  • Have a few Noirot panel heaters, they work very well but not cheap to run. Keen to know from someone who has used Infrared Heater before about the user experience. Is 600w Infrared Heater effective for a room size of 15 m2? What is the running cost?

    • The cost is 0.6 kWh per hour. If you put it on the floor, it's going to be as effective as a 600W column heater or a fan. The higher you put it, the less effective it's going to be, unless you have ceiling fans to improve bad convection.

      • 0.6 kWh per hour.

hours per hour eh? Useful unit there. Why not 600W years per year?
These things are as "eco" as a $10 toaster to warm the room.

I guess you could put one under the desk, to keep your legs warm :-)

        • Yeah, I don't know how much a person pays for 1 kWh - they should check on their electricity bill, unless they have some solar panels to offset. Hard to say.

Hence the cost is 0.6 kWh x $/kWh…

I guess you could put one under the desk, to keep your legs warm :-)

That's the best use-case for that kind of heater.

    • I replied to the 450w deal with a comment that should answer your questions. Short version, these are good because they can be mounted to wall or ceiling so are out of the way but that's it. Otherwise same as any other heater. We had a 500w herschel far infrared and it was ok in 3 X 3 room.

  • This type of heating has very little to do with being eco, "ecoartheating official shop".

    • Would you prefer William Woe or Robert Roe? We've got them too!

  • A 7.5sqm room? who needs to heat their broom closet? Nice in theory but given its size it poor bang for buck.

    • We recommend 80W-100W per square meters for generally use.
For larger space, need to install more heaters.
Our picture heater is available next week in Sydney warehouse.
      Special offer for early bird.

  • This is very expensive and 600W is very low.

Bunnings have similar ones for ~$80 which go up to 1500/2000W.

You can also get fan heaters from the supermarket which are 1500/2000W for ~$20.

The overall heat output is directly related to the wattage, however the fan heaters work a bit better by pushing the hot air towards where you point it.

The panel heaters without a fan will just radiate from the device so might be a bit slower to heat you enough.

    • Infrared heaters work by converting electricity into radiant heat. Infrared is part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The heat is the same feeling of warmth as the winter sun on your face and the heat from a coal fire.

  • This one cheaper https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/637036#comment-10776561?

But don't think both are bargain

    • This include 1pc 600W and 1pc wireless thermostat, which support wall, ceiling mounting.
800W type do not support ceiling mounting.
Our heaters are the same as Herschel Infrared Heater.
Convection heater is much cheaper. Different heating method.

  • You can get a real aircon for not much more.
Three or four times the efficiency, same power used but heats or cools a room properly.
