After $150 cashback, from JB HiFi; ran out of room in title.
Edit - One of the guys reports that:
- Retravision is selling it
- for $50 less than JB HiFi
- you can ask for a $500 resort cheque too
- see terms & conditions for confirmation on the resort cheque
- I think it's $500 towards the cost of holidays at set locations …
- you cannot say, pay 100% of your stay using a resort cheque, I think it's more like 20 or 40%
This is a cash back deal meaning:
- you pay more up front
- can get more points if you use a credit card
- have to fill out a cashback application
- have to wait for the cashback to get to you
It's a trade off
Top left picture on that page. Compaq Pressario C793VU 15" widescreen notebook, Intel Celeron 2.13 GHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB (possibly SATA) HDD, DVDRW, Vista Basic, 3 USB, 1 memory card slot (accepts SD among others).
It's a relatively inexpensive notebook that looks very nice.
This is a standard notebook, single core, so it's meant for people wanting an optical drive, and/or a large screen. Note it does come with Vista Basic.
If you have XP you can dual boot it, but you might want to do some research first. I'm having problems getting one of the post XP SP3 patches to install, had to turn off SATA support (XP doesn't contain SATA drivers on the installation disc), and I would have hoped for more and much better drivers from Compaq Pressario (monitor driver, when I finally located it only draws 1280 pixels wide, for XP, and this is a widescreen 15.4").
Note: I am not a dual boot expert. I've just been hacking around using info off the web.
This is a good price, but the retail on the unit is only $649 which means it's just a saving of $11. Officeworks will immediately be able to beat it by 5%, and Bing Lee have been known to do it for closer to $600 (less $150). Still a good deal though, but better deals can be had :)
