  • Been looking for a portable monitor to go with my laptop to WFH in bed. So it's safe to say that all of the Chinese brands like Blitzwolf are all using the same generic displays and re-skinning?

Also for anyone interested it's not a full HDMI port.

  • Not that I’ve been looking but damn I didn’t realise that there were portable monitors this nice!!
Although 4K on a 14” display seems like overkill haha

    • +5

I thought the same, so went looking…

Half the price ($150) for a larger (15.6"), standard resolution (1080P), brighter IPS panel (400cd/m3), better connectivity (dual Type-C ports)…
However, without touchscreen (a good thing?) and no stand.

      • +1

Problem with these no name screens is getting the right cover/kickstand if not already built in.

As for touchscreen. That depends on your use case.

        • agreed but far more useful for most with touchscreen surely?

          • @petry: Maybe not if it's an extension for a laptop. MacOS doensn't even have proper touch support.

          • +2

@petry: Have one where it's not touchscreen and I would say it's probably better to have it than not.

I used it for work presentations and colleagues would always assume it's touch and my brain would sometimes think it's just easier to touch that screen versus using the mouse to move across.
Coming from Surface products, I'd pay the extra for touch.

            • @Unorthodox: It's nice to have it rather than not certainly.

        • If you have an android phone or similar, you could use an external monitor as basically an extension of your phone if it was a touch screen monitor.

      • Odd question, been looking for portable monitor and came across this https://vissles.com/products/vissles-m-15-6-inch-portable-to… too.
So anyone can give insights if its better to pay premium for Vissles's or buy one from unknown chinese brand like WEICHENSI ?

  • Maybe a noob question but would you able to connect your iPhone to this.

    • +1

You can use a lightning to HDMI dongle but if you do this you won't be able to use touch on the portable monitor.

      • Thanks!

  • Does this have a battery? or does it have to be plugged in to the wall?

    • +1

reads as if: no battery. full function type C meaning charge/display/data transfer (where usb C not available; HDMI and power would be required). Touch screen would require it to be connected via USB C

  • Could be good for an option to make some kind of all in one type machine for Pimiga on a pi400 perhaps.

  • How much power do these use?
I guess you could run it from a PD powerbank?

Would be nice if it had a "keyboard cover".

    • +3

There's a review on YouTube where they used a powerbank to power it up.

  • Can I connect my 720p lenovo b570e laptop with it to get the 4k resolution

    • +1

Does you laptop have HDMI or USB type C?

      • Yes it has HDMI port

        • +1

HDMI will do 4k@30hz … Which is ok, but just note that you wont get the full 60hz this thing can do

  • Thx op , great timing, been looking for one past 2 weeks :) . Extending MSbook via display port .

is AU banggood the same store as their global store? I bought an eReader once. It arrived DOA. Instead of providing me to return the item, they offered me $50 ($560 item) compensation. I went to paypal to dispute, To my suprise, paypal rewarded banggood, I was left with a eReader fails to boot and -$560. Is the store safe to buy or still the same?

    • +1

How the (profanity) did that happen? It’s broken and how did they reward Banggood?

    • Should have gone to your cc provider, they still
Have to compile by Australian rules ie payment for product that matched the description.

  • Thanks OP!
This is exactly what I’ve been chasing for a while now!

  • +1

Thanks OP! Been looking all week for any good prices, seems 4K portable is about $370+

  • Wonder if you can combine this with a steam deck

    • Gonna hazard a guess it should.

  • Thanks, OP. Bought one.
Been looking for a portable monitor with USB-c connectivity of this size to replace my 12.9 iPad.
    Sidecar is just so unreliable.

  • Can I use this with a Raspberry PI to make a kiosk screen?

    • +1

You should be able to. See youtube link below. Note: not the exact same portable monitor but should work the same. Oh and he used a pi 400 but should work the same if you were to use a regular raspberry pi.

  • Has the deal ended? It's only showing 6% off for me ?

    • Looks like it's over.

    • Yeh looks that way. Was tossing whether to get it and this morning it's made my decision

  • so my portable monitor just turned up out of the blue today and the brief few minutes i had free.

i connected a xiaomi zmi power bank to it and it sprung to life.

connected my galaxy tab s7+ 5G to it and it prompted if i wanted dex to start.

tested the touch and it seems to work fine.

    • Wow that was quick! :O Mines still somewhere between shipping and customs

      • +1

Yeah surprised me too. Real happy with the portable monitor. Hope you get yours soon.

        • I've finally received it! It's definitely a nice display to use alongside my laptop., but have you found your display has been draining more power than expected? I didn't expect it to drain my XPS 15 so quickly in the first hour I used it.

          • @simplycurious: Haven't tried connecting a laptop to it. Might try it tomorrow. I guess you may want to power the monitor with a powerbank or plug it in with the included mains charger.

          • @simplycurious:

have you found your display has been draining more power than expected?

Got the portable monitor connected to my x1 yoga and yes it does drain more power. So I can either power the laptop with the charger or plug this charger to the portable monitor which does pass through charging.

            • @xoom: Thanks for confirming, welp I guess the portable life means I'd probably have to bring a battery pack around or plug in more wires.

              • @simplycurious: I always got a pd powerbank whenever I take a laptop with me anyway. So it's no biggie for me.

  • I received the below email saying my order is out of stock and discontinued and offering an alternative.

We are sorry to inform you that the the following item of CN Warehouse in your order is still out of stock and discontinued.

Item GMK KD1 14 Inch 4K Touchable Type C Portable Computer Monitor Gaming Display Screen for Smartphone Tablet Laptop Game Consoles

Deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

In this case, would you mind us helping you change into item 1851047-BlitzWolf® BW-PCM8 14 Inch Touchable UHD 4K Type C Portable Computer Monitor Gaming Display Screen for Smartphone Tablet Laptop Game Consoles?

The configuration of the two products is exactly the same but with the different brand.

    • If it's same price take it.

      • Ditto what xoom said. If its the same price, they are exactly the same - no harm no foul. :P

      • I got the same email. Specs difference between both is the brightness.

GMK specs say 350cd/m² brightness whereas Blitzwolf says 250cd/m²

Blitzwolf is also slightly heavier. Colour gamut also seems different.

      • It is not. They are currently asking for an extra $90 for the BW-PCM8.
I'm pretty annoyed. If it is the same, then do a swap. If it is not the same, then the RRP is lower on the BW (and some specs too)…

If anyone got it, and no longer wants it, please let me know!

        • For extra $90 that's a no. Better off getting this.

UPERFECT 15.6’’ 4k Portable Second Monitor for Laptop with USB C was $319.99 USD now $279.99 USD (A$381.74)

          • @xoom: Thanks. I was looking at that one, but was really hoping for a smaller one with a touch screen (for Samsung DEX).

The 13.3" touchscreen from UPERFECT costs more and appears to have much lower specs.
Any other deals at the moment I should be looking at?

            Cheers

            • @BluBoy: At the moment no. Really regretting only getting one of the GMK KD1 at the price I got it.

  • Only neg about the GMK KD1 is the speakers might as well be nonexistent. It's so soft in volume even at the highest setting. Other than that it's a great monitor for the price I got it for.

  • I spoke to the manufacturer about this. Seems $380 AU is the best offer they can do direct.
