Nice upsized uncapped cashback deal at SB for Myer. Seems like it'd be great for LEGO. Edit: Toys & Games are only 10%.

Have found ShopBack to be quite untrustworthy of late.

They seem to have devised a new strategy, cashback tracks in the account as "pending" so you cannot dispute that its not there (amount is not shown or calculated) and then finally after several weeks, cashback either shows as rejected or ends up at $0.00. I wonder if they still get the money and just keep it for themselves??? With this strategy account holder cannot request an investigation as technically $0.00 is tracked…!!!

A few months back it was the same but a different strategy.
Transaction would show in click history but not tracked. Account holder would then have to spend endless hours requesting an investigation with "good old Debra" (upload of transaction details, screenshots, etc.). Finally as a result of the "investigation", cashback would show up in account. Pretty clear strategy of only passing on cashback to buyers who will take the trouble to launch an investigation.

An investigation on their affairs would be good. Any one with similar experiences?

      • +3

Yup same story. Ended up cancelling my account and use Cashrewards solely.

      • Yep I used this Myer shopback for 2 to 3 times. They all on pending. They sent an email saying it is rejected because typical: honey, adblock, another cash back blah blah. Moving to cashreward. Issues are sorted so much faster there.

      • Just had the exact same experience, seems like it's becoming a trend. Going to delete account and use cashrewards solely.

          Hey all,
If there are any issues with missing cashback I'd be more than happy to take a look at it and assist in any way possible.
Send me a DM with the details and I'll look at it on Monday.

          Cheers!

@gotyourback: Same experience with Debra re a Myer claim where I purchased using the App on my phone where there is no ad blocking software.

Debra just ignored my email back disputing her claim that I must have clicked elsewhere (not using a browser - using App) or had ad block (not installed).

@Maltopia: Hey mate, I'd be happy to look into it if you could send me a DM with your account email & order confirmation?
              Cheers!

          • +1

@gotyourback: But why does it even need to get to the stage of it being raised for investigation?

Sounds from the feedback is happening regularly, so the impression it’s a deliberate act rather than the odd case?

It’s like saying we need to step through every line of our bank statement as we distrust the bank. I’m really hoping that’s not the case

            • -3

              @sydney_kings: Great question!

Unfortunately, there is no way of our system recognizing you placed an order and it didn't track.
This is because our system doesn't do the order tracking. We rely on our partner networks to report your order details back to our system.
All our system does is update the information on your end and credit the cashback when the commission has been paid on that order line.

I understand that it's not ideal to have to chase missing cashback, but it's the best option we have right now.
The same can be said for any other cashback provider.
Our systems don't have that much involvement and therefore can't determine when your order doesn't track by itself.

I hope that clarifies things a little more.

              Cheers!

              • +3

@gotyourback: No one has the time to chase down every friggin transaction, weeks afterwards to only see Shopback have rejected it.

Prefer cashrewards : all tracked, no bull crap reasons for rejection

              • +1

@gotyourback: From my experience and what people are writing here, the order tracks as it shows up as 'pending'.
However, weeks or months later it is declined.

      • +1

Absolutely same experience, I only use shopback now if no other cashback available.

  • +1

Anyone know what does it means by "General Merchandise"?

    • From search results
There are two broad merchandise categories. One is groceries and food products, and the other is general merchandise, which is a broad catchall term for pretty much everything that's not groceries – from hearing aid batteries to major appliances.

    • +2

“The following product fall under the ‘General Merchandise’ Category: Toys & Games, Luggage & Travel Goods, Food, Books & Magazines, Gifting.”

This is from CR. Highly likely Shopback uses the same guideline. Though i could be wrong.

      • Thank you AustinZ. Shopback has specified the category clearer now…

  • +1

To late as cashrewards did it today lol bit late to the party shopback

    • True, although ours is 20% and uncapped.
      Cheers.

  • +4

Is there anything left to buy at Myer?

    • Yes, brand name 😛

  • +12

I boycotted shopback because of untracked cashback, but recently I purchased $600+ from aliexpress and used shopback, and again… didn’t track.
I did everything right. So now i’m done with them.

    • Wow that's alot of crap ! If it was a big order and one was cancelled you lose the lot of it

      • It was for one item. It wasn’t cancelled. I dunno what went wrong. But it’s happened before and on big ticket purchases which annoys me even more.

        • To play devil's advocate did you follow the T&Cs for Aliexpress?

          • Confirm delivery/goods received to get Cashback within 90 days.
          • Empty cart before clicking through ShopBack
          • Use only promo codes from ShopBack
          • Add items to your cart after clicking through ShopBack

Some websites like Aliexpress, Banggood and Amazon are very finnicky about when you add things to cart, etc.. to get it to track correctly. In about 4-5 years of using both Cashrewards and Shopback I've only missed a couple of cashbacks and they were resolved by customer service. I recall some reps mentioning a few times that both sites use the same affiliate networks to track so the T&Cs about getting cashback to track would be the same. Just my two cents :)

    • +3

Did you report it to shopback?

I have found their customer service is generally responsive if the purchase process followed their terms (ie generally no external discounts on top of shopback offer etc).

Not in every case - but they do respond.

On big purchases - be really careful about the terms and screenshot every step.

Same here. I waited for the lego batmobile 1989 to go on sale and purchase it via shopback. They claim I didnt do what was suggested to claimback. They probably have just pocketed the 20% on the $320 I spent. What's interesting is, I also purchased smaller amount items for my wife in a separate transaction just a few minutes after buying the batmobile and yet that went through.

        • Same experience here. I've had so many Shopback claims denied as they claimed I had cookies disabled, had add-ons to my browser etc etc. You know what, I was actually using the Shopback app……

      • I did and they came back with the same generic garbage

    • +2

Seem to have the same issue whenever there’s upsized cash backs they miraculously don’t track despite doing nothing different. So these promos don’t do anything for me as I can’t assume I’ll get the benefit.

    • +3

Just had my first one of these also, 20% on a decent sized purchase.
Denied saying system didn't track and just put all the blame in the user. Cashrewards seems much better and chasing up untracked claims.

Any significant shopback from now on will be click and collect and don't pick up until tracked / cancel if it's not.

    • Hey mate, could you send me a DM with your account email so I can take a look at this for you?
      Cheers!

    • +1

Yep, I'm sick of them too. Just waiting for my pending cashbacks and will continue shopping with CashRewards. I've told all my friends and relos to NOT use SB.

  • +6

Horrible company, never shopping via these guys again. Rejected a couple of cashbacks.

    • Hey mate, could you send me a DM with your account email so I can take a look at this for you?
      Cheers!

      • I've sent you a message just now but I don't have any hope or trust that anything will happen..

      • +1

It’s already “been looked at” i’m not wasting my time sending all the stuff through again to be told the same response everytime.

        • -4

No problem mate. Have a lovely weekend.

  • Sometimes, if you are clearly in the right - a mention of taking the matter to Fair Trading may assist your situation.

Been wanting the Lego Star wars cantina since release and would make it a compelling price….but don't trust shopback. Hrmmm

    • +1

I'm pissed of I didn't fire at the AMZ used ( just means damage box ) for $306 .

    • -1

      Your call here mate.
If you have any issues with tracking, send across a DM and I'd be happy to assist.
      Cheers!

    It's only 4% for toys

    • +3

It's not 11 o'clock yet though, is it?

      • +2

It is somewhere in the world…. Lol

  • +2

I am particularly skeptical with Myer. More than once my cash back claim was declined due to ether they run out of stock in one item amongst the entire order, or they had to replace an item broken on delivery. On both cases, they flatly declined to provide even a partial cash back. May be it’s all covered in their T&Cs but they lose me as a potential customer for the foreseeable future.

  • Well that sucks, Toys & Games are only 10%…

    • +1

I was expecting it to go from 4 to 8% so was pleasantly surprised.

Seriously doubting ShopBack Will do the right thing though based on all I see here.

  • What category would a Kitchenaid Mixer be ?

    • They seem to be in the Home category.

  • Combined with this deal , you may able to get an extra 6% cashback from Zip. (up to $30)

  • Is paying for part of the transaction with a Myer Giftcard okay? Total transaction value still eligible for cashback?

    • +2

I dont believe so according "don't do" section in SB

  • +3

Dont forget, SHOPBACK had a serious breach last year and all your stuff was harvested.

  • My cashback was tracked lower and asked me to investigate.

  • Ah yeah they didn’t track mine either - the bonus ones don’t seem to track. So annoying
