  • Refuse to pay subscription for software. No thanks.

  • Just an FYI for people who do know what this software is.

It's a cloud based computer aided design (CAD) software, which used to be free up until recently.

The software is still free, but certain functions are now limited behind a subscription model.

This program is used in manufacturing, such as 3d printing, cnc machining.

There are other similar software that isn't cloud based.

  • +1

Fusion360 is free for personal/non-commercial use. Although it says basic features it is still a very capable piece of software. Likely more capable than what most hobbyists would actually need.

Check what features commercial has that you require as the free version is really good.

  • Also worth looking into Autodesk Inventor (from the same company, but not cloud based, and sometimes available at a reduced price for non commercial use), and Solidworks (competitor, many say this is a better program than the Autodesk offerings, and has been mentioned here on special for non commercial use - I think under $100). These 2 + F360 support parametric design.

Others welcome to chime in, though for home use the F360 offering is a bit pricey unless you have just cashed in your bitcoins :)
