I spotted this deal this morning. It's on their 24 hour deals and more than half way through on time. Says AU adapter. It seems about half price or better of what I can find locally. I have purchased several times from Focal Price and find them to be ok for that type of store.

The heading says 200M/bps however the text says 85M/bps which is the only confusing bit for me.

Payload Bit Rate: 85m/bps
Connecting Interface: RJ45 Interface
Frequency Covering Range: 300m
Supported Ethernet Standards: IEEE802.3/ IEEE802.3U
Connects to the Ethernet without any dialing process
Builds seamless integration between 200Mbps power cable and 10/100 Ethernet
Optimizes the installation of HD, standard TV, Satellite and IPTV
Optimizes the connection of home multimedia, multi-room DVR network, online control and PC video games
Better performance than Dial-up, ISDN, and ADSL
Output Voltage: 100-240V 50/60HZ
Power Adapter: US, EU, UK, AU

This is my first post, I hope I met all protocols ;-)

  • Hopefully you will receive it! (unlike my last 2x Focal Price orders)

    • Took me nearly a month to receive something from them

    • Hi Mr_P,do you have any problems with FP?
      Can I help you?

Real world speeds are closer to 25Megabits/sec with glitches so not great for HD video, I ripped mine out after a week. Also most modern homes have different circuits this also effects speed, powerbord with surge guards will choke the signal.
Over all your better with wireless, these also are not approved for use in Australia so if they start a fire your insurance won't cover it.

the sad thing is like the archaic copper phone lines, most of the properties out there wouldn't have their electrical done properly (or has deteriorated) to use such technology.

My apartment for example, chucks a dummy when i try to use too many kitchen appliances on the same circuit.

people considering these, should realise that it works as long as you plug them in the same circuit, and, don't use a fancy surge/power line filter of sorts.

for all these effort, just go with a cheap and nasty 802.11g device, it's less headaches.

      • I've tried two sets in my house, and they just don't work very well. In the end I went under the house and put in some cat5.

It works well for some, not for others - I consistently get 80mbps (albeit not with these exact adaptors, but other PowerLine AV200 adaptors), which is much, much better than I was getting with Wireless N at my place (multi-level, double brick).

  • Its really luck of the draw when you stream 1080p with these adapters. I found 720p worked well though.

  • I have ordered a few times from Focalprice with no problems

    • Thanks for support,if you have any problems with FP,feel free to contact me

  • The power plugs do not comply to Australia standard, technically speaking they're not allowed to be imported. Expect to wait 4 weeks for them to ship from China.

  • What luck have people had w/ AV500 products?

  • I've tried netgear 1gb/s network power adaptors and they were rubbish . Worked badly when the were not plugged into power boards but not at all when power boards were used . Our house was built in the 50's which no doubt contributed to the very poor performance .

  • The specs and pic make it clear it's got a US power plug. You'll need adapters on both of them.

    • but in description it said AU plug, I really confused about this

      • No, the description says Power Adapter: US, EU, UK, AU.

AU is last on that list. Unless it comes with a bunch of heads, which I don't think it does as it makes no mention of them and there's nothing on the manufacturers web page about it, it just means it can handle the voltages in those areas.
