and came to the conclusion that as long as you do not damage the expensive blade and have to replace it they are very good. In the end for my limited needs I bought the $139.00 Ozito chop saw which whilst messier and nowhere near as clean a cut is more than adequate for my occasional use.

    • Yeah I hear you, have been using a reliable old Hitachi chop saw for the last 20 tears!

Just in the middle of my engineering degree and me and dad want to build a small open wheeler, needed something a bit better that won't heat treat materials.

  • Sucks that's their sliding saw from the UK too doesn't have prime shipping
