  • I used this think this was good coffee back in the day when I had a percolator! It would be 6+months old on shelf is my uneducated guess. Can't go wrong for the price.

The problem is not shelf life when sealed, but after you open it. The great thing about this is you pay per-kg price, but get 4x250g sealed packets.
If the last cup from a bag tastes as fresh as the first cup from a freshly opened packet, you are doing OK.

Beans obviously keep longer without losing aroma.

  • Vittoria Mountain Grown Ground Coffee

    Dandenongs ????

    • Maybe..

    • Are your thoughts COVID-19 lockdown compliant now jv?
      Restricted to 10km area?

      • Restricted to 10km area?

        Nope… 5km…

This would be the better taste coffee beans available from the supermarket.

      Lavazza Oro for me.

  • I like the Vittoria oro better.

I used to buy supermarket beans until I discovered the ozbargain and the coffee beans deals. At this price, spend an extra $10 and get better freshly roasted beans instead. There’s heaps of coffee deals around about $23 to $30/kg including postage.

    Last one I bought.

    • Absolutely this.

    • Absolutely this.

    • if options of beans other than supermaket, yes you're right. I buy supermarket beans as only wanted small quantities. Buy in small quantities so the freshness of the beans are there. 1kg will take me a year to consume.

      • We use 1kg per month for 2 people at home.

      • +1

Buy 1kg and then vacuum seal and freeze beans in weekly quantities (or whatever - I do about 4 days worth). Pull them out the night before to defrost before opening (or you can freeze in individual doses and grind frozen, which is supposed to be even better for grind consistency, but that’s too hardcore for me!).

Yes, you can freeze beans (as long as you do it the right way).

Vittoria is the only brand of coffee I will never buy again, whether its beans at woolies, or from a cafe with their signage up.

must have given them at least four chances working through the range as it all goes on special - its all garbage.

    YMMV

      Totally agree

    • Yeah, I contacted them and they asked me to send the coffee in to them. They said it was stale…what a revelation. They sent me 2 kg replacements…which were stale…

      I'm loving the new Aldi Nicaraguan. $9 / 500g.
Previously loved the Aldi Brazilian $14 / kg. These are choc/ toffee tasting notes. If you like floral / citrus, then try the other one. Peru I think it is.

Nah that blend is just not strong enough. Had it several times and used different setting on grinder. Nothing can beat Sicilia coffee from Adelaide or Pablos and Rusty’s from NSW. By the way Sicilia coffees start from 15$ per kg and I have 10% vouchers to use. Order 3kg and get delivery for 5$.

    • Which Sicilia coffee have you tried? Might have to drop past and grab some to try.

    what about Lavazza?

Italians like their Coffee bitter whereas we like our Coffee sweet….

I wouldn't put this in my coffee machine if it was free. Tried it once. Stale beans, couldn't muster enough pressure to get a decent shot.

These beans don't grind correctly in my Breville machine.
They shatter into jagged chips rather than grind properly and I cannot pressure them properly. Possibly due to the dryness and staleness.
Tried two packs and gave up. (drank it anyway and grumbled).

      • I bough 1 a while back when half price. Thought it was just me.
        Never again.

        • Yeah same with me. You get no crema from them. Back to Aldi beans.
