Yeah , Australia as slave of America , server its master quite well

        • +2

Possibly, but their large military keeps Chinese and other nations in check, so I am happy with them.

    • Wow look at you, guys

      That is politically incorrect.

    • +7

Australia is a democratic country with freedom of speech and media. You wouldn't be so loyal if your family were kidnapped, murdered or tortured for something as insignificant as a post on social media. You shouldn't be enjoying the freedoms of this nation if you feel that your beliefs or loyalties contradict the ethos of Australia.

      • +1

You should read up on the friendly fordies debacle. We're starting to stray from a democracy with scomo in charge.

      • freedom of speech

not technically. It's not in our constitution.

  • +5

Only came in for comments. I must say it exceeds my original expectation.

    • One of the saner comments in this thread LOL

      • I can see how lockdown in NSW and VIC drove people nuts!

    • +1

Have to +1, what I see is way beyond imagination.

  • +3

How do I say "All your base are belong to us?"

    • +2

      Perhaps 你所有的基地都属于我们

    • +1

Not necessary to translate, that is Chinglish already.

      • +2

actually from your point of view, that should be Japenglish

  • +6

Soon Dan Andrews will make it mandatory for Victorians to learn Chinese 🇨🇳🇨🇳

    • +1

Chairman Dan is already halfway there.

  • This is important, mandarin will eventually become the one of the official languages of Australia.

We must embrace this, not only has China become the leading world power, they have also got a vast economy that has endless money, not to mention many Australians have married Chinese nationals here and abroad.

Mandarin is the future, so this freebie really helps everyone.

    • +2

"not only has China become the leading world power"…….not quite yet I think.

    • Why? CCP will eventually control Australia? Even me, a Chinese migrant, don't want my son to learn Chinese.

      • +9

Your son has the right to learn anything he wanted to. Learn the spirit of freedom and democracy lol.

        • He can have wants and desires, this does not mean he needs to learn the spirit of freedom and democracy.

Freedom and democracy allows everyone to have wants and desires, only in a place like HK or China right now where certain wants or desires can land you in jail for simply verbalising it, I’m looking at those national security laws.

          • +1

@cloudy: it's ok, rimo probably don't have kids who can be brainwashed by CCP yet

            • @HK Refugee: Thats my privacy and of course none of your business. Take care of your own kids:-)

          • +3

@cloudy: Certain wants or desires including robbing small business shops and killing cops on street? Jail is the place these criminals should be staying in.

            • +3

@RimofLeo: Hello CCP member, drawing parallels with desires of (Not) learning languages to criminal behaviour.

It’s such a stretch that it’s not even sensible

              • +2

@cloudy: Hello 50 cent warrior your shit understanding is impressive.
No wonder why you get only 50 cents.

                • +2

@RimofLeo: hello I have no other come back other than to try my best insult in hope it distracts reads at my lack of argument.

                  • -2

@cloudy: Anyone reads the above comments would agree "shit understanding" precisely describes your thinking and reasoning. Nothing to do with insult.

                    • +2

@RimofLeo: That's like me saying anyone who reads your comments would think you are 16 years old so far behind in schooling you're in 7th grade. Nothing to do with insults.

There's not even an attempt to make reasoning (nor does the CCP mouthpiece for that matter, in which your musing is consistent with)

Lets put it out there, hello has kids, he is the guardian he can wish for his kids whatever he wants. If he wants them to learn tennis instead of football that's his choice, if he wants them to learn italian he can send them to Italian school, and if he doesn't want his kids to learn chinese that's his business.

All this has lead you to one conclusion, that he is a criminal that stabs cops and robs shops and should be jailed.

Well, that's a long bow to draw even if you write for the GlobalTimes

                      • @cloudy: Regarding my previous comment to @hello2090, I have zero interest in other's parenting nor schooling. I was kindly pointing out that he should not force his kid not learning a language simply to satisfy his own political view.

Your new comment above further reinforced the fact that your understanding is at an excellent level:-) I was astonished how could you even draw the conclusion that I assumed he is a criminal whatsoever?

I should not have wasted so much time in replying you. Any following replies from you will be ignored.

                        • @RimofLeo: Haha, force yourself not to reply in order to conserve time if that’s the case

                        • @RimofLeo: No, I didn't force anything. Naturally, a person growing up in Australia likes to speak English. So is my son.

I just didn't enroll him in a Chinese language class. So far all the Chinese language camps I've seen all hang up photos of them being visited by Chinese ambassadors or officials which is really funny.

If you don’t appreciate your own heritage, do you expect anyone will respect your culture identity? You’d be in limbo that no one knows who you are. Remember you are in a fraction of the cultural timeline. Feel ashamed of being someone in nature actually ashamed yourself in someone else’s eyes.

        • -1

Why I must appreciate my own heritage?

    • "Endless money" Wumao 😅😅😅

    • For people who don't realise, he's obviously taking the piss out of this. RELAX PEOPLE.

  • -5

Chinese people, the Chinese government are doing a great favor by allowing you to learn the greatest, most advanced language in the world. Like anyone doing business with China, you need to show your respect to China.

Respect to China == whatever Chinese government do is always correct, great, glorious. You can't complain, you can't say you dislike. you can't say it's wrong. Otherwise, Chinese people will be angry, you'll be the enemy, you won't be qualified to use anything related to China, including the Chinese language.

    • +5

much social status points earned today comrade, your leader will be joyful.

    • +2

Lets stand together against the evils of Freedom and democracy! Human rights won't get in our way!

      • +1

what's human rights? Couldn't find it in the mandarin dictionary :)

  • +5

How do you say " Uighur genocide " in Mandarin?

How do I say " I commented on the government and my social credit score went down, now I can't use public transport "

Imagine actually having to live there.

    • +7

      The Stolen Generations by Australian?

      • +1

Didn't the Australian government admit it?

        • +4

"So what? We have admitted it!"
Shall we have an annual celebration like Thanksgiving in the US?

          • @RimofLeo: Negged to eliminate the + - the sentient is apt but in relation to the behavior of the Chinese gov't the original comment by hello2090 is fitting.

        • +2

btw Japanese government never admitted the Nanjing Massacre, yet where's all the criticisms from you righties

      • +4

Imagine using whataboutism as an excuse for genocide. Because Australia did bad in the past = China has a free pass to murder thousands and organ harvest?

Did it occur to you that it's actually possible to campaign against BOTH things?

        • 1) Tasmanian genocide is MUCH worse than "did bad".
          2) Only the country never commited such crime (or did so but made enough introspection and war reparations, like Germany) may have the right to criticize others on such issue.
          3) Organ harvest in which country? Any evidence at all?

          • +3

@RimofLeo: 1) Very true, it should not be waived off as "did bad" However, they are right that the Whataboutism is way too strong. Genocide should not be dismissed because another country committed an atrocity.

            2) Wrong. Governments can be criticized for genocide and other horrific acts, by anyone, at anytime, you don't need to be saints to do so. Australia's and other nations poor history, does not excuse modern horrific acts.

            3) An independent tribunal was setup and discovered China does forced organ harvesting from, amongst others, prisoners of conscience.

If you are a stolen generation in aus right now you living great.

Alot of benefits, alot of welfare, have many events dedicated to you, government sorrying, and can get an advantage over non-stolens on getting jobs.

        • +2

But imagine if stolen generation never happened…..how much land would you own or how much would those mining companies have to pay you to buy or get rights to mine.

I think free welfare is pretty cheap.

        • +2

I would mind if my kids were taken away from me, to have no knowledge of who I am or our family, and be told it is okay because they'll have some benefits thrown at them in later life. Oh by the way, the people that stole my kids from me will despise my kids for getting those hand outs and be told they have it easy. Plus a sorry makes it all better.

    • If you learn Chinese to say those things, sorry Chinese people do not welcome you. You are not qualified to learn Chinese.

Just like everyone can run for chief executive in HongKong, but every candidate must be approved by Chinese government. Only those really love HongKong can go to the final election. Thanks.

      • +3

Sorry no one tells me what Ianguage I am "qualified" to learn. I say and do as my right (respectfully) to everyone equally including Chinese people. I happen to find them open minded and welcoming even with me shtty language skills but then again I don't try and shave my point of view down people's throats and I don't not know 1.5 billion people as you seem to do, along with every candidate in the HK government. Thanks.

    • +1

I only heard about Tasmanian genocide :-)

    • +1

@ Whomastadon My CCP sponsored freebie translation app said I'm under arrest when I tried these phrases….woe, woe, woe.

    • There are no words for that because apparently it doesn't exist.

    • +4

The Uighur population in Xinjiang has increased more than 3 times in the past 50 years after CCP's evil "genocide".

Best idea is visiting the actual place by yourself after lockdown, don't trust what your TV tells you, no media can be trusted nowadays.

      • -2

how much population increase Nanjing recorded in 50 years after Japanese so called killed 300k there?

      • If CCP did any bad job, this would’ve been one of them

        • Letting them repopulate again?

    • This exactly shows how people get brainwashed.
" I commented on the government and my social credit score went down, now I can't use public transport "

firstly it's not about a person whose social credit score went down,
it's about a judgment debtor who does not fulfill the payment obligation,

      secondly, it's not public transport
      actually, they are restricted:
to take an airplane, take the soft berth (first class) of a train, take the first class and business class of a high-speed train.

and all these above are considered high levels of consumption in China.
you may be wandering why airplane is included, that's because China has a massive and effective train network, the network covered more cities than by airplanes, and most people will travel by train due to the much lower price.

thirdly you may be confused by the word "train"
The "train" in China means long travel distance between cities, usually stops once per 60-100 km (at 90-110 km/h, slow trains )
(take the first class and business class is restricted)

the public transport travels in city and satellite cities called "metro" or "subway", and these are not restricted at all.

    • Evidence? Is there a 2 for 1 deal on anti-China warmongering at ASPI or something?

  • Wo ai ni

  • Does anyone have an opinion/ review on the courses???

    • Doesn’t look like it. Hundreds of comments on this post and not a single one about the actual deal.

      • Obvious you haven't read the thread properly as my advice is don't waste your time as tech does it .

    • +1

I can't really speak for this course however I've done the Pimsleur system which is an audio only learning system. I just downloaded a bunch of their audiobooks on Audible through free trials. Have done one for Czech and started the Chinese one. Very useful for Mandarin as the pronunciations and tonals sounds are something you need to hear repeatedly and practice out loud. Pimsleur has been around a long time and languge genius/Youtuber Xiaoma rated it well.

  • Does this teach traditional characters or just the simplified CCP ones?
    謝謝

    • +5

      仆街 simplified ones. Thanks

      • +2

        簡寫的愛沒有心

      • Is 仆街 Mando or Canto. Don't want to use it out of context.

  • +1

Holly Molly, you guys are all CCP experts and know so much that most 'brainwashed' Chinese don't know, including more than 50 million 'brainwashed' oversea Chinese. Bravo!
Since most household items here were made in China by Chinese who are governed by CCP and forced labour involved, start making them disappear/discontinue in your home and choose the alternatives made from other counties.

Always great fun watching these comments.

    • +1

I suspect you would struggle to find goods commonly made in China from another country instead.

      • Who's fault is that, the people who work or the companies / governments sending our manufacturing base away to make a profit. Let's do something about it in our own backyard before blaming someone else or complaining its too hard.

  • +1

Regardless of comments, thanks for the post OP +1 for ya!

  • Баярлалаа :)

  • +2

People say all they want about China, genocide, bullying, COVID etc. but still lap up Chinese products like Lenovo, Oppo, Xiaomi etc like animals in heat…..

    Double standard much?

Just learn the language and accept defeat, don’t be a sore loser lol

    • -2

      This echos what I said

Chinese people, the Chinese government are doing a great favor by allowing you to learn the greatest, most advanced language in the world. Like anyone doing business with China, you need to show your respect to China.

Respect to China == whatever Chinese government do is always correct, great, glorious. You can't complain, you can't say you dislike. you can't say it's wrong. Otherwise, Chinese people will be angry, you'll be the enemy, you won't be qualified to use anything related to China, including the Chinese language.

PLEASE RESPECT CHINA. Otherwise don’t wear underpants we make!

      • -1

Because when you don't show respect, they ban winnie the pooh.

As a person of Chinese ancestry, I have no beef with the Chinese people. The Chinese Government is a completely different story.

All governments should be open to criticism. Try doing that in China and you'll go to jail.

But yes, I am forever in debt to the Chinese Goverment by giving me access to a free online Chinese course. What great generosity! CCP forever!

        Now where's my 50 cents?

        • +9

Why are you downvoting the deal rather than the comment? Is a free course to learn Chinese not a good deal?

      • Dam LOL

  • +2

Awesome will help me big time in da POW camp

  • -1

    芜湖

  • After Spanish, Korean, and Japanese ones, finally the Chinese course :)

  • +2

    Prefer the Taiwanese version

  • +2

Vibe here is completely different from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/638542 though they are all about learning a foreign language.

  • +6

It concerns me how many CCP Sympathizers there are here!

    • +4

That’s how propaganda and brainwashing works, and the people who fight against it get called a racist to shut down their arguments . So that way they get discredited and you don’t have to have look at their arguments .

People who compare the US to CCP don’t have a clue. Sure western politics has done bad things and can be corrupt but the fact is at the end of the day they are more responsible back to their public and when they overstep they get voted out or at times even worse occurs. Look at how Hollywood has so many film makers or even tv talk shows etc where they talk against US politics and make movies about how US governments have made mistakes or lied to the public etc. this kind of ability to talk negatively about your own government gives the public more control and the governments more fear and rethinking their policies.

This doesn’t happen in the countries where governments have absolute power. And anyone who speaks against the government gets shut down or disappeared. Even look at the beginning of COVID and how the CCP shut down their own public and medical organisations that started to report it. If they hadn’t done that and admitted the truth to the world. We wouldn’t be in the scenario we are in now.

Definitely all governments have done the wrong thing at times but some far more than others. The ones that can’t be held liable or spoken negatively about can do whatever they want. And treat people however they want.

    • What's wrong with that? Isn't democracy and freedom of speech all about being able to express one's opinion regardless of whether you agree or disagree with them? Wouldn't be much of freedom of speech if ppl aren't allowed to support CCP

      • +1

Does XIDADA in China support freedom of speech? Does freedom of speech is a Chinese heritage? I'm afraid not comrade

      • -1

Dear comrade, can you explain why me not want my son to learn Chinese in your eyes makes me a BANANA? Is it my own choice? Why you do not respect my choice? Why you double standard here again?

      • -1

Dear comrade, historically China has never been a country of freedom of speech.

In your country, media is state-owned, newspaper is state-owned. create an account on any website needs your real name and id verification. Freedom of speech is never the heritage of China.

But you are here requesting the right of freedom of speech. Are you betraying Chinese heritage and then should be labeled as BANANA like me?
